Thandel the First Faithful - Mainland Mereton

Thandel had begun his trek to find the Mereton army. It would be a long journey as they were quite far north, so there was time to make some stops. He gallivanted about a few bandit groups slaughtering them as fealty to themeron, and even attacted a small group of followers who he simply named "The Troop." They wanted to see the blessing of themeron up close but had not attained themeron eye. He was more concerned about Thandel in the Merton theater.

"Thandel, I demand you continue on your journey. Spread my word. Link up with the army and summon me by name."

Thandel Radiating with the Energy of the god nodded. "Onward my troop! The Merton lords must know his glory!"

Themeron's Fortress

Themeron Paced back and forth, he learned of the presences of other god within his realm. These god Embodied different aspects, and each one rivaled his power, he would need to learn more about them, they were around more than him and thus poised greater threat. But to further learn more about the mortal plain and it's inhabitants was imperative. He would require another mortal to carry his name. One again themeron became ethereal and journeyed to the mortal plain seeking out a new faithful.

Allow Thandel to continue to the merton. Themeron himself Journeys to the mortal plain and seeks out another champion.

Gangari and Lysei, 7/15 AP

Gangari stood in the open of an old and abandoned Ajivhan field and spoke the words "Lysei, I require your assistance in a matter" as a message to the other god.

Lysei appeared from the shadows in a great blaze of fire before asking. "As expected. What is it you need assistance with?"

"One of my priestesses, Cawles has served me faithfully for the past twenty six years. If I do not intervene soon she is likely to succumb to the hostilities of age. With your assistance I would like to grant her immortality."

Lysei looked surprised, and had an amused grin on his face. "Immortality for a mortal? That's what you want in the trade? Priests tend to come and go, but it is not really my business as to what you want, just that I owe you this." Lysei clapped his hands. "So be it then. Go find her, I will lend you my power when it is needed."

Gangari nodded and said "Thank you" before walking away.

Gangari and Cawles

As the sun rose over the Corvan settlement of Rederick's Rest a knock arrived on the door of Cawles new home.

Outside stood Gangari with a proud smile on his face.

Even with Cawles' age, her aching bones vanished at the sight of the God himself. She bowed as much as she could before raising back her head.

"Excuse these old bones, Gangari." Cawles said, using her spear as a sort of walking stick to help her across the room. "I thank you for this opportunity. I've always wanted to help people but my own people don't seem that keen on doing so but with this, you've offered me something even better than I could have imagined: a new beginning. Excuse the sentimentality, what brings you here?"

"You're welcome." He paused momentarily before continuing "Sentimentality is what brings me here. I have been watching you for a long time now. You have served me and the people's of these lands exceptionally and I thank you for that." He paused again "We should sit."

He dissapeared only to reappear sitting on an oak chair at a table a few feet from where they were talking, he waited for her to join him before continuing.

"I believe you are one of the few who could withstand the gift I'd like to offer you. Life Eternal, the removal of the barriers separating mortal and immortal existence." He took a moment to let it sink in before he finished "Though before you decide whether or not you accept this, I'd like you to take a moment to think about it."

The question startled Cawles visibly. The thought of immortality was one that belonged to Gods and divine beings but now here was a God asking if she wanted immortality. She didn't know how long it would take her to realize the enormity of the question but she felt like with immortality, she would find out soon enough. She couldn't help but feel pressured by the question as all her years in this mortal earth, this was one of the ways she wouldn't be mortal. If she accepted the question then she faced the sands of time shifting effortlessly through the world. Her perception of time would also change without a doubt. Years would go by and she wouldn't even blink.

Cawles let out a deep sigh before looking to Gangari. "If it means that I can help this world even more... then yes."

Gangari nodded once before speaking "I once stood in the same place you stand now. I asked for you to consider it because I knew the problems you're concerned of and at times still know them. But as with all problems with some focus, intelligence, and creativity they are something that can be overcome."

He then pulled a bottle of orange coloured wine from the air and made two bronze coloured goblets appear on the table. "But enough of that. Would you like a drink?"

[hr]

Rederick, Rederick's Rest.

"Let me get this straight. You broke your oaths to Your God, Your Brothers, and Your Wives all in one afternoon."

The two Justiciars squirmed in their seats.

"You know our laws..." Rederick Sighed "But The Father sees potential in you both and so he has asked for leniency. You have a choice. Confess what happened to your families and undertake a penitent watch in the north, or we'll inform your families of what happened and expel you from the order."

One of the men spoke up and then the other, both saying the same thing "I'll take the first option."

Rederick then said to one of the guards watching over the exchange "Take them to their watch commander, he has his instructions" before waving them out of the room.

After the room had been cleared out he pulled a piece of paper and a pen out from the desk. He needed to make sure the Yish'Tai that were joining them understood the law. After this incident they needed to understand that they and their bosses would be arrested beside their clients. If they questioned it, he'd tell them it was the mandate of God that they not whore themselves out for money. He'd task one of the administrators with teaching the ones that wanted to reform themselves, and a group of Justiciars with finding any that didn't.

The diseases and sins of the old nations couldn't be allowed to take root here.

Jubal, The University of Silver-root

Jubal had been sent back into his old homeland, they needed the university before their knowledge base could be considered self sufficient.

One of the less used halls was taken over in a night, the researchers and their projects relocated to other unused places. Guards were placed at the entrances and exits to make sure only the people that they wanted involved were involved.

The brightest men and women of every service and study of the Collective stood infront of him to begin work on the first project mandated of their new nation by Gangari. Development of scientific methodologies based upon those of the Deep Tribes, and the intelligent organization of mages based upon their skills and later their ideologies for more focused collaboration.

The word he had been told to use to describe the organizations were Sphere Cults. There were four cults to be founded today with members of each group being siphoned off to make a fifth group after skills had been re-evaluated in a weeks time. More were to be founded over time as skills developed and new sources of power had been discovered.

The First Four Cults were that of Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. The Fifth mandated Cult to be formed was that of the Aether. The Cult of Air was to contain those focused upon the field of physics and was to develop the work of The Cult of Aether into usable designs and ideas. The Cult of Earth was to contain those focused upon the fields of Architectural and Mechanical Engineering. The Cult of Fire was to contain those focused upon the fields of Weapons Engineering and Chemistry as well as the few Genners amongst the Collective. The Cult of Water was to contain those focused upon the field of Biology as well as the few water benders amongst the collective. The Cult of Aether was to contain those dedicated to less practical and esoteric applications of magic as well as the artists of the Collective, their intended purpose was to be theoretical work and development of advanced uses of magic.

The method's development would likely be completed at the same time as completion of the formation of the cults which would allow it to be quickly worked into the doctrines of the cults. Magic and Science fused together in glorious harmony for the betterment of the Collective and perhaps some day the world.

He yelled aloud over the noise of the crowd and began giving assignments. It was going to be a long day.

In another secured part of the university, personnel were copying archived records to take back to the Collective and sanitizing the originals in an attempt to prevent another tragedy forming from the ruins of old Ajivha.

Cyth'raul, Southeast Grassland Expanse - 3/10 AP

Well, at least the Obelisk would tower over the plains. But this wouldn't do. Cyth'raul tried again. However, if it failed, there was other - more direct - ways to remind the human nations of the Pactforger's presence.

DC: 11 - Constructing a large building by divine hand. +2 Guidance.

Aetherial Collective

The Collective successfully researched scientific methodology, sphere cults and living metal growing/harvesting with the help of the Auroran University of Silverroot, hoping that this knowledge would bring greater yields to their nation in future endeavours.

