Eryn stood up, dusting off the back of her pants. She avoided Anthony's statement altogether and walked passed him. "Let's get going. I'm hungry, tired, and I'm sure that the others will be wondering where we've been."

She arrived at the base a couple minutes after Wes and Burst and immediately went into the room they had prepared for her. It was a small room, consisting of only a bed and a dresser that was pushed up against the wall. She collapsed onto the bed, figuring that she could eat later on, and quickly fell asleep.

After hearing some of the others enter the hideout and walk to their rooms, Justin grabbed the pistol and tucked it into the back of his pants. Replacing his jacket, he walked out into the common area and found the General.

"I'm assuming we're not having an evening meal together?" he asked, hoping for the General to answer but not directing the question to anyone in particular.

"I think tonight is a night for everyone to fend for themselves." Anthony said.

"There is food prepared." Luka piped in, gesturing towards a short hallway at the end of the room, presumably leading to a dining area. "You're all welcome to it."

"Many of us will want privacy tonight," the angel finished. "Especially after such a long trip."

Wes was standing on the outside of the discussion, but he was still listening since it seemed to apply to him. He followed Luka's gesture and found himself in a small-ish room with a pair of tables lined with folding chairs. On the far end was a small open kitchen, with a couple of courses set out on the counter. He grabbed a plate and filled up, noticing that he hadn't been the first to dish a plate, and sat down at the end of one of the tables. Glancing up at the door once, he hoped for someone to join him. Someone he had heard howling from half-way across the city.

Rolf sat in the room he had been given, preferring the floor over the bed, he sat in deep thought. He thought about how this would end for them all, when more of them would go the way of Michael, who would fall first. He also thought about the how the group was holding up, Eryn's howl stirring deep inside him, he had wanted to go and talk to her, but he would leave that for those who could actually fully relate to her, and not just place familiar feelings into predefined boundaries from a millennium ago.

He sat unmoving, with his back against the wall, like the corpse he was, as his thoughts continued roaming. Battles, both old and new, replaying themselves in his head, and people, from the past and the present, entering and exiting his mind, sometimes blurring, like they were not separate entities. Eventually a question settled in his mind, one that came with age, and unlife, which no one had been able to answer this far, not even the other undead he had met. 'Was he just a shadow? In soul as well as body?'.

As time passed, he found that he had gotten a pocket watch from his pocket, how it had gotten there he did not know, maybe it had been there all along, since the base in Alaska. Or maybe he had unconsciously picked it up at the riot, like a raider looting his foes. Or maybe it was there for some other reason altogether. He pressed the button on top of it, making it spring open, revealing the watch itself, ticking away, its arms moving ever forward...

"Yeah, I can understand that," Justin commented, heading over to the food. He filled his plate with what he knew or thought he would like, then placed it at a spot where he had his back to a wall and could see the entryway well. He took his jacket off and put it on the back of his chair. As he sat down he could feel the handgun digging into his back, so he took it out and placed it on the table, careful not to point it at Wes, and began eating.

"Hey, Wes," he began, "what did you do before all this happened? Like, what was your normal life?"

Wes looked up at Justin as he sat down, a bit disappointed but not unwelcoming of the company. He still wasn't quite sure what to think of this human, even after their mission together. I was human once... wasn't I?

"I was really young when 'this' all happened. I didn't actually find out I was mythos until I was almost an adult." He looked away as he thought back bitterly at the raids he had taken part in, just for the sake of killing a mythos or two.

"Looking back, I think my parents tried to protect me from people by hiding it. I'm sure one or both of them were skinwalkers like me." he trailed off for a second before returning to the conversation. "What about you? What did you do before?"

Eryn awoke with a start. Her eyes popped open and she felt her heart beating quickly. She tried to take a deep breath, but she felt like she'd had the wind knocked out of her. She must have had an awful dream. She glanced over at the clock, realizing that she had only been asleep for a half hour.

I might as well get something to eat then.

She ran a hand through her hair and walked out of the room. When she arrived at the the kitchen she grabbed a plate of food and wandered towards the others. She sat down near Wes and Justin, giving them each a small smile.

"Uh.. Hi.." She said quietly.

"Hey, glad you could join us," Justin greeted. "Me, I was a combat lifesaver for a company of private contractors. It wasn't glamorous work, especially since the others kinda treated me as second-class because I preferred patching people up over shooting them, but someone had to do it. I'd always hear 'Hey, you know I was just messing with you, right?' when they needed my help, but they just went back to how they were once I got 'em back on their feet. It was just a group thing, pick on the medic." He toyed with the food on his plate for a second, then slammed his fork down.

