Off the top of my head, the Arkham series, The Evil Within, Tomb Raider, God of War, Metal Gear Rising.

In nearly every game, it blows.
God of War? And what part was that? Assuming you're talking about the first game.

As for that list... I find it surprisingly short and filled with obscure titles (as well as straight-up cinematic platformers and story-first games) for as much as some people claim it's ruining modern AAA gaming.

I'm still finding unskippable cutscenes in games. Just a week ago, the last time I played a game, there was one in Doom that I had to watch over and over after dying.
And yet that's one of those games that prides itself on not wasting the player's time with cutscenes.

No, I'm talking about the new one. Why would I mean the first one? You asked for games of now. This new reboot naming convention is so pointlessly confusing.
Well, seeing as that game isn't out yet and we don't even know what if any forced walking sections there are, I assumed you meant the game you actually played. And what's to say there isn't a run button in that game, seeing as the initial reveal showed Kratos running through most of it?

Yeah, you can find unskippable cutscenes anywhere these days.
That's less a sign of the times and more one of the many annoyances that have plagued gaming since day one, like camera pans right after you've pulled a lever. I can remember having to sit through shit like that back in the PS1 days.

Didn't this trend begin with Half-Life 2, if not Half-Life 1? I mean, HL2 has unskippable cutscenes effectively. Not that I really minded, but if someone wants to skip them, tough luck.

That's a list of 49 games spread out over 30 years. Also, some of the entries are dubious, in that it's including collections (e.g. Assassin's Creed II is included, alongside The Ezio Collection), is including games where you do practically nothing but walking (which kind of breaks the point, or are suspect in my recollection (I can't remember a forced walking section in any Halo game outside Halo 5, unless it's including tutorial snippets where you're not shooting at anything).

Well, disagree. I find that often these sections work. There are times where it hasn't (there's a particular section in GoW 1 that's particuarly egregious, and Halo 5's attempt is mixed at best), but I find that these are exceptions rather than the rule. I agree that sometimes they should be skippable (which Gears allowed post-GoW 1 IIRC), but othertimes, it wouldn't work. Take Dead Space for example, the very first game. I suppose that's what the list refers to, but how do you even skip something like that? It's a great intro to the game, but skipping it would go to...what? When the necromorphs show up?

Can you specify which one? The only time I remember something like that would be the Cyberdemon, but the 'cutscene' lasts only a few seconds anyway.

It's short, but when you have to watch it again and again, it's not.
13 seconds? Please - try Final Fantasy X where cutscenes that last minutes play before boss fights and can't be skipped, no matter how times you try.

I mean, I do agree that cutscenes in general should be skippable, but I can't call this one particuarly egregious. Even the Cyberdemon wasn't that irritating, even if I saw the same thing over and over.

If Laggeyteabag does not like it;it's not worth making a big fuss about. I like the trilogy, and even I admitted that his has problems or could have used gameplay revamps for the first and second game.
i haven't played the remake trilogy yet as i don't own a PS4.

however i own the original 3 Crash games on PS1 and those games are awesome. laggyteabag hasn't played ANY crash games on the other hand...

It seemed like a quarter of my time in Half Life 2 was spent jumping around in circles along the walls while NPCs blathered on about a plot that I didn't care about.
