OP, there's no polite way to say it, but you're kind of an idiot. Let me tell you about something called "trolling." Trolling is a social experiment to see how many people you can piss off by doing something that you think is funny/dont care about. The fact that you got pissed means that he just beat you and you are now in the "butthurt idiot" category. As you said he may or may not actually hate final fantasy, but regardless of his opinion it's either
a) a satire, in which case anyone who gets offended is an idiot so a hate email=successful troll
or
b) he intentionally acted like a douche to piss more people off so a hate email = successful troll.
Though as far as "ripping off yahtzee" goes, really the only point that he made that yahtzee makes as well is that the boys look feminine, and possibly that turn based combat sucks (even though he went a different direction with it), niether of which where a viewpoint that yahtzee started OR created and can both be observed easily by anyone with eyes and a brain. He doesn't talk fast, use a cartoon, use similar wording/style/accent, or even argue his (slightly similar) point in a way that's even remotely close to yahtzee. I went out of my way to try to look at it from the mindset of "this guy is ripping off yahtzee" and I couldn't see the connection.

They did it with CoD 4 and MW2, and they'll do it again. Don't take it so seriously and forget about it, it's not meant to be taken seriously. So all in all:
1) Most of the things we enjoy today are highly unoriginal. If you want to be pedantic then Yahtzee ripped off Charlie Brooker, AVGN ripped off i-rate gamer and the nostalgia critic, and Unskippable ripped of MST3K.
2) Yes, because it's not meant to be taken seriously. I highly doubt this is a man with a beef with the FF series.
3) I still watch AVGN, and I don't watch Yahtzee any more because he's pretty much audience pandering with what he still calls reviews and his humour has become grating. Take that as you wish.
4) Just like the CoD 4 sucks videos and the editorials they do every now and then (Nintendo is lazy and you don't care, oh no! Xbox Mii-60s arrive!, and so on) it's something they'll always do. They have the money and influence for that kind of thing.
5) In my opinion, no, Yahtzee isn't likeable, and he's not meant to be.
I just think you're making a mountain out of a molehill claiming this guy is ripping off two people when he's ripping off no one. Satirical rants have existed years before those two, and will exist years after.

I agree that the guy in the video is a d-bag but it's really not that big of a deal. I don't really like IGN in the first place so to see them do this really doesn't bother me.
He is obviously just trolling so making a big deal about it on a forum or emailing him is exactly what he wants! I say you should just drop the subject and leave it be.

Are we seriously bitching at IGN for trying something new? I mean, it's not original content or anything. but at least it's doing something that few game reviewers are willing to try. They really are trying to be more like escapist in that way and I personally don't think that's a bad thing, all the did was try something new.

LOL it was semi funny, and its so easy to tell the dude is trolling on purpose, and he even gives them props on the cut scenes and character design if you listen, and he points out a few other good things that he makes fun of which in my book are good things about a game, so really if your upset over the video then get a sense of humor, its not a big deal, and hte games will go on just as they always have without yours or his 2 cents

I agree with everything he said. And I'm stifling laughter at all the people in this thread getting upset because someone made fun of games they like.