Aurora

The Auroran army continued their march across the Ray-Das lands, both in the south with the assistance of the Raptor States as well as the west coast alone, though supported by their trusty dragon riders. A great number of victories were obtained until the entire shoreline of the Ray-Das nation had fallen to the Aurorans, though their search for the Queen continued to bear no fruit. Despite the troubled times, some trade restrictions were relaxed with the Kingdom of Mereton after a diplomatic agreement, enriching both nations if only by a small margin.

Deep Tribes

The Luug's research into Common Pits and Tribeless Agents bore some fruit, although the latter would still have their work cut out for them to make a giant living rock somehow more inconspicuous. Their scouts also returned with news of various caves and holes that would be to their liking in the mountains to the north of their nation.

Grat Shee

The Grat Shee continued their busy research, implementing both metal arrow heads into their inventories as well as spreading advanced knowledge about the anatomy of animals. Their diplomat also reached the shores of Aurora safely after heading south and then east, eventually landing on the island of Xule after some direction from locals.

Mereton

The Kingdom's colonisation attempt was successful, meaning for the first time Mereton had a border with the sea in the east, as well as lengthening their border with their Auroran neighbours in Albur. Their mining research also bore fruit, though it would have to be implemented to see any gain in the nation's wealth. Their new horse collars on the other hand brought more immediate results, a new food boom that was welcomed in particular by the common people.

Raptor States

Aside from assisting their Auroran allies, the Krakari also implemented several strands of research into the creation of pistols, a tool that would find much use. Weapons were also shipped to the Collective as part of the links between the two nations.

Saranda

Yet more food was stored away by the Driders of Saranda to feed their hungry young, meanwhile food research and advanced settlement techniques were also finally implemented by the fledgling nation.

Gods

Cyth'raul

Cyth'raul's second attempt was more successful and the rocks of the mountain were shaped into a gleaming black obelisk, complete with pictograms and writing in various mortal scripts. All instructed of how request deals with the Pactforger, usually in exchange for worship.

Drya

Drya's power almost failed her but she kept going and eventually blessed Princess Hild with the ability to nurture all sorts of plant life.

Lysei and Gangari

Cawles Strix, a Krakari priestess of Gangari, was granted immortality and invulnerability by the allied gods, although certain stipulations applied. For this gift she was very grateful.

Theremon

Theremon and his first warrior continued to travel across the Kingdom of Mereton, seeking battle and doing deeds that bards would later sing of... perhaps.

Emperor Maximus I and Meneloath, Palace of Nations, Isle of Xule

Maximus sighed as he looked down at the war reports that had been given to him, the Auroran army was tearing through Ray-Das territory like a hot knife through whale fat but there were few clues about what really mattered, the fate of his abducted wife. With a reluctant feeling, he sent the order for the armies to continue their operations. Once that had been dealt with a courtier came forwards and notified him that the representative from Saranda had arrived.

"Court life must go on I suppose," he muttered to himself as the servant hurried away to welcome the Drider diplomat in. Despite current affairs, he was curious to find out about this new state to the south, perhaps another friend for Aurora if he played his cards right.

Meneloath walked in with his customary red and black sweater. He moved cautiously and eyed everyone around him. He had not been in an advanced society before. He was quite learned, thanks to the university, but it was in ruins and the current state of Ajivha was nothing like what Aurora had become. It was a marvel.

He had come with a few guards, as was customary and eyed the Driders from Naleene. Savage, was the best word to describe them. Built to kill, designed to kill, there was a bit of tragedy behind them. At least to Meneloath. He found Salo's Matrony much more acceptable. Even then, those fellows were so skittish it was impossible to hold a decent conversation. Truly, in his mind, Ellisandre's Matrony was the perfect one, the original one. He approached the Emperor slowly and said in his gravely voice.

"I, am Meneloath. Here to represent the fledgling state of Saranda as best I can. The one I have the pleasure of addressing is Emperor Maximus, yes?"

"Correct," Maximus replied solemnly, "Welcome to Aurora Meneloath, I hope our accomodation in the palace is to your liking? At-least we have a experience with your Drider brothers and sister in this nation,"

"Yes. Those ones are not of our Matrony however. You will find us much more civilized and accustomed to daily life. I have heard the incidents caused by Naleene's brood. Rest assured, I will ensure that any Driders in sweaters will not behave so barbarically." Meneloath looked around and continued. " You worship Lysei as we do, and Gangari as we do. You have been kind to our species, and that we can appreciate. An alliance seems inevitable, but do keep in mind. We of Saranda are independent, and will grow given time. As long as this is ensured, we may have a stable future."

"That's good to hear," the Emperor nodded, "your state will grow in time as has ours. There are many larger nations in this world however, not all of which are inclined to peace or free trade. To secure both our nation's futures, I propose a mutual defence pact in case of attack by another party."

"This deal...it sounds acceptable. Do feel free to send emissaries to Onchesmos. There is a place for them within our temple." Menloath looked out of the window and asked "Lysei sent his hand away from our lands to aid with your Queen's rescue. She is capable, but I would like if you would be cautious about having her participate in combat. Tales of her capabilities are impressive, but she is important to us."

"From what I've seen she's quite capable of handling herself," Maximus smiled in recollection, "I met her when I was a child, haven't seen her in many years though. Anyway, there's more. If we are to be allied, there is an unavoidable difference in size and power projection between our nations. I suggest to maximise our security an Auroran military base be placed in the north of Saranda, complete with a dragon landing strip. How does that sound?"

Meneloath shrugged. "I would need authorization from the military commander, or someone comparable to agree to something like that. We will definitely consider the proposition, however."

"Confirmation will be needed before the defence pact can be signed," Maximus nodded, "On agreement however, we would be able to provide a sum of seasonal aid as recompense that would greatly increase your annual budget, perhaps as much as double it," he raised an eyebrow, "There is no need to rush however, I wouldn't expect your people to help out in our existing troubles anyhow. Is there anything else you wish to propose?"

"I am here, mostly to aid you with Drider culture. Saranda is too small to be politically important, we are aware of this. If ever you have questions about how to handle Nalene and her Matrony, do come to me. I can however, mention that we do have possible trade items. Our silk is finer than anything made before, with your permission I would like for our nation to be able to sell our wares in your nation."

"Your help is appreciated," the Emperor replied not untruthfully, the Lord Deputy and some other Parliamentarians had been on him again the 'Drider problem' and some inside viewpoints would be very useful. "As you may be aware, Aurora stands with the principles of freer trade. We will have to finalise the details of the exchange later but yes, you have permission to sell your silks here,"

"That is good. I think this agreement can work for the time being." Meneloath nodded and turned away. "If you need me, well you provided my home so I would imagine I will be easy to find." He chuckled a bit and walked off with his guards.

"Be sure to attend the closing ceremony of the Xule Games," Maximus called as the spider vanished, he thought the preliminary discussion had gone well. Hopefully the Grat Shee would be similarly agreeable when they arrived he thought with a grimace as he recalled the stories he'd heard about them.

.

Emperor Maximus I and Shaman Kesar, Palace of Nations, Isle of Xule

It was only a few minutes after Meneloath left the chamber that Maximus was notified that the Grat Shee delegation had arrived in the palace. While the Emperor was tired, he didn't wish to be uncourteous to his guests and so ordered for them to be brought in at once, he quickly adjusted his red and gold robes and crown as he waited on his throne for them to enter.

Grat walk into the hall a few minutes later and they stop just inside the door for a few seconds before only one steps forward. Walking quickly forward holding a decorated staff shaman Kesar wore a leather bandilier, his claws clicking on the stone floor as he makes his way to just a few dozen feet away from Maximus. He looked around as he stopped and focused his slitted yellow eyes on Maximus before setting the bag with the Aurorian symbol on its face on the floor.

