I know this is the worsst possible place to say this, but gaming, is actually getting a bit irritating. THE GAMES ARE ALL THE SAME!!! Think of something origonal before I quit my life long hobby.

Art sucked me out of gaming, and I'm glad it did.
Gaming is still close to me --most of the commissions I take are comic book and video game characters. I recently did a large rendering of the first colossus from SotC, as one example. I keep up to date with games as best I can but my actual gaming is down. I don't think I've fondled my Playstation in two weeks now.
It's still a hobby sometimes, just no longer the time-eating headcrab it used to be.
I think it happens to everybody.

I had a phase where I stopped wanting to play PC games, so I went to bed and woke up the next day, and it had passed. I am 25, and I work for a living. I save up a lot of money to buy a house soon, but I spend part of it on PC game software and a couple PS3 titles that I felt were must have, like GTA IV and Starwars Force Unleashed. With new games coming out like Spore, and Farcry 2, and Fallout 3, how can you not want to game every chance you get. I know I do because I don't get those chances too often.
i kinda go thru phases, you'll probly find this too. i had one time where i watched only certain things, played little video games, times where i was hardcore gaming. i played a lot of pc games cause i had no console or played consoles cause i didn't have a good enough pc
now my gaming has mostly been on the ps3, haven't had a lot of pc games that really got me addicted, WoW kinda sucked a lot of that out. heck i play games for a bit, longer games i take a break from or when i get bored of parts of it, started on mgs4 cause i was a bit bored of gta iv
as for me i got a ton of movies to watch, still, a ton of books, just ordered more and i got a whole lot of warhammer fantasy miniatures and other ones i can paint, tho i think i need new paint.
i applaud you for doing other things, it's always healthy to do that cause then you are more interesting instead of a one dimensional person, it's something you'll find as you get older. you are growing up a bit and won't always like doing the same things as you did as a kid

Funny, the only game you mentioned that I have any interest in is Spore, and the demo wouldn't work on my computer for some reason (maybe Vista related, I don't know) so I'm weary about getting that. The only games left this year for me are Tales of Symphonia 2 and Left 4 Dead, which I'll get for birthday/Christmas. I think this happened to me while I was still in high school as well. As my passion for reading and learning increased, my passion for things like TV, video games, and movies decreased. I found myself voracious for learning and experiencing new things and the trivial stuff just seemed distracting or irritating. These days, I may watch 30 minutes to an hour of TV a week. Sometimes I'll go several without turning it on, although my girlfriend enjoys watching it at times. I'm more interested in going out and doing stuff, diving into a good book, be it fiction or non-fiction, and learning has never grown into a passion (well, except for when I was taking college algebra. Stupid college algebra). And, I'm lucky. My girlfriend enjoys it as much as I and we have some awesome deep and long conversations. Video games are fun now and then, especially when some of my buds come over. But, for the most part, I'd rather be doing something constructive.
In answer to your question, I think it shows that you're definitely maturing and that's OK. You can be mature, but still be a kid at heart. It doesn't mean that you're getting older, it means that you're growing wiser. I had an 70 year old prof. in graduate school (he was one of my favorites) who told me that he was working on his fifth doctorate degree. When I asked him why, he said, "When you stop finding the world amazing and trying to learn about it, you start growing old. My body may be 70, but my mind is 20!"

I did try a Photoshop trial at one point. Most of my creations tend to suck but it was still pretty fun. But it felt like a real suction of time. If I play video games anymore it is because I'm with friends. My taste in music has changed as well. I'm not sure if that's related, but I need to be able to hear what the singer's saying in order to listen to it. Classic Rock and the like.
So, I understand the gamer-to-quasi-intellectual thing.
