I'm just posting this to see if anyone, like myself, saw several episodes of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic... and didn't want to watch any more.

I'm not trying to say the show is bad; I can see how it has value to some. My roommate and several other people on my dorm floor are huge fans of the show (my roommate won't call himself a Brony, but that's another conversation...). I see how it can appeal to an audience. I just didn't personally want to invest time into watching the show.

That being said, I'm not against kid shows. Avatar: The Last Airbender is a wonder to behold and I'm willing to try anything once. My Little Pony just didn't grab me as it seems to have done to so many other people.

So, fellow Escapees, I ask you: did you watch any amount of My Little Pony and not care for it as I did?
Avatar The Last Airbender was masterfully crafted, really made a wonderful job.
About the ponies... I watched it and I liked the voice acting. Which is basically it.

As with many other bronies, I'm surprised that this hasn't turned into an all out flame war. And I appreciate the fact that you didn't bash the show. At least you tried it. Now, if you had watched it and then decided to bash it, I'd still disagree with you, but at least you watched it. Most people that bash it haven't even looked into it from what I understand.

That being said, I never really was a fan of the show until I had watched about 3/4 of the episodes. I saw that it didn't have many, and figured that I'd watch the whole thing since my mom passed away not long before, and I needed something a little on the lighter side. Once I saw the whole series though, I have to say that I'm impressed with the writing, the adult humor that's there if you know where to look, and the fact that the show isn't written in a way that speaks down to the intended audience.

Now, I sing along with the songs, with the exception of "Art of the Dress" because my voice simply can't do it, and I'm not stellar at singing anyway. I often get the songs stuck in my head as well, and find myself humming them from time to time.

Overall, it's a good show if you're looking for something light and entertaining and are willing to suspend your "I'm an adult and therefor can't do anything childish" belief. If it's not your thing though, it's not your thing.

i completely respect anyone who watches a few eps before deciding they don't like it. so kudo's to you. it's only the ones who preemptively condemn it that get -.-'s.

OT: no, i can't say i did. i watched a few eps to see what it was about, then a few more, then the rest of them. somewhere in there i decided i liked it.

I am not a huge fan of the show, but if I come home and my girlfriend is watching it I have no qualms just sitting there and watching it with her. I find it mildly entertaining, but not worth seeking out. Ren and Stimpy on the other hand.... God I love the randomness

Watched it, realised the fans who are gushing about how awesome it was were wrong, left it at that.

Is there any other response other than "i liked it" that you're gonna get? There's only two responses possible, shoulda polled it man :)

Edit: Other response other than the one I gave, i'm not sure I made that clear.

And what is up with everyone making a big deal over how much they love or hate this show? Its just a show.

Well, I'm a brony, so I didn't react like you did, but a lot of my friends have done what you have (even my Mum). So yeah, it's pretty common. :p

I agree. I've watched several episodes from all various points in the show. At least one from the beginning, middle and end. I might've seen...five in total? I really wanted to give it a shot and I read a lot of people saying "Ooooh, well, the first two episodes are bad and don't represent the show at all."

I really didn't like it. Okay, so it has pretty colors, but I hated the characters because, to me, they are typical kids show stereotypes. The plots were predictable, again, typical kids stuff, and the humour was just lackluster. Everything I was told was good just made me go "Meh." I will say the animation is better than half the stuff out there these days, but not good enough to make it worth my while.

However, you can watch what you like. I just won't join in. Ever.

I began watching it one night on a whim, and i liked a few episodes, im not as huge a fan as other people on this site but its well written, has alright characters and decent animation if not the bestthing out there.

But yeah ive got respect for you, you spent a descent amount of time watching the show and decided you didnt like it and all is fair, some people can't accept that.

Ooh, how long can this thread last before destruction?

We all know it will happen, probably soon. Someone will start the flamewar.

OT: That's fine, I guess. Well done for actually having the guts to try the show before deciding you dislike it. Personally, I was hooked from the first episode I saw, but it's all a matter of taste, and nothing can be universally good.

Meh I say, meh.
I can see what some people might find in it, it does have something to it that many other shows these days lack, but other than that, not worth my time.

OT: i say im not hooked but i watched the whole season ill admit it on the internet but not to my friends

Why the hell does everybody make a big deal out of loving/hating this show? What is the difference between this and, let's say, Doctor Who? Yes, I love this show and I love Doctor Who, but what the fricken Hitler is wrong with the internet as soon as you bring this up? Yes, I mean haters and fans.

I thought the season 2 Premier was so superior to the season 1 one. Yeah, I'm not a raging fan of it and it will never be my favourite TV show but I like it. Its a good show.

I think I was a bit of an odd case. I woke up early one day during the summer and it happened to be on, so since I had heard of it on Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, I watched it. (It was coincidentally the first 2 episodes back to back) My response was mostly a "Well that's certainly better than expected." followed by a few mehs, then I dropped it figuring I'd never watch it again unless it happened to be on.

Being the summer at the time with no new games or shows coming out that I liked, a few weeks later I got really bored to the extent that I decided to watch it again and found the show on youtube, and then I got hooked without even realizing it. So I guess "resisted" for a few weeks, but eventually succumbed due to boredom and free time. Now I'm a pretty big fan and even got a T-shirt. (Although I do that for everything, so I guess that's not really saying a lot.)

If you watched one or two and didn't like it, then you didn't like it. It doesn't really matter. It doesn't make you a better or worse person if you liked the show and vice versa. Fingers crossed we can keep this thread flame free!

EDIT: I am glad that you at least gave the show a try where as most people dismiss it and bash it anyways.

I will admit, I haven't actually watched it.
Everyone says "If you liked anything else Lauren Faust's done, you'll like this", but that's the thing. I did like her other stuff, but I can't be bothered to go and watch them again, I really can't be bothered to go watch some new thing.

No disrespect to those who enjoy it. I'm just too lazy to join you.

Oh no, INBE4TEHFLAMES! I'm just happy you didn't do the whole routine of ITS A SICK OBSESSION AND TURNS PEOPLE INTO SERIAL RAPISTS WHO FUCK HORSES!
I was waiting to get my Serial Rapist card when I bought Bulletstorm. It has been atleast a couple months, now... /Sarcasm

OT: You didn't blow your opinion out of proportion. That is good. Most people I know explode when they see the first episode and go on rants about it all day. You just simply laid your thoughts out in a simple and calm way. No whining, no rant, no nothing.

You are a good man. I salute you.

The first few episodes were nice enough, but I didn't really have an interest in it until episode four or five.

I mean, its a fun show and its nice to have something decent to turn to for innocent childish glee, but I don't get when people try to turn it into something its not. (Grimdark, serious drama, porn, etc.)
Still, bronies are one of the nicest, happiest groups on the internet that I've ever come across, and will hang out with bronies from time to time.

Myself, though? I wouldn't call myself a brony. I just like happy, silly things and I've always been really annoyed off when people give positive things flack.
My mother mentioned to me about when I was five, someone got suspended from some child care program over an argument where I was defending Barney from some kids who were making jokes about dismembering him...
I haven't changed. XD