"Hello,"

"Greetings," the Emperor looked upon the creatures with a curious eye, even to someone used to being around sapient birds and giant spiders they were like nothing he'd ever seen before. He noted with interest the four-pointed star on the bag in front of him, the sign of the Father, "I am Maximus, Emperor of the Commonwealth of Aurora. What name do you go by?" he asked the one in front.

"Kesar, shaman Kesar. I am one of the leaders of our clan. I came to talk about the people you sent as well as because I was curious about those around us."

Kesar leans on his staff and listens to the squad behind him talking in subvocal about the armor and weapons of those standing around.

"There is a lot to tell about Aurora," Maximus shrugged modestly, "We are a nation of many different peoples and races, united under one banner from Nova Ajivha to Samosa. Most of us are human like me, although there are the odd halfling and drider too," he gestured to where Naleene stood besides him, "This city island Xule is the best place to learn about Aurora, here there are people from all over the Commonwealth," he looked down again at the leather bandolier on the floor, "Tell me, what is it you have brought in the bag?"

Looking down at the bag and shrugging slightly Kesar waves at it.
"It was the bag of the messenger who came into our forest. Those who don't know how to move are at risk and as he has shown, die easily."

Looking at the large spider next to Maximus and back at him his eyes slowly move from person to person in his eye range.

"We are not the one who killed him, but it was a close thing. It is only recently that we decided that others not us were more than walking food, which you can thank a spirit for."

"Very well," Maximus replied sternly, "Aurora appreciates the returning of it's diplomats fallen to the elements of nature, it was a long and untried journey. Now, there is something I must ask you about... off the record,"

After several minutes of earnest discussion, the two parties returned to lighter subjects.

"You may or may not be aware that Aurora is a trading nation. Do the Grat Shee have any wares they would like to trade here?" Maximus enquired.

Looking around Kesar takes in the different people standing around. Some soldiers while others nobles he looks back at Maximus and shrugs.

"I did not know that, but we have many things. Our forest is vast and dangerous, but there is many things in it of much use. Also the animals we have are different than those we have seen here. Only the strong survive there, so they are stronger than those found outside the forest."

Waving one of the squad members forward and taking the quiver from their back Kesar starts to walk forward towards Maximus.

"Not bad quality, though the metal could do with a bit of work," the Emperor raised his eyebrow as he studied the quiver, "Would you consider opening trade links with Aurora? This island is a free trade zone for any nations who respect the rule of law. Your delegation is welcome to stay here as long as they like too, this palace is host to diplomats from most of the other nations in the world and could be a convienent place to meet them,"

Reaching into the quiver and taking out a few slightly different arrows he shows them to Maximus, all wood.

"These are what we have been using for many many years, the metal ones are very new and we are still working on them. I was also trying to show you the quiver itself, made of leather and finly crafted also. It would benifit both of us indeed to have someone here to act as a diplomat, but i myself will be having to head back, our cheif is head strong and sometimes needs a restraining hand. But others will come to take my place."

"Of course," Maximus nodded, "Are you able to agree to my trade proposal on behalf of your people or will your chief need to be consulted first? I can work with either,"

"I can set up a trade agreement with you easily, infact i would have to be talked to about that if it was my cheif that had come to talk to you. So i would indeed like to make that happen, seeing as we seem to be.."

Kesar looks around slowly before looking back at Maximus.

"Quite a bit behind you in some things. Though i do not see any Grat ever wearing such loud and heavy things."

"Indeed," the Emperor laughed, "Come to the closing ceremony of the Xule Games tomorrow and you will be in for a surprise. As a gesture of goodwill, our University of Silverroot to the south of here is open to all nations and races, if this would help your development?"

"I will stay around to be here for that, and yes, it would help out a lot. I will look around when I go back and find those who wish to come and learn. Though it may be few."

"Good," the Emperor reached out to shake the Grat's hand, "I'll see you there,"

Looking down and reaching out like Maximus is Kesar slowly takes his hand and shakes it back. looking at Maximus in the eye as he does.

"I will make sure,"

Khyber and Aerith, Ray-Das lands

"Ready!" Two row of carbines shot up from behind a wooden wall as arrows drizzled all around them. Aerith could barely see past their meager defenses but she could hear the screaming of the Ray-Das warriors as they charged down the hill towards them. It was a desperate gambit and even from far away, she could feel their roars as some of them morphed into animals but even their morphing wouldn't change this outcome.

"Fire!" The roaring sound of the firearms nearly deafened Aerith as she watched the barrage bring down even the most mighty warriors. Their armor and talismans were rendered useless by a wall of metal bullets traveling at unrivaled speeds. But even the roaring firearms failed to stop some who continued to charge, drunk on courage and ferocity. Those ones were always the hardest to take down. One of them morphed into a bear and charged straight at their defenses, shrugging off rounds like they were merely bee stings. The bear closed in, barreling through their flimsy wall and into an officer wielding their newest pistol. He raised it and pointed it at the bear's head then fired. The bear flinched slightly before slumping to the ground, felled by a single bullet to the head. The officer couldn't believe his luck but his luck soon faded as a volley of accurate arrows rained down on them with the officer being one of the first casualties. Aerith took cover behind what remained of the wall but some of the soldiers weren't so lucky.

The archers outdistanced their firearms and the Ray-Das warriors knew that, keeping their distance but peppering them with arrows. They formed on their flanks, raining arrows from above. The soldiers tried to retaliate, firing off rounds in the direction of the archers but their carbines weren't enough to land a hit. Just as Aerith was contemplating flying for it, she saw the black cloud of death descend upon the archers.

Khyber and his men appeared out of the blue and landed on archers. His troops routed them with ruthless efficiency, cutting the archers down as if they were wheat. They dropped on the left flank, clearing the ranged threat in a matter of minutes while dragon riders rained down fire on her right. It was quick strafe but a deadly one as fire consumed the hills around them. Any warriors left were swiftly gunned down or put to the sword. Surrender was seldom seen in these warriors and it was easy to see why Khyber respected them so much so Aerith wasn't surprised when he saw him telling the troops to respect the dead combatants.

"No looting!" Khyber called out to the new soldiers. "If I catch anyone going through pockets then they will lose their wings. Officers, give me your reports."

Aerith proceeded up the hill, stepping over the bodies of the dead Ray-Das warriors. The ground beneath her feet was wet with blood and the recent rainfall that slowed their advance. The muddy roads were ill-prepared to carry their food wagons so progress had been slow but steady. She contemplated flying but she had seen Ray-Das sharpshooters take down Krakari who were foolish enough to fly often so she stuck to the ground. Even with their numerical and technological advances, an arrow to the wings could end it all and the Ray-Das were crafty along with accurate. When she arrived at the top of the hill, it was easy to see why they wanted to keep the area so much.

Aerith could see for leagues. She hadn't even noticed the steepness or the vastness of the hill until she climbed it. Their camp below seemed like a small village in comparison. On the opposite side of the hill was a Ray-Das village long-abandoned by its villagers but used as a camp by the warriors they dispatched earlier. Their eastward advance could be seen in the rising smoke columns in the distance and the distant rumble of marches with sound of skirmishes all around them. She could see the dragon riders as well, Aerith could make out streams of fire pouring from their mouths as they laid waste to another Ray-Das position to the north.

"Your swords are still clean..." Khyber said in a plain expression. He was clad in the black of his family colors with a bloodied sword hanging besides a pistol at his belt.

"Looks like your plan worked too well for me to get a kill." Aerith sheepishly admitted. She looked at her own swords before glancing back at the camp. "At least three dozen warriors today with twice the amount of archers all charging towards a supposed easy target. They are running out of swords but not arrows."

