Now that I grabbed your attention, I'm hoping some of you are nice enough to recommend me some books or large collections of mythology stories, I'm more interested in Greek, Norse, and Japanese mythology, but any suggestion would be appreciated. Thank you.

Norse mythology is all story based and is, in my opinion, quite fascinating. I do not know any collections of these storys, so you'll have to do that on your own.

Books on Mythology well sir i'm afraid your search will almost get you nowhere if your looking for a complete recollection of most of those because most of the stories were passed around by word of the mouth and with that your bound to have changes upon changes as the stories weren't recorded. However you can find a story of the modern gods somewhere try your local library or bookstore

The Legends of Olympus volumes 1 and 2.

The first volume deals with the birth of the Gods and 2nd deals with the children of the Gods.

Since you are interested in Norse Mythology i'll assume you have read the Edda. It's the collection of Norse myths if i remember correctly. If not, you might want to check that out.
The Enuma Elish (Babylonian Creation myth) is also quite a nice story if you have no problem with it being written in poetic form (?).

well if it counts you might want to try "Divine Comedy" which of course is the basis of Dante's Inferno

"The Legendary Past" is a good series of books on mythology... That is, if you like all of the stuff that goes along with it... Sources and such. It's not really a sit-down-and-read kind of entertainment, but it will definitely teach you something! My mythology course uses several of the books as opposed to a single text. I like it. ^^;;

Those all sound good, I was trying to get some helpful tips on books that don't overlap a lot with other books, also I'll take any suggestions on novels with mythological references.

I don't know that these would be what you're looking for, but when I was a kid I used to read D'Aulaires' Book of Greek Myths and D'Aulaires' Book of Norse Myths. They're extremely comprehensive and taught me almost everything I know about Greek and Norse mythology.

A good book I used early on was Cliffsnotes on Mythology. As for Japanese, I have a handful of books I have on my Christmas list, if you'd be interested in the titles.

I have a mythological omnibus titled "Mythology: The illustrated anthology of world myth and storytelling". It's big enough to down a horse, and is basically a compilation of several myths from all over the world. While it's anything but comprehensive, and lends far too many pages to Egyptian, Greek and Roman mythology in my opinion, it's still extremely fascinating. Unfortunately, the Norse don't get nearly enough screentime, nor do the Japanese. However, I'd still recommend it.

The general editor is C. Scott Littleton.

Unfortunately, it will overlap, being a very general anthology, but it's a good compilation nonetheless.

I would be very interested in hearing about those books, mostly, I went to a book store and stared blankly at all the mythology books and got lost. :S

If your interested in the mythology try 'Age of Mythology' the game.

It's a decent RTS and every unit is fleshed out with quite a considerable bit of mythological backstory/detail.

The game is really old - you could probably buy it and it's expansion pack (dealing with the fathers, and enemies of the gods the titans) for under a tenner.
