well whilst i am sure you have put alot of effort into this, i have to ask:

whats the point?? your on a site where there are shed loads of proffessional reviewers. why bother posting your own opinion on something someone paid and used to reviewing has already done. you just waste everyone's time
Well why are you reading it then?
Also, people like to get an opinion from people like them, the vox populi if you will, even if that isn't a perfect analogy.
People have different opinins on things, and people who are payed to review things may be...
How do I out this lightly?
A slight bit biased with the correct persuasion from the developer to the company, normal people are under no such pressure.
Also, on an ad hominem side note, could you please do a spelling and grammar check on your posts?
It can get quite distracting.

Anyway, with that little rant over and done with, very nice review, you covered the essential points and pointed out the flaws.
I'm not a huge fan of war FPSes, but this definitely looks like a good game, even if I don't plan on buying it because I'm out of cash for games, having blown it all on God of War III.

What is the point?
The point is to get your opinion across to people. To tell people why you like this guy and why you think people should get it.

In fact, what you just said means that no one...at all should have ever written a review ever. Cause guess where the professional reviewers started out? At the bottom, writing reviews for a small group of people. But if they didn't do that at all, they wouldn't be where they are today.

Please get yourself out of the User Review section. I am sorry for being mean, but that is the only way I can put it. You obviously don't understand what "User Review" means. Again sorry for the negativity against you, but if you don't know what that means, you don't deserve to be here (In the review section if you meant in the Escapist).

OT: Nice, nice review sir. I enjoyed the read. It was short, but it was well written, well structured, good job. Keep it up.

"The melee animation is so drawn out and inaccurate that it would be safer and easier just to hipfire until they die."
That's the point. You're not going to find soldiers using knives IRL.

"The reload animations also take way too long."
Reloading takes time. Besides, what would the point be in carrying a sidearm if you could just reload instantly.
You're saying that they purposely made melee shit to make it more realistic? Are you sure that isn't a typo? Because, I'm sorry but, that doesn't make any fucking sense. And the reloadig isn't natural. It's almost as if they're taking their sweet time. At least in other FPSs, they look like they're in a warzone instead of a leisuerly day at the range.

Really nice review.

I've been thinking of getting this game but I'm still not sure. I don't mind playing the multiplayer but I usually go in for the singeplayer experience. So what I'm wondering is, how many hours would you say the sinpleplayer campaign is?
It's probably a little shorter than a story-focused player would like (roughly ten hours), but there are collectables along the way for replay value.

Okay, the knife thing makes perfect sense. Soldiers don't have their knives taped to their wrists so they can slash out at people at a moments notice. We aren't playing as Wolverine Marines or whatever the MW2 people are. You need a nice good stab to feasibly kill someone. Oh, and this is a gun fight, don't bring knifes except for a last resort or sneak attacks.

I've never had a problem with the reloading, but that's just me. As far as the bolt-action zooming out, imagine what it would be like if it was in the game. Remember how a bunch of people play as recon when they really shouldn't? Factor that in and they'd never quit. It also creates a bigger difference between the bolt-action and semi-auto rifles. You've gotta sacrifice one thing or the other.

That aside, excellent review.

They fixed the connection issue, first off go to the punkbuster site and download the program again to fix that, and to fix another bug download new video drivers for your card. I've literally had no connection problem nor has my friend who's had the game for 2 weeks and had gone through said problems

As for the reloading thing, that's kind of a silly thing to note. It's not about making THAT real, it's about making the game balanced, if you reloaded instantly what the hell would stop people from just mowing down entire bases? You're supposed to go in with a team and gun people down together, or switch to your pistol.

I don't know if i should buy this game, i think it would be good, i have xbox live but i don't want to be disappointed
Or should I keep playing MW2
Some people say it's bad, some say it's good
If you know a friend with it, I'd recommend borrowing it. You won't go back, trust me. I was a MW2 fan before I bought this.
Did you mean I won't go back to MW2 or BC2

Yes, the game is fun. But the controls are very slow and clunky. It has some good moment but you basically have to be playing with a group of friends, which isnt always possible. The action in the game is a little to slow, so in the end I am always drawn back to MW2.

Are you a cynic or an idiot? People are entitled to their opinion and if you think it's a waste of time then don't bloody read it. If everyone just accepted what reviewers said at face value then they would only play games that where well recieved by critics or games that got alot of attention, we'd never find little unheard of or indie gems that I sometimes love to play.

I completely agree, it's a balence issue. Only hole in that arguement is that the .50 Cal makes every gun in game look like a pea shooter and it's semi auto... I also don't find reload times to be an issue, it does actually take some time to reload a gun IRL, you can't just stick the mag in smack it once to ensure it's in cock it and start rocken and rolling again.

I recently ordered this from CDwow, still waiting for it to arrive! But im pretty damn excited. What is the significance of squads though, im a little confused. Is it just like being in a party?

EDIT:

All I'm saying is that exiting the zoom just seems unnecessary. In real life, snipers who shoot bolt action never take their eye from the scope, so why should they do that in video games?
In real life they also have spotters aswell, and im pretty sure they dont run down the street sniping :D
?

If you try that in every match i've played they get shot, alot

I'm on 360. I'm left to the mercy of EA. As for the reloading, I understand it's for balance, I'm just bothered by how unaturally slow it is.
I understand where you're coming from, it can be annoying but you just have to remember what it's for. It's the same reason the Heavy spins up his chaingun, the pyros fire is short and the spy can't stab while cloaked, balancing! Cue rainbow and matching song.

My gripe with the game is I'm playing as a medic to unlock...the medic tools, and it's not exactly easy when your light machine gun does not take anyone down at close range. I started shooting at someone from the rear, he turns around and guns me down with an assault rifle. That's right, I shot first, at his BACK and he still killed me with a smaller gun.

Melee isn't shit. The only time it doesn't work is when the you attack from the front and the enemy guns you down first. The time it takes to draw and give a forceful stab with your knife is fairly reasonable. And as far as melee systems go, this one has a fairly generous lock-on.