"Of course, the ones on the hill were mostly milita and hunters." Khyber said, motioning to the dead archers. "They all have their own weapons and arrows are easier to make than swords."

"And easier to make than these." Aerith pointed to the passing soldiers with carbines in their hands. "Yet, we're still out-ranged. The barrels aren't long enough for us to reach past 130 paces at the most. If you weren't here with dragons, we would have been filled with arrows right now."

"That might be true but the rest of army would have been here to back you up if you'd given the word." Khyber said with a silent look in his eyes. He had given her command of a few units but she still had yet to show any of the skill he had taught her. Aerith sensed that and looked away to the rolling landscape.

"I didn't want to interrupt your plan and it would have made it convincing if I didn't call for reinforcements down the road. A lone, isolated unit of soldiers is more enticing without the messengers flying back and forth." Aerith said, trying to impress the commander once more but it was hard to read Khyber's expressions.

"Fair point but you need to start leading if you want to replace me." Khyber said stoically. Shocked, Aerith turned to face Khyber.

"I'm not replacing you, even if the council told me to I couldn't." Aerith said pleadingly.

"But did they tell you?" Khyber asked, Aerith realized she had fallen into his trap just as the Ray-Das around them fell to theirs. Aerith remained silent as Khyber began to walk away.

"And don't worry about the carbines, you just gave me an idea to make them better."

Grat shea, IronTooth, Kesar

Kesar kneels down next to a sapling just planted in the forest a few hundred yards from the edge of the Irontooth village, cupping his hands around the sapling and blowing on it softly. Green mist drifts from between his fangs to wrap around the sapling and make it start growing quickly. Stepping back Kesar looks at the growing tree and smiles, jumping back onto a platform made of wood as the sapling taken from another stabbing tree starts to grow. Watching the tree grow he takes in the changes in the bark from the previous tree, the changes he has installed into it taking affect. Soon the tree is dozens of feet high with several hanging fruit already giving out scents that will draw in all who enjoy vegetables. Looking back and waving at a few Grat standing behind him to open the baskets they are holding.

Then nod and open up the baskets to let a dozen rabbits out to bound around and spread out before the wind catch's the scent of the sweetfruit and wafts it over them all. Kesar has to put his hand over his nose as the overpowering sweet smell hangs in the air heavily. Gagging and watching the rabbits one by one turn and start hopping and making their way towards the tree he smiles widely as one by one they are stabbed from below the earth and kill each of them before more roots slide out of the earth and wrap around the bodys, dragging them below the surface into the ground. Turning and slowly making his way back across the wood layed on the ground Kesar calls out to the Grat standing around.
"Make sure you spread it around to those in the village that stabtrees will be all around the village and they need to be careful to only take the tree roads."

Jumping off the wood and making his way back into the village and into a huge tree that had been partially hollowed out. Stepping inside and looking up at the group of Grat holding onto the ceiling as they use some captured axe's to chop out the edges of the hard wood. Watching them for a few minutes and leaving to go into the place where several grat are working metal and wood.

stepping up and watching as arrow makers try out different ways of shaping the arrows Kesar only watch's for a few minutes before leaving and climbing a large tree into a hide in the top where chief Sharo was waiting for him. Sharo looks up as Kesar climbs into the hide and drops onto the floor and sighs. Walking closer and dropping onto a pile of furs Kesar leans back and looks over at Sharo he smiles as he slowly scrapes a piece of wood into a new bow.

"I think i heard that you had a clutch of eggs about to be born, am i right?"

Sharo laughs and looks over as his claws slowly scrape away sliver after sliver of wood falls away from it.
"Yes i do, i do indeed. I'm making this in case any of them follow me into the hunters group."
Setting the half made bow aside and looking at Kesar relaxing on the pile of furs Sharo tosses a chunk of dried meat to him.
"so, you went to another peoples plae and came back after a while to tell us of the great lives they live."
Raising an eyebrow at Kesar and smiling slowly.

Kesar laughs and tears the meat into shreds with his claws.
"No, i came back to tell you that we entered into a trade agreement with those who live quite a ways to the east. Past the mountains."
Lifting some of the shredded meat and dropping it into his mouth he chews for a few seconds before looking at Sharo right in the eye.
"I'm not here to tell you how great they are, but i am going to warn that they are much farther ahead of us in weapons and people. I saw... Thousands and thousands and thousands of them, and i was told it was just one of their city's. I sent two shamans and a few squads back with a dozen different craftsmen to go to their school they have there."

Kesar shrugs and leans back.
"We are the people, but it will not be easy to become the only people. I have ordered several things looked into and a group of bow makers are gathering to talk about what can be done. But i think that we will need to start gathering others secrets to catch up."

Sharo nods slightly and looks over at a low table with a much expanded map that had just been finished a few days ago with the described land that those who had come back had described.
"Yes, i think we will. But later, right now we need to keep ourselves safe and our people good."

Drya - IronTooth 7/15 AP

Kesar was still looking at Sharo in the hide in the middle of Irontooth. he had just finished talking to him about the trade agreement as well as giving him a short play by play of what they would be doing soon in technoligy. Dipping his claws into a bowl of shredded meat and lifting it to his mouth to eat it as Sharo goes back to shaping the bow he had set aside.

In a nearby tree there was a flash of green and white and Drya appeared, crouching on one of the thick branches. The wanderlust had come upon her again so she'd left the grove under Nero's protection, instructing him to scare off all intruders unless they were accompanied by Princess Hild. She'd been quite pleased with the conversation she'd shared with the princess, she had appeared surprisingly competent for such a young woman.

'If only the same could be said for her travelling companions,' the goddess thought, grinning internally as she remembered how one of the oafs had tripped flat on his face thanks to the vine she'd twisted around his foot. Leaping from the tree onto the treetop walkway, Drya quickly ducked into the hide where she could sense Kesar, finding him eating with one of his kin.

"Greeting my favourite little man! It's been too long since we spoke," she said with a slight bow of her head before turning to the second grat. "I don't believe we've been introduced, my name is Drya. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance."

Sharo starts to jump up and reach for his spear just a few feet away when Kesar grabs Sharo's arm and puts him back in his chair.
"Hello Drya, it has been a while. How are you? This is cheif Sharo, my opposite in the clan. He takes care of the warriors and hunters while i care for the craftsmen and creators."

Sharo slowly lowers his arm from reaching towards the spear and nods at Drya, tearing a peice of the meat next to him and tossing a large chunk at Drya.

"Hello. Kesar told me about his meeting with you before."

Catching the strip of meat deftly with one hand, Drya eyed it briefly before looking back to the two grat.

"Why does everyone always greet me with weapons drawn? I'm not that scary am I?" Drya asked, slightly exasperated. She didn't need to eat any more strictly speaking but she took a small bite of the food anyway, so as not to appear rude.

"I've been good Kesar, very good in fact. How are things with the Grat Shee? I hope the gift I bestowed upon you has proven useful."

Kesar waved at Sharo

"He was just surprised and doesn't know you so he did what comes natural to him. Don't worry, next time it will not happen. The gift you gave me has been very useful, in many ways. I have been setting up defences and changing some of the plants and animals around here in a few ways. Thank you very much.

Sharo shakes Kesar's hand off his arm and chews on the meat he had pealed off the meat.

"The Grat are doing good, expanding and learning well."

"I'm glad to hear that," Drya replied with a smile. "I feel that some of the other nations could learn a thing or two from your people."

Twisting the wooden floor of the hide upwards, Drya took a seat and took another bite of meat.

