Xbox 360 developers have confirmed that even with their knowledge that they released Xbox 360's where the disc goes around too fast in the system which leads to scratches.

Doesn't Xbox have HDD or something, you can store games you play more often there. I don't know I don't own any consoles.

yes but you still need the disk to play, it just lowers sound and loading screens
also, it takes up a load of memory

the disk thing? i have that with loads of games
its a risk you have to take with having a good console
[warning] NO ONE MENTION PS3 PLEASE (damn!)[/warning]

Well if it reduses the sound it means the disk is rotating slower and to look at the first replay thats what causes the problem.

This is a common problem caused by poorly designed hardware that Microsoft refuse to take the blame for. The problem is that the disk is not properly secured, so any vibration in the house could potentially cause the disk to get scratched.

More information can be found here [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_technical_problems#Scratched_discs].

Also you probably don't but make sure that you don't put the 360 on it's side, that scratches the disks real bad.

I've had this happen to two of my games on the 360, it's called laserburn, and it occurs when you so much as nudge the console while the disk is spinning. It's worst when you have it vertical and then knock it to the side slightly.

You can get them resurfaced for about £3 at some game shops, that should fix it.

Yes it is. As usual, Microsoft's attitude is "Hey, we have shitloads of money, and people are stupid enough to keep buying our crap no matter how many times it breaks down. We can write this off as a business expense."

They're a company of arseholes, and they won't change their ways until consumers change theirs, and stop buying their crap.

Just don't ever move the Xbox when the disc is spinning, like it's already been said, and if you ever need to move it, be *extremely* careful and keep in mind some games (Resident Evil 5, Fable 2, etc) are prone to scratching no matter what you do.

Be careful, be smart, and don't be afraid to contact Microsoft Support if anything goes wrong. I did, and managed to get my Xbox fixed for free.

the Hexcube is a fad, the Ps3 is a fad (if not a bad one). the PC IS THE GAME MASTER

putting a disk drive on its side is generally going to scratch the disks badly because they are not designed to hold disks that way

Microsoft just put a shitty DVD drive in the 360 and they're not going to make a new one. ***** to Microsoft about it, and they should fix it. Also, try putting some form of protection on your disks.

Leaving your xbox horizontally would be the best idea for solving this. However if it's resting on a carpet or similar surface, it will cause heating issues. Rest it horizontally on a wooden surface and it should be fine. Alternatively, buy one of the newest models of xbox 360's. There are over 10 different disk drive types that went into these consoles, and the new ones won't scratch disks like this.