"I don't even know why they did it! I mean, I was part of the fire teams, and I shot my fair share of people, sometimes while treating a guy!" Justin sighed, regretting the outburst. "Guys like that, they think they're the best thing since sliced bread. They didn't care what kind of contracts we took, just as long as they shot someone and got paid." He quickly stabbed a piece of meat with his fork. "It's really easy to lose yourself in that line of work, with those kinds of people."

Wes smiled at Eryn as she approached. "Good to see you." He stopped there in a bit of confusion. Now that she was here, he didn't know what to say. He looked down a bit, then to Justin as he told about his past.

He flinched at the outburst. "I know what you mean. Don't regret being excluded, you don't want to be like them."

"Yeah, I know..." Justin trailed off. More than you think, actually. Resting his head on his left arm, he slowly continued eating his food, trying not to imagine what his teammates had done to the Mythos prisoners, or Sky.

Eryn pushed the food around on her plate. She took a small bite from her steak, grimacing when she realized how over cooked it was. How can they eat this? It's disgusting. I wish I could go hunting..

Looking over at Wes she realized that he seemed to be avoiding eye contact with her. "What did I do this time?" She asked him, a bit of steel to her voice.

Looking to Eryn in surprise, Wes faltered for a second. "Uhh...nothing."

"Wait, what do you mean 'this time'?" he asked, sounding a bit more hostile than he intended.

The blades cut through the air as Vasilli punches forward towards the practice target. The dummy's side splits as he finishes the arc of the punch, the blade completing a wider arc due it's curve.

"Dammit, I was a little off, I was aiming to cut it totally in half," he sighs, looking at the split in the dummy. He flicks one of the spikes on his back over and pierces the head of the dummy. "That always works as a back up..." he grins lightly, feeling the mineral begin to retract into his skin again.

"Where are the others anyway?" he mutters to himself before wandering further into the base.

Vasilli eventually finds his way to the kitchen, seeing Eryn, Wesley and Justin, his lips twitched as he looked at the human.

"What's going on?" he asks, looking between the three of them.
Oh yeah, I'm back, eventually.

"I didn't do anything. I just noticed that you were awfully quiet and seemed to be avoiding eye contact with me. But thanks for assuming that I did something wrong." Eryn rose from the table, grabbing her tray and cup.

"What's going on?" She heard Vasilli ask.

"Nothing. Everything's peachy." She said as she walked passed him, tossing her tray and cup in the nearest trash can before walking back to her room.

"We were just enjoying a nice family dinner," Justin began, poking fun at the situation. "It's always so hard to get everyone together because of our hectic schedules, so I'm glad we could all just eat together this one night, you know?" Putting another bite of food into his mouth, he pushed it all to one cheek as he turned to Wes.

"I'd let her sleep on it before trying to fix anything, man."

"I don't even know what I did..." Wes lamented turning back to his food after watching Eryn leave. Justin's jokes were lost on him, but he could tell that the human was trying to lighten the situation so forced a small smile. It was then that Vasilli's presence finally registered.

"Oh, hi." he said, taking a large bite of steak and chewing on it.

"So, what did you do before 'all this'?" he asked around bites, trying to move the conversation along.

Anthony watched from the frame of the door as his teammates ate. It was comforting to see that many of them were beginning to get along. It was sad but it appeared that the death of someone was enough to make them unite as one body, one team. Now if only he could join them.

He stood there and watched, knowing that they would soon know exactly what they were doing now. He had a feeling that they would not be so accepting of the upcoming missions. They were in deep, and now they had to dig their way out.

Eryn walked back into her room, closing the door shut behind her and locking it. She lied down in her bed, curling up in the sheets. She closed her eyes, slowly starting to fall asleep.

I overreacted. Again. But how could I not? He assumed that I had done something wrong when I hadn't.

Her stomach grumbled, reminding her that she had only eaten a few bites from her plate. "Damn.."

After sitting in silence for a while, Rolf finally got to his feet, his bones creaking again, and exited his room. Starting to pace the corridors without any particular goal in mind.

Anthony watched as Eryn stormed off. She was still obviously broken inside, someone needed to reach out to her. He didn't know what he could do, he was becoming more detached from the team everyday.

He walked down down the corridors and found Rolf pacing as well, "It does you no good to isolate yourself from the group," he said approaching the dead man.
