teaser trailer: Genuinely heart-wrenching story told in an interesting, fairly original manner, a fresh change from all the cut-n-paste self-aware zombie comedy movies/games out there.

launch trailer: *sad piano music* "BOO-YAH!"

I played it for about 4 hours with a friend tonight... I only stopped because he went to bed, and I figure I should do the same (yet here I am). It takes some getting used to, but once you're into the game, it's quite a bit of fun. Slow paced compared to what I'm used to, but I just think of it as a Fallout game, even though it's a bit faster (and so far cooler imo). I like killin zombies, and I like that my character doesn't have a ton of health. Sometimes it's just better to run and live than fight, and conserving your weapons can be important as well.

My friend rushes in and dies constantly though =\ You can't do that if you want to live... which is good.

I'm not much of a zombie fan and from what I hear, the game is an unpolished bugfest. Also, sounds a bit grindy and I hear all the weapons deteriorate rapidly, which is a mechanic I've always found utterly annoying. Basically, nothing in that game really draws me in. Right now, I'm on my 2nd playthrough of Deus Ex. After that's done, I'll be getting Space Marine (because Warhammer > Zombies any day of the week). After THAT'S done, I'll see if anything good came out. Dead Island is going on my list of games to look up when there's nothing good out...

Can't say I agree.
The reason seems to be more lack of marketing, I haven't heard all that much about it since the trailer, didn't even know it was out yet.

I really don't plan on buying it because it seems to be Left 4 Dead.

And I don't think there hasn't been talk because people have been playing it, its because the people who really care are chatting among themselves about it, while others are just sitting there waiting for another game to come that will, basically, in a nutshell, blow the game to smithereens in a month or so.
left 4 dead has no single player apeal

this however looks interesting, Im just worried it might turn out liek borderlands in the single player department

the only reason I turned off the game is because my controller died, and I needed to eat something. I myself had great pleasure in running zombies over with a truck, and basically doing whatever comes to mind.

I actually played it a bit earlier today, and so far, I like it. Not quite like Left4Dead (which I liked) because there's no unlimited ammo pistol to keep you safe. Weapons break with use, there were parts where all I could do was punch and kick zombies after my weapons all crapped out. But you also don't get swarmed by hundreds of them, at least not yet. It really reminds me a lot of Borderland, but with zombies.

It looked like an awesome game, but the reviews are in an apparently its half-finished, riddled with bugs and surprisingly shit.

I will not be buying

I hear it's story elements are lacking, it's glitchy, and all around not put together well. The reviews aren't all that great either. Plus I have my second run in Deus Ex, and a few hundred hours of Disgaea 4 to do first. After some patching and a price drop I may pick it up.

Left 4 Dead, and Dead Rising weren't games I enjoyed, this looks to be them both together, so I'm not that interested.
The reviews are averaging an 8, so it's getting good reviews. And the only glitchy version is the Dev version released on PC accidentally. They've since released the proper version, complete with patches.

And the story elements are what they should be, people working together to survive a horrible zombocalypse.

It's not gonna be Citizen Kane... but it can be citizen Kane with zombies.

I'm getting the game if I lack something to play between Space Marine and Rage or Rage and Skyrim. The concept is quite appealing to me, but I've heard from a couple of accounts that the story and characters really aren't anything to faff about, and those are pretty much the main things I look for in an RPG besides deep gameplay.

My buddy bought a four pack and handed his friends a copy, myself included.
Naturally my laptop went away for repairs yesterday so now I have to wait till tuesday to get the damn thing back so we can play four player co-op.

In Australia, we must wait. There are plenty of shrimp to cook on the barbie though.

I can see it isn't exactly like left4dead (more melee and rescuing survivors for a start), like the genre and zombies, so I'll get into it.
