Dang, I'm impressed. I wouldn't have a clue under which law (if any) I'd be protected. Also amused at the Akbar and Ishman crack. Sometimes I just go directly to the supervisor. I tell them there's no way that two accents such as ours can successfully communicate anything technical.Sniper_Zegai said:Im taking it back today to Gamestation, luckly Im protected under the Sales of Goods Act 1979 under which if I am sold a faulty unit with a "inherent manufacturing flaw" which Microsoft have admitted to be an issue in consoles sold before late 2006, I am entitled to a replacement or full refund. Im going to try and avoid MS support on this one as when I actually phoned them, Akbar and Ishman were not very helpful (not a joke).
Read my later posts. Gamestation are fucking me around.werepossum said:Dang, I'm impressed. I wouldn't have a clue under which law (if any) I'd be protected. Re: Foreign tech support - very rude and non-PC but funny.

Being from the USA I have a hard time imagining government having a quick solution to anything, but good luck. I don't know what MS was thinking on this - did they have Eskimos do beta testing? You need one of those little apartment-sized fridges to contain your XBox. Except it's probably sensitive to cold as well. And possibly electricity.Sniper_Zegai said:Put simply, the law is on my side but the cure is worse than the sickness in this case. As I said Im gonna ring the department of trading standards when they open and hopefully they will have some sort of qiuck solution.
The only good thing is that if I pay for repair they will extend my warranty. What a piss take.
The problem Im experiencing does'nt really have anything to do with the cooling system, and although there are problems related to cooling with earlier Xbox 360's, the problem Im facing is brought on by a missing component in the DVD drive that protects the disc.werepossum said:Being from the USA I have a hard time imagining government having a quick solution to anything, but good luck. Unfortunately Ive been having PC trouble as well, I just found out that my graphics card was built for Windows Vista.Katana314 said:This is why people own PCs!
Look hard enough, and you'll probably be able to find a free game capable of keeping you addicted for weeks on end. At least until the 360 gets back.
I don't know about you but when I phoned MS Xbox support they were friendly but it was clearly some kind of Indian call centre. I got pissed at one woman who didn't really deserve it when I talked to them.TheNecroswanson said:Only problem I ahd with my first 360, was it died. I also had a very intrictae Doom3-esque pentagram drawn on it. I sent it in for "repairs" and was uninformed that it was simply being replaced.
CS said it was not their fault I was not informed it was being replced and I was at fault for misconstruing the term 'repair'.
I couldn't figure out why Customer Service was shunning me. I used to work Customer Service for a cellular company. and I was never rude, I was always friendly and helpful and worked miracles. So why? What did I do to gain the god of Customer Care's wrath?
Hey don't knock Viva Pinata until you've tried it.ultra_v_89 said:Mine's a newer model, came with Forza 2 and (groan) Viva Pinata. Although I love the little white box, it does sometimes refuse to eject the cd drive. I keep it up-right and sometimes it just won't open, I think its get stuck on something as it moves about a milimeter. Also, a cousin of mine is on his second 360, the old one encountered the red ring of death, although with the time he spent on it, it would have sustained less damage if it was fired into the sun.

I have a very similar problem with my DVD drive. It wont open sometimes and I have to push the disc tray to the left to get it to pop open, I think its getting caught on something on the inside.
