Hang on. Slight confusion on the me part. I have heard of pet mice, gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, moles, voles, and other little animals that you keep in a cage, but I was aware that anybody had actual pet rats. Is that common?
I've had two. My brother one. A girl in my class about 10 years ago was a, well her mother was a, "breeder" who actually put together rats from different families that would make good pet rats. They checked which rats were the most calm and social ones and then put them in the same cage = rat children made to be pets.
Rats are great pets, they only live about 2 years, so it's not that long time, and pretty easy to take care of. BUT they are very social animals and need time to be in ones lap and get groomed or patted or whatever it likes, and I also allowed my rats to venture into the whole house, of course after blocking small holes were it could run into, like behind the fridge or such. But he seemed to enjoy climbing up clothing and furniture tying to get as close to the roof as possible
I'd say rats are pretty common pets, yes.
EDIT: And now you got another reply... You shouldn't ask a question as the 4th repliant in a thread Fallout -.-
You'll just be spammed
