Didn't this trend begin with Half-Life 2, if not Half-Life 1? I mean, HL2 has unskippable cutscenes effectively. Not that I really minded, but if someone wants to skip them, tough luck.

A lot of them.

That's a list of 49 games spread out over 30 years. Also, some of the entries are dubious, in that it's including collections (e.g. Assassin's Creed II is included, alongside The Ezio Collection), is including games where you do practically nothing but walking (which kind of breaks the point, or are suspect in my recollection (I can't remember a forced walking section in any Halo game outside Halo 5, unless it's including tutorial snippets where you're not shooting at anything).

In nearly every game, it blows.
Well, disagree. I find that often these sections work. There are times where it hasn't (there's a particular section in GoW 1 that's particuarly egregious, and Halo 5's attempt is mixed at best), but I find that these are exceptions rather than the rule. I agree that sometimes they should be skippable (which Gears allowed post-GoW 1 IIRC), but othertimes, it wouldn't work. Take Dead Space for example, the very first game. I suppose that's what the list refers to, but how do you even skip something like that? It's a great intro to the game, but skipping it would go to...what? When the necromorphs show up?

Just a week ago, the last time I played a game, there was one in Doom that I had to watch over and over after dying.
Can you specify which one? The only time I remember something like that would be the Cyberdemon, but the 'cutscene' lasts only a few seconds anyway.
