But you'll have to buy her a scotch later. :p

Ailia looked at Lon the Volus as her copy of Alliance Corsair booted up. "A Volus engineer's, frankly, less of a stretch than a biotic Quarian. No offence." She glanced at Komma.

Looked like she was the only Human in this little party, after all, if the only one missing was an Asari. She'd need to watch her back more than usual. It wasn't that she didn't trust aliens. She didn't really trust anyone but her direct superiors, the ones she could look in the eye in the flesh. Her paranoia was otherwise equal-opportunity, especially now that these Cerberus guys had showed up looking to... she wasn't sure what, but she knew it couldn't be good.

Maybe the Asari could at least be an interesting conversationalist. And be a bit easier on the eyes than the rest of them.

She suddenly felt very uncomfortable and moved the zipper of her jacket up a little more. Discreetly, of course.

"A Volus engineer's, frankly, less of a stretch than a biotic Quarian. No offence."
Komma presented his most regal of middle fingers. He never understood the significance, but the humans didn't like it. Therefore, must be bad. Like pulling down your pants in public.
"Yes, yes I've heard it all before. Like a unicorn, make a wish, etc." He made dramatic hand gestures, and got onto his omni-tool. No new messages, so his friends were either asleep or the Elcor found them. He sighed, lazily. Waiting for an Asari.
This will take awhile. He rolled his eyes, an action completely unseen by his allies. Helmet and all.

"Hold up Commander Fletcher. Duty calls, then back to Corsair." sighed Nilus. He closed down his game of Alliance Corsair and pushed a few buttons. "I'm patching everyone in except for Klack. We'll see what Thorel has to say about this."

"Rear Admiral, I have a Volus here claiming to be our demolitions expert. By the name of Lon Klack." he muttered. "Yes, patch him in." Nilus growled as he patched the Volus in.

"Lon Klack is a talented mercenary and demolitions expert. He's been hired to be part of your squad." said Thorel with a sense of finality. "He took part in the First Contact War, and several mercenary operations. He's almost on par with an N7 Marine." growled Thorel. "Anyone who disapproves can take it up with me. Anything further?"

"Yes, yes I've heard it all before. Like a unicorn, make a wish, etc."

Komma appeared to be pointing into the sky (or the equivalent, since they were on the Citadel) with one of his three fingers. Ailia cocked an eyebrow at him, unsure what he thought he was doing, but she figured he must have been trying to insult her, so apparently he'd also ignored the "no offence" addendum.

She rolled her eyes, shook her head, and returned her attention to her omnitool. No point arguing. If he was gonna be like that, he wasn't worthy of attention, anyway.

"A Volus engineer's, frankly, less of a stretch than a biotic Quarian. No offence."

"A biotic Quarian?" Lon thought, "How did he survive eezo exposure with their species' immune system?"

"Rear Admiral, I have a Volus here claiming to be our demolitions expert. By the name of Lon Klack. Yes, patch him in."

Lon turned to the view screen and saw Thorel.

"Lon Klack is a talented mercenary and demolitions expert. He's been hired to be part of your squad. He took part in the First Contact War, and several mercenary operations. He's almost on par with an N7 Marine. Anyone who disapproves can take it up with me. Anything further?"

Under his suit, Lon was grinning and had to stop himself from laugh.

"Thank you for... clearing that up Admiral," Lon said, looking to the Turian, to catch his expression learning "a greedy Volus" was almost as good as many N7s.

Nilus grunted. "Volus hold up the squad. They're slow, and I've lost men before because a Volus couldn't keep up." he growled at Lon. "If you slow us down, you'll be replaced quickly. Death and dishonor await those who balk their duty."

Death and dishonor await those who balk their duty."

"And even moreso for their commanding officers who got them in that position." Litherax exited out of his game, he was preparing to send in a small STG team to take out a rebel leader in the Hawkwing Eta cluster.

"How did he survive exposure to element zero with their species' immune system?"

"Don't let the suit fool you, the Quarians are much stronger than they let on. Knew a mercenary still on his pilgrimage going through Batarian space, carried one of my men out of a bunker while it was in the process of demolition, three shots in his back and into the blizzard the place was under. We get out of our hole a day later after the storm blew over and he was still alive, half frozen and burning up with fever, but alive. My man made it out with half his body cybered and a base job on Palaven. The same goes for the Volus. They may be low in the hierarchy, but that doesn't make them any less dangerous. You've seen some of the big corporate takeovers, alot of it couldn't have been done without them. Though in my sector, we didn't have many Volus in any active military roles,"He smiled again, mandibles tilting at an angle,"Didn't have many of anything in my sector actually, but I'm wasting time, when is it we can expect this Asari? She is overdue obviously."

I know what it said, he's simply stating that their stronger than they appear, just because it has bullets instead of eezo doesn't invalidate it.

