Does anyone remember playing this game? Do those who played it remember it being horrendously difficult, yet still a blast to play?

Oh yeah, that brings back memories and I might even still have the disc for it lying around somewhere. Can't remember much about how difficult the puzzles were but I do remember having fun playing it.

I played Riven not that long ago, fun series. Had a few fuck you moments but it's an adventure game, they all do.

I played it with my dad when I was little so that's probably why I thought it was so difficult. I have the disk here somewhere so I should probably go back and give it another go.

I own it...but I can't install it.

If I had an older computer to install it on, I could just copy it over to windows 7, and it'd work fine. ...I just can't run the 16-bit installer :( and I don't want to buy it again.

Ah yes, Myst III.

I was a big fan of this particular game, though I did always like the series up to that point. Since I couldn't afford a computer that could run it (being the "impressive technical giant" that it was), I played the PS2 version of it.

It was, indeed, a brain-herniating experience, but the pay-off was beyond delightful.

I'm over joyed to find other people that liked it. The fact that the actors were basically videos of real people was awesome beyond belief. The environments were awesome, too.

Myst changed my gaming life pretty much.
Getting Riven for Christmas one year was pretty elating.

MYST III

I THOUGHT I WAS A LONELY MYST FAN IN A SEA OF NOT-FANS ON THIS SITE

AAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

It's not my favorite Myst game, but that's not saying it's bad by any means, it's utterly fantastic. Brad Dourif remains the most threatening actor I've ever seen. The puzzles are hard, but fair. The visuals are drop-dead gorgeous for the time. I LOVE it.

So yeah, count me as a mega-fan.

I played it once when I first got the original Xbox when I was about 10. Played about 20 minutes of it, got stuck and could not for the life of me figure it out. I probably should go and pick it back up somewhere- I was a little too young for that game at the time.

Oh yeah, many times. The Myst series was my bloody childhood, of course I played it. :) Lot of cool moments, and the design of the environments was fantastic. I still think I like Riven better, but Myst 3 was certainly a fine game. Still need to complete the fourth game though. Screw that stupid bloody monkey puzzle...

That's funny. I could have sworn there were FOUR discs. All I remember from playing Exile is the rainbow puzzle from the first world. I was eight or nine when my dad walked in with the game, so I could never figure out how to get past the damn door. I reinstalled it a few years later when I was finally in possession of a dialup connection and looked followed a walkthrough just to see the ending. I might try my hand at it again just to see how far I get.

I think it might be my favorite Myst game. Although Riven is probably cleverer and deeper with tougher puzzles, Exile was just so much fun from beginning to end.
