My word L4D2 is a joyless experience offline.

I played co-op with a friend recently with no special monsters (just regular zombies) and the number of mobs increased. It had always bothered us that we were helpless when caught by a smoker, hunter, or jockey. I guess that is the game's way to force co-op, but it seems arbitrary that you simply cannot save yourself.

It was an interesting experience. It seemed more desolate and creepy, allowed us to concentrate more on the experience rather than watching out for the special of the moment.

Insults? I see no insults. Where are these insults you speak of?

If you justified your position as to why you didn't like L4D2 (a strategic team-based shooter) but you did like COD (also a strategic team-based shooter), instead of attacking him for pointing something out, you might add something worthwhile. Can you really not see why this seems odd in context?
I don't have to justify anything to someone who implies my opinion on L4D2 is not valid due to enjoying COD. That's not pointing something out, that's antagonism.

In my post I said 'I found' L4D to be dull and repetitive. That's just how I felt about it.

And here's my justification, for the third time :

People like different things.

Why do I prefer COD to L4D? More ways to play. More weapon variety, more fluid controls, more gametypes, better graphics, 60FPS beats 30, playing against people is more fun to me than being overwhelmed by zombies (no, I don't enjoy zombies in Black Ops either), a campaign with more than 4 maps.

Left 4 Dead 2 a joyless, soulless experience for me offline and online.

And the AI is terribad. Can't rely on them for shit.
Yeah I remember when a Smoker strangled me from near full health while they stood right next to me and watched the whole time. Kind of hilarious in hindsight.
That's actually what happened to me the first time I played L4D1. = =' Blagh.

LFD2 on Steam has always been a hoot. I can play for hours and lead the team in infected kills, damage done, assists, ect.

I've tried it on console, and I just can't get in the groove of it. The controls are all off for me. I tried to multiplay it online with the 360, and all I did was manage to get booted five minutes in. Fully understandable, since it seemed like I was using my face to operate the controller.

On the PC I'm a crack shot. On the console, I'm shooting crack, apparently.
totally agreed. i just dunno how people enjoy it on the 360.. especially split screen, when you dont even get as much viewing room to look at what youre doing. It's a position i assert repeatedly to my console loving friends.. feeling a bit outnumbered tbh.

And in my experience, L4D isn't much better online either, especially on the 360, I've been kicked from so many matches for not doing things to the exact specifications it's not even funny. Or the assholes, dear god the friendly firing, trash talking assholes.
So, I guess the L4D community on the 360 hasn't gotten any better since I played. I think every match I was in ended with some griefer grabbing a shotgun, taking out the other three players at a chokepoint and then running off to get swarmed before logging out.

OT: I got L4D2 after all of my friends stopped playing and remembering how terrible the community was, I didn't even bother playing online. I returned it within a week because it just wasn't fun without teamwork and banter.

Yeah, L4D (both 1 and 2) become pretty dull offline once you've completed each of the campaigns. It really gets better online when your allies are intelligent (well at least aren't AI stupid, I mean the AI can notice a boomer in the bushes and take it out fine but are too stupid to realize that reviving a downed teamate isn't a good idea when the fucking tank is over you!) and you can play as the infected which becomes soooooo much fun.

Ok, it's pretty clear where this is going, so I'll just point out, in advance, that you claimed "other people" found CoD repetitive, as an argument as to why Miracle's opinion on L4D isn't as valid as anyone else. Don't deny that much, because whether you meant it or not that was the implication. There're different style of repetition, in a game like CoD the game might not be repetitious at all - after all it's multi-player so the same thing rarely happens twice, it's only repetitious as in gameplay style, but this is the case in almost any game. Whilst in L4D there're only a small number of possible places the horde will spawn, and even if they spawn in a different area you're still ultimately doing the same thing continuously, rather than facing constant unique situations.
I hate it when you defeat them with logic and common sense and they just fuck off and don't post a reply.