"Oh, don't worry," Lon said to Nilius, "I can keep up, I have a lot of endurance for my kind. I am also very good at making... unorthodox shortcuts. I was almost upgraded from the Turian Auxillery units to the regulars for my great training results until I found... better paying alternatives."

The Quarian comment was supposed to be a thought, not something Lon said openly.

"Ha! A Volus in the regulars? You keep believing that Mr. Klack." chuckled Nilus. "Now Commander Fletcher, if you'd like to return your attention to your Corsair Ship, I think you'll find a hole in your cargo bay, courtesy of me."

Showing the second bit of actual emotion she's had so far today, Ailia smirked. "Sorry, Nilus, could'nae hear you over the sounds of your screamin' crewmen on decks 2 and 3. Might wanna seal off that hole." An explosion sounded from their omnitools. "An' that one."

Ravvik heard the others talk as the volus introduced himself, he had never seen a volus fight before, certainly he'd been hired by them in the past and killed a few even, put a few good holes in their suit and they'd skid acroos the floor like a balloon with a hole in it before bursting from the pressure, this volus's suit appeared to have modifications to make it combat worthy but he still doubted its effectiveness in battle, oh well, would be interesting. After a bit of thought he decided to introduce himself, the others were making too much noise playing their game for him to concentrate on reading anyways.

"Greetings I am Ravvik," he said as he approached the volus, tipping his hat slightly, "I must say I've never seen a volus fight before, run yes but never fight, how exactly do you manage it? The guns are as big as you."

"Oh Fletcher... Ever tried improvising with escape pods? You can use them to go through hull breaches and get into enemy ships. Speaking of which... Raiding party on deck 3! Better respond to that while I charge my Thanix Cannons." laughed Nilus.

"Better respond to that while I charge my Thanix Cannons."

"Heard this from Captain Shepard herself: Charge cannons first. I'm at 94%. Ne'remind, 95, about four seconds before your raiding party has nowhere to go. And I even made sure to outfit my entire crew with more than just pistols, so your boys are outnumbered, if not outgunned. Any last words?" Her finger hovered over the fire button for her cannons as her ship came about to point them at Nilus' ship. "Think fast, two seconds."

"Good meetings as well,' Lon said, "Your weapons as big as me, my weapons suit me just fine."

He pulled out his Ultralight M-25 Hornet.

"My guns are not my speciality however, I-" Lon started, before he heard the explosions.

"Oh Fletcher... Ever tried improvising with escape pods? You can use them to go through hull breaches and get into enemy ships. Speaking of which... Raiding party on deck 3! Better respond to that while I charge my Thanix Cannons."

Lon grabbed his weapon, held it at attention, ready to either be a boarding party or fend off invaders.

Who is being boarded? Is this battle just over communications?

That was from the Captain and Commander's friendly game of Alliance Corsair. :p

Ai glances at Lon for a split second. "Easy, Lon. C-Sec dos'nae like guns out in the open on the Citadel. Aside from theirs, anyway."

Komma snorted in reaction to his little volus buddy, and decided to ask,
"Where're the barracks or wherever we'll be sleeping? I'm tired as hell..." He made an attempt at rubbing his eyes, but the visor intervened. He sighed, how does he always forget that?

Lol Iving. We're playing a game over our Omni-Tools.

"Last words? Good one Fletcher. My "Last Words" are "reinforcements"" laughed Nilus mockingly. He pushed a button and another ship came out of FTL travel nearby and opened fire on Ailia's ship. "Learnt that one from a friend of mine from the Battle of the Citadel."

End it here with either persons victory, I don't mind, but your post is the last one in this epic game of Alliance Corsair

Lon put away his weapon.

"May I kindly request," Lon said, "You do not play that game when we are in a military instilation waiting for orders. I do NOT want to be thinking it is just "your game" when we are under and actual attack."

Ailia's face returned to its default stoic expression, even as she pushed the button that fired her Thanix cannons at Nilus' first ship just before the cavalry disabled her weapons. Then she sent her nearly-crippled ship forward and around and used its boosters to ram the reinforcement ship. The word "DRAW" appeared on both their omnitools in dull grey letters (in their respective languages, of course).

"Mine are 'you're comin' with me'. Shame. I was lookin' forward to the loser buyin' a round of drinks."

"May I kindly request," Lon said, "You do not play that game when we are in a military instilation waiting for orders. I do NOT want to be thinking it is just "your game" when we are under and actual attack."

"And people say I need to lighten up," Ai responded as she closed her omnitool. Maybe this Nilus guy wasn't so bad, but she still didn't much care for the rest of them. And it didn't seem the Asari was going to show, so it seemed the Captain was going to be her only conversation partner. Not that she needed one, but they were nice to have.

Consider it ended. :p
