Okay, so my PS3 has been acting up as of late. For some reason every time I've been trying to connect to the internet, I get the following error code: 80710102.

I've tried having a guy come over to fix it, but he wasn't specialized in video game consoles so he couldn't figure it out, and I've tried looking for solutions on the internet, but I couldn't find anything that worked. I've tried using the various DNS codes people have provided, but so far none of them worked.

So now I'm going to ask you guys, have any of you experienced this error code before? Is there a solution to this problem? I'd greatly appreciate it if you helped out.

Don't quote me or anything, but there was a new attempt on PS3 accounts. You could have been one of the person effected. Was just this past week iirc.

Only assistance I could offer that might help is try deleting your internet settings, and reentering them. Or try turning off your modem and/or router for like 15 seconds and turning them back on.

Regardless, I hope you get this sorted out >.< I know how frustrating technology can be in times like this.

This has been happening to me for the past 3 weeks, so I don't think it's that.

I'll try that, and thanks.

Any time I've gotten a connection error (other than the PS network being down entirely post-being-hacked), this has worked for me:
1. Unplug router's power cable
2. Wait 10 seconds
3. Plug it back in
4. Wait a minute or two
5. Try again

My router seems to need this reset from time to time anyway though or it stops working entirely. But hey, it's worth a try if you have a router setup.

Normally that would be the case if I was simply cut from the internet, but that doesn't work this time for some reason. I've tried re-connecting the internet, but nothing has changed on my PS3.

Thanks for your help anyway.

Is the PS3 still getting a connection to the Internet? Even if say PSN was down, you can still use the Internet browser, Netflix, and whatnot. Have you tried both wired and wireless? If you're on wireless, maybe the router's or PS3's wireless adapter is having issues. Try going into the network settings and using custom settings, and give the PS3 a static IP. You should be getting NAT2 in the connection test if you have a normal router to modem setup. Lastly, if you are getting an IP address from the router in the connection test, it could be a setting on the router.

I think I remember that! You have to look in your network settings and fiddle around. I'm very sorry but I can't remember the details of how I fixed it (sold my ps3 a while after)

I would say though that you would be best served typing "DNS Error 80710102" in google - you're sure to find a forum post at the top of the search results page answering your question.
I've mentioned already that I've tried using the internet to finding a solution. So far, nothing has worked. Although I haven't exhausted all my options yet.

Going to guess you have a DNS error.

Change your DNS server in your router to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 (Google's open free one) and see if that fixes it.

If it does sort it out with your ISP.

Blah...

I've tried some of the DNS codes you guys have provided, whether directly or through a link, and none of them have worked.

I'm really stumped right now. :/

I think I'm having a similar problem, all of a sudden my playstation stopped connecting to the internt and now won't even obtain an IP address although nothing has changed.

The frustrating thing is that it will randomly be fine for a few hours every couple of days and then will go back to not working.

Solution:
For old PS3: With the power off hold down the power button until it beeps twice unplug it then go to your router and unplug it. After 10 secs the router back in. Then plug the PS3 in and turn it on. Should help.

For new PS3 Slim: With the power off hold down the power button, you will hear the normal start up beep then keep holding it until it beeps once more. Go through the settings and then the system will kind of reset its self.

This worked for me on both my old and new system. Hope it helps you guys out
