I came across MYO today: https://getmyo.com/

Control devices with intricate hand gestures (and a good ol' accelerometer) by detecting electrical activity directly in your muscles.

Can we finally "wave goodbye" (as MYO put it) to visual motion control such as Kinect and devices such as the Wii use?

What awesome uses would you put this to in your gaming experience?

Visual motion control can have it's uses, lightgun shooters for example wouldnt feel the same without anything in your hand.

Well first off you need to try this thing before any of their claims can be confirmed, there is plenty of motion control attempts out there, however I have yet to see a cheap one perform even half decently, only thing that is accurate enough to be properly usable is the razor waggle shit.

And even then I find myself at the question "why the hell would I waggle some shit to play games"... and I have not yet found a good answer.

call me skeptical but i'll put my money on the tech working maybe 50% as well as the video indicates, FFS the video looks exactly like the average WII or kinect commercial and we all know how good those are in reality....

provided it works even close to as advertized you can basically sign me up right now and i'd bet it would be a game changer world wide

I'm hoping it will work pretty much as advertised. Detecting muscle movement from electrical activity isn't even anything new, just look at the prosthetics industry. I saw a TV show recently that showed some incredible robot hands which took their input from a very similar system... and that was for moving a hand, this idea is much simpler in reality.

Like you, I'm all for it... if it does work. Though like Mr. K. says, I too have never been sold on its usage in games - but damn, around the house, MYO would practically be magical.