"While I'm here, is there anything that I could assist you with? Your way of life continues to please me and I would like to show my appreciation however I can."

Kesar looks at Sharo and waves him forward, stepping back to sit back and chew on the meat he had close by letting Sharo take the lead. Sharo in turn looks at Drya as she sits down and sets the bow he had started on again aside to focus fully on her.

"Well, im glad how we live pleases you. We have been living similar to this for a very long time but only in the last few dozen years have we stopped and started making new and perminate places for ourselves. There may be many things that a spirit like yourself can do for us."

"Well by all means, tell me of these things. If I find them agreeable I would be happy to help." Drya replied, focusing on Sharo.

Sharo scratchs his neck softly with his claws as he thinks. After a few seconds of silence he looks at Drya in her eyes with hsi slitted yellow ones.

"Well, there are a few thigns that come to mind. One of them is granting some of out hunters with greater skill in movement, tracking and even hunting and strength. There are some reports from our border and it worries me a little, but a group of hunters with powers blessed by a spirit would make many things much easier. Plus we are both hunters you and me, so you understand how no matter how great we are there is always another level of power and skill. Look at yourself, no Grat can compete with you in skill or power but we all aspire to it in our hearts."

Drya pondered the proposal for a short time. She could understand their logic, but she was hesitant to bestow a gift that could be so easily abused for personal gain and violence.

"Hmm... very well. I will hold you two accountable if your hunters abuse this power however, I will not be pleased if they use it for selfish reasons. Assemble your chosen few, I will await them on the ground below."

Rising from her seat and restoring the floor to its original state, Drya left the enclosure and descended to the forest floor below.

Looking at Kesar and raising the scales above one of his eyes Sharo turns to him and sets his hands on his knees.
"Well, i admit that the posoibility that one would use the powers for their own ends is something that could happen but do you know of any Grat who would let their own wants come before the desire of the clan?"

Kesar shrugs and stays where he is.
"There is all kinds. But you should think of who you want to go down and meet with Drya. After all, she is waiting for you."

Sharo nods and turns to a cut out section of the hide and runs along the woven bridge to another building a bit aways much larger made using the trunks of 5 trees as support.

Stepping inside and looking around Sharo mentaly goes over each squad leader and those in said squad before grabbing 10 leaders and telling them to grab their squads and to meet on the forest floor. After much grumbling about some excersize they have to do eventually they all get down there and many stare at Drya as they wait. Getting to the forest floor and standing between Drya and the Grat squads he speaks to them.
"This is Drya, a spirit of the forest. She will be blessing you with the greater skills in hunting and skills of the forest."

Turning to Dray Sharo nods and waves at the group of 50 behind him.
"These are my chosen few."

Surveying the hunters, Drya gave a slight bow and addressed them in a commanding tone.

"Noble warriors of the Grat Shee. This gift I shall bestow upon you is a blessing, but it comes with a responsibility. Use it selfishly or in a way that displeases me, and I will show you no mercy. Now, remain still for a moment."

Closing her eyes, Drya spread her arms and a green glow rose from the ground, surrounding the small gathering. Gusts of wind whipped through the trees as Drya focused her energies and attempted to bestow her gift upon the hunters.

Lysei, Aurora

After the meetings with Meneloath and Kesar, Maximus returned to his leisure room, he was sure there was work piling up on his desk but right now he didn't have the energy to bother. He lay back on a cushioned chair, staring up at the ceiling whilst he idly plucked grapes from a bowl besides him.

For the first time in at least a year, Lysei appeared next to Maximus. He was distinctly less human looking than Maximus remembered, much more shadowy in his appearance. "Isn't it interesting? How just after they become relevant again, the Ray Das continue to foolishly attack other nations? I must admit I never understood them."

"Oh, it's you," Maximus said with a glance, he hadn't seen Lysei for a while but the deity always turned up in this manner, "It's in their blood, the first Aurorans after-all escaped from the clutches of a halfing warlord. Somewhat ironic that now Aurora will put an end to their raiding and aimless warfare forever more,"

He looked up. "Speaking of halflings, I could have done with some help when one of those little bastards tried to cut me up a few months ago," he added with a chuckle.

"You seem to be in one piece." Lysei said with a slight chuckle as well. "This is your first real war, after all the only other one you participated in was run by your uncle. Are you prepared?"

"Three fifths of their territory has already fallen," the Emperor replied matter-of-factly, "With the support of the Krakari, your Weaver and our own loyal elite units, the war could be over within a month if all goes to plan. Though, Amatia.. that is another question,"

Yes it is." Lysei sighed. "I don't know where she is, frankly Katalia can handle this better than I can. All these years of peace, I wonder if she expected to ever draw blood for me again. I was hesitant to even ask her to go, after what happened last time."

"Our population will almost double you know," Maximus raised an eyebrow, "the Ray-Das have many people squashed onto a small parcel of land. Those hands are needed of course to help work our newer territories but it does concern me for the future that the halflings will be Aurora's most numerous single ethnic group, more than even us Novarens,"

"Subjugation is a tricky thing." Lysei began, "These people will think of you a monster, but you must not think the same of them. If you do, you become a tyrant. Are you prepared to be hated, Maximus?"

"If it is for the good of Aurora, then I must be," the Emperor replied defiantly, "I am not a naïve child any longer, I know I will never be loved by everyone. I believe in time though the Ray-Das will largely accept the new order they have been given, as have the natives of the Archipelago, the Ajivhans and of course the halflings of Oileán Uisce. People desire stability above all else and in time they will barely remember anything different,"

"I am going to Mereton." Lysei stated bluntly. "They are going through troubled times, and I can not stand back and do nothing." Lysei began to disappear as he ran a few more whispers through Maximus' head. "There are two new gods, one named Drya, she is good but easily hurt. The other is destruction incarnate, I have felt him, but not met him yet. Be wary around him." With that, Lysei was gone, and Maximus found himself alone once again.

Saranda

Elections had been decided, though not elections in the way many were familiar with. The Driders had elected a large series of tests in order to decide who would lead what and where. The role of military commander had been stripped from the hand of Lysei, largely due to her inability to remain in one place for long periods of time, and instead had been given to a Drider by the name of Phastus.

In his youth, Phastus had often been accused of crimes that ranged from the petty, such as stealing, to homicide on massive levels. It was rumored and claimed that he would hunt the Ajivhans day and night, luring those he could in order to murder and eat anyone who fell for his callings. Nobody was able to prove that he had done these things, and he managed to get off without much hassle. Ever since he exited his youth, Phastus has instead been known for his brutal dedication to the Drider race. Saranda to him, is something worth fighting for, and he will rip anyone who would hurt it to shreds, whether they be Middling, which had become the ubiquitous term for non-Drider races, or Drider themselves.

How exactly Phastus was put in, was both the flaw and the power of the Drider?s meritocracy. When the Driders set a test, anyone who was fit to compete did, and Phastus knew military strategy better than any other Drider out there. Nobody would have voted to have him represent them in any way shape or form, but it was clear that he was the man for the job. Whether the crimes he was accused of actually happened or not, the Driders have put him in a position to do whatever is necessary.

The other news that had broken forth, was the election of a Baselius, or decided ruler of the state. The Baselius test was rigorous, and thousands of Driders competed to become the one king of the state, from the genius to the brutal. The competitions included swordplay, hunting, military strategy, espionage, rhetoric, each ended with more Driders removed from the pool. Of all those who competed, few expected Agenon, or Shifter as some had nicknamed him, to rise above. Agenon was not brave or strong, but he was swift and avoided fights. He was not intelligent, but he was cunning and quick on his feet. Agenon was great at having others do what he needed to do. He would win sympathy with the other Driders and through a mixture of luck and cunning, soon found himself the Baselius of all Driders.

