I'm gonna take a shot in the dark and say Fallout 1 or 2.
I thought GOG already had the Fallout games.

My shot in the dark: Daikatana. John Romero's gonna make you his *****...again.
My responsible research fail.

Beyond Good and Evil, perhaps?
Thats already out on the site.

For anyone that cares heres a list of the clues to date.

The return of incredible karmic awareness.

Where history overlaps with the present time.

They are two different characters, but they complement each other beautifully.

Clueing you in. Within the confines of Ohio.
Ohio's secret place.

A messenger is not named for a soldier, but precedes one.

There was also an interview with one of the top gog guys a while back for a polish website, which said one of the top 3 publishers would be coming to gog in the first part of 2010. Its likely this countdown is for that but only time will tell.

Well. Turns out unexcelled means "not capable of being improved on" or "Excelling all others in some way". Which surprised me... So, maybe we'll get lucky, and they're going to release an I.P that never gets a sequel!! Luke that's stupid. Hey, shut up.

I have no idea. I'm not very good with riddles.

Sam and Max would be my only guess but I doubt that's right.

Hmmm.... with all these hints, plus the meaning of unexcelled, and including some rumors I remember hearing about a few months back, I'm getting an eerie sense that this could be FFVII, especially with the SOLDIER reference casually slid into the clues. Not sure how Ohio fits into all of that though :/

I do know that Planescape Torment has been a holy grail for GOG, so if they're this excited about something...well, it's gotta be a pretty big deal.

I'm falling in with the Troika/Arcanum theory. That was twisted enough that it makes the most sense to me.

SysShock2 is definately another good choice, but as much as I would love to see Torment I doubt that would be the case. I asked GOG about it a long time ago when they got Interplay on board and they basically said that WotC was putting a clamp on selling any product that used previous eds of D&D so it didn't look good.

Two more official hints have been added:

4. A messenger is not named for a soldier, but precedes one.
5. Ohio's secret place.

For a brief summary of interesting guesses I came across on the GOG board.

1. The return of incredible karmic awareness = TROIKA
4. A messenger is not named for a soldier, but precedes one = Gabriel Knight
5. Ohio's secret place = Arcanum, Ohio (Try googling the town)

PS:T is being sold at retail again now, so it's possible. I'm not sure the clues fit, though. Arcanum seems more likely, given what others have said.

Excelled? Isn't it obvious, Mircosoft are going to released another Mircosfot excel, making spreadsheets cool again!
Wow... that really makes sense.

OT: NOT CAPABLE OF BEING IMPROVED IS THE THE DEFINITION OF UN EXCELLED! Eh hm. So it can't be improved? Hmm... probably poor translation so a crappy sequel? Preview? Review? Something like that!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the player allowed to pick whether or not J.C. Denton was a guy or a gal?
You are wrong, you could only pick JC's skin color and 'real name' - you're thinking of the sequel Invisible War, where you play Alex Denton and could choose gender as well.

Supposedly "Official Hints" posted by a moderator in the GOG forums:
1. The return of incredible karmic awareness.
2. Where history overlaps with the present time.
3. They are two different characters, but they complement each other beautifully.
Wait, #2 is a real clue? Ooh! That sounds so much like the Legacy of Kain series, with Kain and Raziel, given the alternate focus on those two very different but complimentary characters, and all the time-streaming. Except I'm not really sure 'karmic awareness' fits in so much...

But hey, Good Old Games doesn't currently carry any Eidos titles so it's at least as plausible as Deus Ex, given those are also Eidos titles.
Holy shit I think it's Legacy of Kaine along with the Vampire series... ZOMG

The big announcement can already be found at a few sites, and there are some correct guesses here.

Over at the GOG forums people are just waiting for the official announcement, so we can start spending our money!

There are quite a lot of games from this publisher I would be very happy to buy.

Less than 30 minutes to go!

[edit] Well, the website has ground to an almost complete halt, but I can officially announce that Activision have come to Good Old Games! Hopefully this will be the start of all major publishers distributing games through GOG.

I just received this newsletter: http://www.gog.com/en/newsletter/activision

They're going to include Activision games and they already started with the marvelous Arcanum, and Gabriel Knight! For only USD 5.99 these are must-buys for those who don't already own them.

[small]A shame it's not Planescape though :([/small]
