As an American I don't know a whole lot about british political parties. I've been looking at the BNP website and haven't seen anything about promoting fascism. The only controversial thing I've seen is their idea to ask and pay immigrants(presumably non citizens) to voluntarily leave Britain.

This woman (I forgot her name) was angry, and rightfully so, seeing as she is an immigrant and her child (who is mixed race) would be considered ILLEGAL under the BNP
I didn't see anything about that on their web page. Is there a source for this claim or what?

On further reading I seen that a couple of the BNP leaders belonged to nazi-like parties in the past. While this is deplorable I wonder how many labour MP's belonged to far left groups in the past.

I'm wondering whether the BNP deserves all the hate it's getting because in the U.S. Republicans are often called fascists by left wingers

Some guy from the BNP was on C4 news today. He said they weren't racist because they didn't go around beating up blacks XD I had to laugh.
And they were in Barnsley shouting the odds like they do. I found it ironic they were situated outside Body shop which was set up by an immigrant.

Coming over here and taking our jobs, eh?

Does nobody see the irony in the BNP being elected to european parliament?
they're nationalists for god's sake.
I was just about to say that. I had someone from the BNP turn up at my house a couple of days ago. You don't fully appreciate the ignorance and racism of these people until you talk to them. Or until you read the Daily Express. They're basically the same thing.

The BNP have been working really hard recently to change it's public image in the last few years, this is why they've been getting a few extra votes recently, and is also why you wont find many of their more controversial opinions on their site.

Doesn't change the fact that there are the same people at the top as there were a few years back when they didn't try to hide their racist, homophobic and anti-semetic views.

As a Brit who doesn't hold an allegiance to any particular party, take it from me: those guys are bad news, and every bit as fascist as this thread may lead you to believe.

Alternatively there's my view on the BNP:

Racist cunts.
Nice and straight-forward.

I'm against them due to the same reason as you really. My great-grandfather was Polish, so (even though it's small) I still have Polish heritage. Therefore Me, my mum, my baby brother and sister, my grandad, my uncles, a large bunch of my friends (who have Polish, Asian and African heritages, aswell as a lot of others) will be kicked out of the country. Also, my stepdad is a manager of a KFC in my town (I know, not spectacular but stick with me) and it would completely shut down since he's the only British person who works there. All the rest are either Polish, Asian or Romanian.

EDIT: Oh, got a BNP leaflet about a month ago, I scribbled every instance of Natioanl and replaced it with Nazi, since that's what they are really. They're the new BUF (British Union of Fascists)

Ok I'll take your word for it. After doing a little research I've found two prominent cabinet members who were part of ultra left wing groups.

Alistair Darling was a supporter of the International Marxist Group, the British section of the Trotskyist Fourth International.

Alan Johnson joined the Labour Party in 1971, although he considered himself a Marxist ideologically aligned with the Communist Party of Great Britain.

Anyone who condemns the BNP for its leaders awful statements and group identifications should be calling these guys dirty commies.

I live in Leeds right now, so basically Yorkshire. Walking past a newspaper stand in the city today, I saw a headline saying that the BNP won the Yorkshire seat for the EU Parliamentary elcections. This actually surprised me, for two reasons. First, Yorkshire has quite a few university towns (York and Leeds being the main two, with over 30000 students in Leeds alone). Students generally are unsupportive of the BNP and there have been a lot of campaigns by students recently in Yorkshire against the BNP. Second, Yorkshire has a lot of ethnic minority people living in the region, most notably in Bradford, which has the highest local population of Pakistanis in the country. For these reasons I'm extremely surprised that the BNP managed to gain enough support in the region to gain those seats.

As for my opinion on the BNP, I have to agree with the Captain. Racist cunts, the lot of them.

I'd be more supportive of Norsefire than the BNP, and that's saying something...

EDIT: For the record, I voted Conservative.
The reason is that while there is a majority Asian population, barely any of them vote (and i'm honestly unsure actually how many of them are able), thus the ones who vote are the white people, and in a predominantly Asian location the white people feel the minority and thus are most attracted to the poison candy the BNP is offering.

Ironically the prosperous places with white majorities aren't their target audience as they'll never get their vote, it's the mostly Foreign communities in which white people feel all most opressed which they target.

Not that i believe white people are opressed at all mind you, i feel that (before the recession when jobs became alot more scarce) the immigrant were doing the jobs that white people refused to do because they are "too good" for it. If the immigrants all got deported, sure it would open up shitloads of jobs, but it would also make the country collapse as we wouldn't have a sufficient workforce.

Sidenote: you have to bare in mind that it was a European election, which people in the UK generally take alot less seriously, and can often be used as a protest vote, thus you could have people voting in an attempt to shock people, even though they'd never actually dream of trying to get the BNP into government.

bnp gained seats cause barely anyone voted
the only people that voted were people who felt strongly about the issue

and yes, it is exactly the fault of the people who voted
half of the people who voted them probably dont even know their policies

dipshits without an ounce of brains
well tehy can go fuck 'emselves, cause if bnp ever won the elections, there'd be massive protests and rebellion across the country
it'd be so much worse than the thatcher days and would be an embarrassing point in the history of britain

trust, if nick griffin ever became prime minister, hed be assassinated in days if not hours

Amen my friend.

I do not support the BNP but i cant see what the fuss is about. If people vote for the BNP then the majority of people have spoken, But its not going too happen.

The main problem we have in this country is that we are currently choosing between the shineyist turd.

The Labour goverment have done so much for the country - When they were elected into power unemployment was on a record high & they managed too get it right down. They never really (until recently) cut back on public spending, and they also strengthened the NHS. I feel brown should step down & someone else take control of the labour party, Preferably someone we havent heard of, as top brass labour are...well...Like the tories.

Two reasons why the tories shouldnt get in power - Maggie thatcher & John Major. The counrty went downhill sharply when they were in power.

Lib dems....Just...Well...Meh...

Ukip are like a mild BNP but so far theyre the one that gets my vote unfortunately.

Green party want to stop new roads, ports & airports...And they think thats a way Forward?!?

----

One thing i dont agree with is the hostile actions against the BNP. Everyone has a right too theyre views. If people do not like them then they voice them in a political debate, not too attack them like savages.