None could contest his rule, for he had passed the tests laid out by the people. Many complained that a coward and a simpleton could never make a good Baselius, and that the tests had to be flawed, but they had been rigorously processed. After a month of deliberation, it was decided that Agenon was truly the best fit for Baselius, and he would soon be known through the world. He quickly appointed advisors to each subject he didn?t know much about, which ended up being every subject. His advisors were tested to be fiercely loyal to Saranda and him, and he found great success in organizing people. He himself had no ideas, but he had an eye for talent that no other could compete with. Soon, Agenon the Baselius was celebrated through all of Saranda.

Agenon?s second decree, was that Saranda would overcome the Middlings and become the one true empire. He announced Meneloath?s treaty with Aurora and it soon was passed, but Agenon was not satisfied with being in Aurora?s shadow. He made preparations for expansion. Saranda had been purposefully isolated from the other nations geographically. The goal was to build an unstoppable nation from the confines of the south, and would begin by raising the population.

Keplar worked to send out the plans of the new pits, still somewhat curious as to why his group's efforts were spent on such a trivial task, but before he could send out a message asking Budraal for instruction, another order came in, again from the Supreme.

Jugaan, meanwhile worked to complete her own plans, working on training some of the stunted Luug Wos found into something close to spies.

1. Implement Common Pits
2. Implement Tribeless Agents.

Cyth'raul, Northen Grasslands - 0/10 AP

Satisfied with the obelisk, Cyth'raul decided to produce another. One had to keep practice up, after all. This time, the Pactforger chose a spot between the Raptor States and Aurora (they had a lot of territory, didn't they?). Well, lucky them, having two obelisks nearby, if the action was successful.

Aetherial Collective

The Collective implemented Sphere Cults and Scientific Methodology, both of which they hoped would improved their research capacities. Meanwhile, this time their Inquisition came together without a hitch and were given Krakari carbines to carry out their activities.

Aurora

While resistance remained strong, the Ray-Das were unable to stop the westward push of the Auroran armies and their Krakari allies and after a month of heavy fighting, the flag of surrender was raised. The territory had fallen to the Aurorans and it would be up to them to determine it's governance. For now however, they were focused on another goal as they closed in on the location of the captured Queen, a high-standing fortress in the West. Meanwhile back in the mainland, trade links were opened with the Grat Shee, to the benefit of both country's economies.

Deep Tribes

The Luug implemented Common Pits and Tribeless Agents research, as well as continuing their epionage work with Shadow Methodology.

Grat Shee

As well as successful research into improved bows and barbed hunting arrows, the Grat Shee also managed to carry out an act that no other nation was aware of, though it was a close call at times.

Raptor States

While their minds were focused by what came to be known as the Second Ray-Das War, the Raptor States implemented gunpowder and rifled barrels into muskets. Research into explosives were successful too.

Saranda

Saranda's research to produce additional Matrons, further genetic control over plants and means of guerrilla warfare were all successes by most measures, though they would have to be implemented to have any effect.

Gods

Cyth'raul

A second obelisk, this time in the north between the Raptor States and Aurora, was constructed more quickly this time. Perhaps Cyth'raul was getting better with practice.

Drya

Drya blessed a small group of Grat Shee hunters with enhanced strength, speed and sureness of foot. In addtion, their hides would change colour to better blend in with the forest around them.

Lysei

With Maximus' concerns about their new halfling minority in mind, Lysei left the Emperor an orb that would increase the fecundity of the human population in Aurora every Springtime.

Gangari

In his second attempt, Gangari created the Silver Resonators of Growth and distributed them as he saw fit to the Raptor States and Collective.

Emperor Maximus I, Xule Games, Isle of Xule

Maximus stood to attention as victorious athletes lined up before him, every one bearing a gold medal smelted from the mines under Maia. The closing ceremony of the Xule Games had been designed personally by himself, so he hoped it would go down well. Crowns of olive leaves were passed out to each of the victors and then Maximus waved his hands. As he did so, lines of Auroran guardsmen shot their firearms into the air and dragons swooped over majestically, smoke trailing behind them as they did so.

He thought back to yesterday evening when he'd found the orb Lysei had placed in a wardrobe, something to bolster the human population in Aurora according to the note left with it. He had prayed a quick thanks to the fire god before locking the object in a wooden chest and having a manservant take it down to the Imperial Vault, where hundreds of other artefacts dating back to before the founding of Aurora were kept. Once he'd burned the note, the orb was safe and secure and no other mortal even knew of it's existence.

Back in the present, Meneloath and the delegation of Grat Shee were watching the ceremony from a private stand. He hoped they and the other diplomats were enjoying the show. There wouldn't be time to talk to them again for a while, as he would be taking a dragon to the Ray-Das lands the next day to finalise a peace treaty and oversee the return of his wife. News of the conquest had already filtered out into Xule and the crowd were ecstatic, shouting war cries and victory slogans. Maximus waved happily to them and they cheered back louder, filling the stadium with joy. Maximus smiled, he could always rely on his people to cheer him up.

.

General Fallan, South-West Ray-Das

"Watch the rear!" the General shouted as the halflings seemingly materialised from nowhere behind the advancing Auroran-Krakari forces, a barrage of arrows flying like needles of death towards them. The Aurorans covered their flank with their shields whilst the Krakari returned fire with their own weapons, quickly dispatching their enemies.

"Those guns are incredible," Fallan told one of the birds with admiration, "When I next see the Minister of Defence I'll strongly encourage him to invest in some,"

Technically, the war was over, a few days ago Wolf-Keal had surrendered and then promptly jumped over the edge of Bar-Shk's walls. The nobles of the Ray-Das were in shock but largely pacified and awaiting a visit from the Emperor to settle how their country would be run from now on. A pocket of resistance had remained in the far west however and it was with little surprise that the same location was where all the signs of the Queen lead to. The General looked up at the lonely fortress sitting on a hill high above them.

"I hope you're up there your Majesty," Fallan muttered, "Or only the Father knows where you are,"

"Sir!" one of his officers walked up to him briskly, "Good news, the Weaver has finally arrived!"

.

Queen Amatia, ???, Ray-Das

Amatia tested the bars in front of her for about the thousandth time but as with every time before, they held firm. She didn't know exactly how she'd been held in this cell, it felt like months but she'd lost count of the days a long time ago. Her captors seemed to avoid her whenever possible, they certainly seemed to be hiding something, but inevitably someone had to check on her and bring along her meals. She drew back as the patter of small feet came along the paving stones.

"How was your day?" Amatia asked as the boy drew up to the bars. He was human, maybe ten or eleven years old, short and deathly pale. He seemed to stare through her, she privately wondered if he was some sort of captive of the Ray-Das too. She always tried to fish for information but her captors had chosen wisely, whenever the child did respond it was in monosyllabic grunts. She didn't even know his name. Today he just shrugged his shoulders and passed her bowl of gruel through the bars, before scampering off into the darkness.

"Thank you," she called after him as she began to dig into her meal, not aware of the commotion on the plains far below the fortress.

The military actions of the Aurorans and their allies the Raptor states in the lands bordering Mereton?s northern lands caused a certain amount of controversy among the social elite. The speed at which the military operations were carried out against the Ray-Das surprised many within military circles and calls for some sort of action were soon petitioned to the king. The absorption of the former territory of Ray-Das resulted in the increase of the border with Aurora and many Generals felt uneasy with having such a large border with what they perceived to be a nation dominated by expansion.

