Having finished Ultimate Ghosts N Goblins a game that kept kicking my ass but I loved every second of it like a whore begging for a harder ass pounding I waited for such a game to arrive it did in the form of Castlevania the Dracula X Chronicals not only is it the unholy owner of my ass now but with Symphony of the Night and the 2D version of Rondo of Blood 30 bucks is a steal for three awesome games. Okay, your Richter Belmont whip wielding Hunter around my age (19) he is having a nice day till he comes home to find his town is on fire and some weird guy named Shaft and our favorite blood sucker Count Vlad Tepes Dracula kidnapps your hot girlfriend Annette Renard. Pissed off you set out through the "Dinner of Flames" as the first level is actually called in some levels you actually have two paths if you say fall down the pit behind the secret wall (yeah I know sounds crazy) you get to fight some nasty Lake Monster and go to the Alternate Level 2 if you remain on the beaten path you face the Wyvern which you wont beat if you dont have an axe....im not joking. Anyway along the way you free other maidens who have been kidnapped by the evil baddies for whatever reason in one very questionable scene Shaft is seen alone with 12 year old Maria Renard Annettes little sister. Shaft runs away after you interrupt his lolifest (he doesn't do anything to her but he could if you didnt interfere! of course it doesn't show that I mean goodness...you sick fucks)you must free all the maidens to not only be able to get cool powers like killing those damn Bloody Skeletons but to save Annette as well if you fail she turns into a Succubus and its up to you to kill your hottie...sucks to be Richter no?

There is 8 levels and 4 Alternate levels for a grand total of 12 levels! Not bad for an old school Castlevania! Some parts will piss if you if your an impatient type youll hate Richter's "I got a corncob up my ass" pimp walk and lack of a double jump (Maria has a double jump and slide...also some wicked ass power I think the combo for it is roll your thumb over the D-pad and hit attack kinda like Ryu's Hadoken I havn't mastered it yet but it can kill most bosses in about 3 hits) I highly suggest this to any Castlevania fan with a PSP...if you dont have a PSP...well shame on you. My score is 9/10

some notes on Symphony of the Night

Voice acting and script are redone its much better.

some sound effects like "level up!" are changed I dunno why but its not for the worst.

the names of some songs have changed the theme of the Clock Tower area I think it was called Tragic Prince but now it is called Pitiful Scion. Frankly, I like the new name better but thats just me.

The theme of level 7 on the remade Rondo of Blood is replaced. Formally it was The Nest now it is imo a superior track called Moonfight.

the theme of Level 5' Wandering is Red Dawn...AWESOME TRACK!

okay im done

Well, the review did leave something unexplained, maybe two things but i'll look in this thing.

what is the old school gameplay of castlevania? Including this in your review would help people to know what genre we are talking about. The old school vania's are 2D platformers and not exploration games, the ones for the GBA or that one for the DS. And is it really time-based that the protaginsts' girl turns into a succubus? Or is it how many times you have failed and died?

And you do recommend it to oldies of the series, but why don't you say to people that like challenge, to give this a try?

The Zero Punctuation format works a lot better in an audio format than it does in the written word. Your content was brief but sound, except that I had to spend some time deciphering which thoughts should have belonged to separate sentences. Unfortunately, punctuation is key to the written form, so just make sure you add the commas and periods where they need to be, and you're well on your way.

Hm, your right I should have picked a time when I had more time on my hands. I talk to people who play Castlevania and most cannot stand the old-school gameplay of Dracula X. I really didn't mean to ramble like that either shoulda been a little more structured. As far as Annette is concerned you could have 24 hours playtime and it does not affect her fate what does is not saving her in level 7. If and when I write another review I will take all your constuctive criticism to heart and do better. Thanks guys for the advice and slight flaming