The King however was in no mood to threating growing relationships with the Aurorans without a good reason, especially since his son was still a guest in one of their great cities, a fact that Edgar was forced to remind several of his generals. However, Edgar did recognise that the Auroran expansion was an issue that needed to be watched in the coming future.

Cyth'raul, Southern Obelisk of Accords - 5/15 AP

While the forces of General Fallan closed in on the kidnappers of Queen Amatia, another smaller force was exploring the interior of the southern continent. There were wide-stretching grasslands between the Ray-Das and Ajivha, perhaps suitable for settlement by the Aurorans some time in the future. The area seemed to be uninhabited and devoid of any sign of civilisation, until they found the obelisk that is.

Captain Viad let out a whistle of disbelief as his unit approached the towering monolith. It was higher than any structure they'd ever seen in Aurora, perhaps higher than any others in the world. He stepped up close to the ebony surface and stared at the writing engraved in it.

"What is it?" a sergeant asked.

"Among other languages, there's something written in Auroran here," the Captain said slowly, "Call freely upon the power of Cyth'raul, who shall grant favours in exchange for veneration. Who is that, some sort of deity?"

"I've heard of him... or her, can't remember which," one of the soldiers admitted, "My priest back home said Cyth'raul is a trickster, many years ago they made an island which was sworn for all the races to share, only to then break their pact and give it to the rock men alone. I would not trust that god, not when we have our Father to protect us,"

"Another one eh?" Viad replied, "I wouldn't believe that there's any others than our own Lysei and Gangari, scions of the Father, but I can't think how any mortal hand could create a monument like this." He got down on his knees and bowed his head.

"What are you doing now?" the sergeant asked sceptically.

"Praying," the Captain said simply, "Perhaps Cyth'raul is listening today,"

The prayer was music to the Pactforger's ears. Perhaps those obelisks were a good idea after all, as it was not a Luug or a Krakari or one of the Grat or even one of the lost Yish'Tai, it was an Auroran. How interesting.

It was not at all common for them to turn to a god outside their pantheon. The event presented an interesting opportunity to say the least. A breath of fresh was something a bored immortal needed, after all. Even with the new nations and deities springing up.

"I am always listening." A deep yet gentle - all too gentle - voice replied, seemingly from the obelisk itself as the words engraved in the structure glowed in time with the sound, "What is it you desire, Auroran? Name your terms, forge a Pact... That is the purpose behind your prayer, yes?"

The men gasped and stepped back as the voice emanated from the obelisk, they were used to spirituality and worship being a distant affair to a faraway Emperor or an unheard god. An actual reply was... unexpected.

"We are men of arms," Viad said slowly, "We have watched the firesticks of our Krakari allies with envy, having no idea how to make one ourselves." He looked to his comrades, who nodded in support, "Gift to us a weapon of similar power and we shall spread your name as the patron of our army,"

Firesticks? Cyth'raul quickly figured out what the mortals meant by that strange term and set work. The Pact was a refreshingly simple one and written up in the Pactforger's tome immediately.

The letters engraved on the obelisk began to coil 'round and 'round again as the voice boomed from the cold black stone, "As you desire."

A beam of light shone out from the glowing letters and into the Aurorans' minds. Whispers invaded their minds, their caustic trail leaving blueprints in the minds of the soldiers for a weapon which would more than match that of the 'firesticks'.

Large, with ammo to match and the potential to kill its user if used improperly. It also had one hell of a kick.

Its name? The cannon.

"Thank you," the Captain breathed as he saw he beautiful designs in his head, a giant firestick that would surely not only tear through flesh but also walls. He was already thinking of a blacksmith he knew back on the peninsula of Ithene who could make a prototype for him. Then, a present to the General... he would be set for life. "We will honour your name forever, Cyth'raul," he bowed humbly.

Drya - Mereton 5/15 AP

After returning from the land of the Grat Shee Drya wandered the nation of Mereton, visiting the various villages and towns. She was discreet, but did not completely conceal herself from the mortals as she had before. Patrolling guardsmen and late night wanderers frequently reported glimpses of a beautiful woman on the outskirts of their settlements, carrying a longbow with flowers and animals following her footsteps. During the darkest of hours she would visit the homes of young men and women, bestowing upon them a fraction of her power as they slept. Soon there would be around fifty individuals blessed with abilities similar to that of Princess Hild, although not quite as potent. At first these gifts would manifest spontaneously and unexpectedly, but they are easy to learn and control after some practice. The eyes of those blessed will also slowly change to a brilliant green hue.

Aerith and Khyber, Ray-Das lands

"Watch the rear!"

Arrows shot past Aerith's head and hit the men around here as Ray-Das forces attacked the force from the rear. Their march to the mountain fortress that the Auroran Queen was being kept in was interrupted by this ambush. From the bushes and trees they came, transforming into their morphs while some rained down arrows on the mix of Raptor and Auroran forces. The Aurorans were quick in raising their shields to protect her men as she ordered the lines to form behind the shield wall.

"Fire at will!" Aerith shouted out to her forces and like a cascading thunderstorm, the guns fired into the mass of Ray-Das forces. Their new muskets proved effective in all regards as they were much longer than their carbine counterparts which gave them much more range which surprised more than a few Ray-Das archers. The unstoppable power of their firearms ended the sudden offensive as quickly as it appeared. The few warriors that made it past the barrages were mopped up by the Auroran soldiers except for one.

These were warriors were tenacious, all ready to die for their cause with this one especially eager. Cleverly, he hid behind the bigger warriors as they absorbed the bullets and blows. Once they were through, he transformed into a hawk to get above his opponents before turning back into his halfling form. With two short swords, he dived into their formation in a craze. He landed a few paces away from Aerith, cutting his way to her it seemed seeing as how she still wore her white armor. Her bodyguards were cut down by this warrior seeming as they were only armed with muskets by the time he had got to them. Seeing Aerith, the warrior leaped at her with swords raised. With what little time she had, Aerith drew her sword and blocked the incoming blows.

She blocked one sword and halfway parried the other one but it cut her arm that wielded her pistol. Aerith dropped her firearm yet she still pressed on the attack like she had dozens of times against her trainer. Aerith's height helped her as she swung her sword from a longer distance than this warrior but this was one was experienced in that. He whirled around to Aerith's side, dodging the blows easily. He lunged forward with his two swords but Aerith was quick to react. She brought her sword back, swiping away the swords with her own before stepping in and stabbing the halfling in the gut.

The halfling dropped his swords and latched to Aerith's arm. He pulled her closer to him, drawing his body closer to the hilt of the sword. Aerith couldn't help but watch as the warrior further impaled himself on her sword until he was close to her.

"A warrior's death... a true death..." The warrior said before he slumped down onto his knees and dying.

"A true death for a true warrior." Khyber said from behind her. She backed away from the dead body but Khyber stepped forward and gently drew the sword from the warrior's body. He then collected the two short swords the halfling used. They were expertly made with steel that was unmatched. "Keep these swords, you've earned it."

Khyber gave Aerith the swords before going through the different sections and getting their after-action reports. Casualties were low and most importantly, casualties caused by arrows had also fallen thanks to their muskets. Just as he was checking on his units, General Fallan of the Aurora forces strode with his entourage.

"Those guns are incredible," The General said. "When I next see the Minister of Defence I'll strongly encourage him to invest in some."

After that one of his officer came to him and he glanced to the mountain fortress which they were heading for. The Aurorans talked fervently of the fate that had befallen their Queen and rumor has it that she was being held there. Khyber could see why just by glancing at the field of dead Ray-Das soldiers. Quickly, he fetched a handful of his trusted scouts and told them to scout the fortress for a way in or to see if the Queen was truly there.

Grat shee, Squad leader Corde, Aurora

Squad leader Corde was the leader of the security of the squads for the ambassador in Aurora, the one had taken over after Kesar had left. He had come over after the initial group had been placed because he was one of the blessed of Drya, him and his squad were all stronger faster and more stealthy than the majority of Grat. Every night he had left the quarters given to them and snuck across the streets and roofs watching those who made their ways along the streets at night and keeping an eye on the workings of the city, coming back in the morning and reporting to the shaman what he had seen and thought.

All the gray went out to the edges of the city and into the ocean to fish and hunt. Making more of a sport of it than actual need because of the meals that were being given to them by the Aurorans. They would take turns seeing who could catch the most fish, dive the deeper, best shot and others. Sometimes kids from the city would follow to watch and the Grat would for the most part ignore them, though being careful to keep them safe if they ran into where they were shooting or wrestling.

Grat territory, plains.

The shaman of the only clan to live on the plains was looking over the small knife he had found in the grass where some old burnt wood was. it in and of itself was not curious, what was was the fact that its edge never seemed to go away. he had cut wood and leather and meat with it and it was still as sharp now as it had been. He started trying to replicate the symbols on the knife to se if others would also do the same thing.

Gangari, 12/15 AP

The Farmers of the Raptor states (among other places) were beginning to become used to the sight of Gangari. He seemed to be appearing on a weekly basis to them now, watching them and helping them with their work. Some times he brought gifts. Small objects, better and stronger tools, bags of seed. Though recently he brought something new, small green crystalline spheres.

Though at first the farmers thought it odd that he wanted them to bury them in their fields in places that they were to determine using metal rods, ropes, and numbers they quickly remembered he was a god and this was a gift much like the red seeds that he had sent to them.

~~~
Months later he decided that he would visit the Grat again, though most were still climbing their trees and tearing animals down some were taking a different path. Grazing animals in pens and Grat with bags of harvested feed.
It gave him an idea.
Though those he spoke to had believed him that other animals- other peoples could be of use, the comparison of man and animal was something hard to break. He didn't intend to break it fully, but if he could convince them that nations could be of use to them then perhaps he could reinforce that on a national scale by helping show that animals themselves and therefore other people could be of use as something other than mere prey.
He needed to make sure it formed properly before he gave it to them, he didn't want another failure tainting the world.
Rederick's Rest.
With the latest gift from their god fields were being cleared and his obelisks were being planted with the collective's crops. After the metal was stripped from the crystal form they found that they could trick the metals into continuing to grow. Shards of the metal were buried in dead fields and with some slight coercion through magic over time grew and fused with eachother, after a few weeks metal strips would begin to sprout from the ground and begin to grow like wheat.
It was found that the living metal was changed through the magics used to process it. The metal was found to become a bronze colour when harvested and require magical coercion to grow or mend. The first uses determined were simple replacements of current materials but other applications were being imagined on a daily basis by the cults now spreading through their culture.
In other parts of the collective expeditions were being organized. After realizing that even with the constant gifts from their god their plans were nearly impossible as their ability to produce stood in the marsh. Documents were written up, citizens were recruited, and messengers were sent. Until they had the resources to improve their capabilites it was decided that trade relations were to be developed amongst the lands. Messengers were sent with fresh orders and knowledge to the diplomats in the Raptor States where talks could hopefully be opened soon after their arrival, Diplomatic parties were sent to their neighbours in Saranda where it was hoped that the fine spiderfolk could be made their friends, and a hesitant group was sent to the lands of the Grat where their god said they were now safe.
Gangari said the Grat were still animals learning to be Men and that they had the potential to be great, not a single person who heard him say it understood what he meant but he was their god and they took it to mean that he though that if the Tanha were to forgive them then perhaps they could be friends. They could be forgiven for what Rederick called a crime of ignorance, but the belief that they were demons was still strong. Amongst the group that was sent to them was a Justiciar, ten Corvan Yish-Tai hunters, and five scholars (or more appropriately termed: missionaries).
- Create a non-sentient species smaller than an elephant
From the distance it would appear to be a large metal tree with black leaves but upon closer inspection it would be noticed that it was more like a rune-covered obelisk with tree-like branches sticking out of the top.
The outside of the resonator is a shell of silvery living metal with a shape similar to an obelisk, but becoming like a tree by having a branch structure covered in large black leaves and a root structure under it. The inside is a dark red crystalline structure constantly absorbing, storing, and channeling aetherial energies into and through itself and then into the environment around it.
It uses resonance frequencies and aetherial connections to channel energy into and manipulate the Spore of Andha and the organisms it has integrated with. The purpose of this specific type of Resonator is to cause non-sentient organisms which consume the spore infested organisms in which it influences to slowly grow until they reach a point in which it is twice it's natural possible size. Non-sentient organisms which consume the organisms under the spore's influence which are not done maturing will continue to mature at their natural rate, upon reaching maturity they will began to be affected as other non-sentients are.
[Basically animals which are non-sentient will slowly and safely double in size (Aka become twice as large/tall/big or all of the above or whatever) if they are consuming effected plants. Their skeletons and organs will adapt. Their bodies will function as intended but they are larger. No damage to their systems occur as every part of them is adapted to function at their larger size. MAGIC! I'm too exhausted lately to explain the mechanisms of the action fully. Non-sentients become big! MAGIC!]
Once a year in the summer months resonators produce a crystalline sphere which acts as a Resonator seed if buried. Over the course of a month after it is bured it will develop a root system and after the first month it will begin developing in full above ground.
Each resonator holds a sphere of influence amounting to a 1 kilometer radius.
If a Resonator exists within a "hexagon" in which silver-root has a node, Ashlif will be able to interface with it and take control of it to influence and modify it and therefore the organisms it influences.
- Action is difficulty 9, with a cost of 3 AP. Total domain bonus applied to the roll is +4.
- Should have 9/15 AP at end of turn.
First Major - Send Diplomats to Saranda
Second Major - Send Diplomats to The Grat Shee
Third Major - Implement Living Metal Growing/Harvesting (Wealth Tech)
Emperor Maximus I, Bar-Shk, Kingdom of Ray-Das
The nobles of the Ray-Das bowed one by one as the Emperor entered the room. Most avoided eye contact, though he caught a couple glaring at him angrily. Understandable, given the circumstances.
"Your Imperial Majesty," one growled, "I am Bear-Keal, brother of the late Wolf-Keal. I offer you the crown of our kings in recognition of your overlordship of our realm,"
"Thank you, Bear-Keal," Maximus replied simply, taking the crown and placing it on his head. He sat down on a specially brought in throne, their native one was far too smaller for a full grown human, and the discussion began.
For the next few hours, various topics ranging from currency to titles to borders were debated and examined. Maximus tried hard to accommodate the halfling's requests and was careful to offer them some monetary rewards in exchange for agreement. The consensus came together to reconstitute their lands as the Kingdom of Ray-Das, equal in status to the Kingdom of Ajivha with broadly similar autonomy within the Commonwealth of Aurora. Borders would be identical to their historic ones, minus the island of Lot-Vos, which the Emperor promised to ask the Krakari at a later day if they would be willing to sell back to the Kingdom. Finally the topic of the new monarch was broached upon.
"We must have a leader of our own race, my lord," one said nervously, "The people will accept nothing less,"
"I understand that," Maximus replied, "I have brought with me a halfling from our own island of Oilean Uisce, one who has studied and worked for years under the venerable Lord High Councillor Ker-Hai and by all accounts is very well considered as an administrator. Have him brought in," the last remark was aimed at a courtier, who hurried away and returned with an self-assured looking halfing in his mid-thirties. "His name is Ver-Jie and he shall be your new King,"
