Breath of Fire. Not a cell phone game for pity's sake, but a full-blown console adventure, and set in the war-torn era many games have referred to but never portrayed- the age of the Dragon Empire when people still trusted the Goddess Myria. I always pictured it to be the natural result of the power imbalance between an active Dragon Clan and all of the other races. Even a portable would be better than the current status quo.

Lots of Final Fantasy talk, but I got the impression their target audience is still gobbling up Fabula Nova Crystalis like mad. Different tastes, and they'd be foolish to discard their more loyal customers. I once proposed a spin-off series calling back to FF6's graphical style (only more detailed sprites and backgrounds) and FF5's class system, perhaps that would go over better in NA.

Yes to a 2D/2.5D Metroid on the 3DS. Lots of people including myself were psyched for Metroid SR388 (fan mod remake of Metroid II with all of Super Metroid's moves and lots of new areas/bosses), they'd gladly embrace another official release.
Not here for the thread, just thanking you for giving a shoutout to my favorite song on the FFXIII soundtrack

Because DS got worse with each sequel. Heck, it kinda reminds me the path Resident Evil is following now.
Um, what? DS1 may have had the best atmosphere by a small margin, but to me the silent protagonist, slightly more clunky combat, and stasis/Kinesis being frustrating to use (to the point of being nearly useless in the Kinesis's case) make it nearly unplayable compared to the later games.

Earthbound. Come on already. I don't care if the studio went bankrupt or whatever. Whatever the story is. Its earthbound, it's not a hard franchise to make. The goofier, the better. You can literally do whatever you want with Earthbounds world. You want the kids in the game to fight a giant race of super smart army ants, so be it. Or maybe they fight a giant building in the game that's aware of itself and is now attacking. You can do anything you want. Just make it cool like it was in the first game, I'll be happy. The more odd, the better.
Or Just translate and release Mother 3 overseas. Or just use the fan translation and release it. You know, like it should have been years ago.

I'm noticing a pattern here:
Series: [Third-party series that used to be Nintendo-exclusive]
Solution: [Sell back to Nintendo and let Retro make it]
I can't fault that logic.

Castlevania: Ignore Lord of Shadows. Stay away from the 3D. Keep Kojima as far away from the series as possible.

Neverwinter Nights 3. I will baaaaaaaaaw if it comes out.

If someone just bothers to make a NWN3 game and sticks to the tried and true formula. It'll be great.

People are literally basing the death of Final Fantasy on one game that wasn't even that bad. Jesus, hyperbole is abound here.
I don't know about other people. But I am not basing it on just 1 game.

FFX-2 (not that bad, I could have forgiven SE if this was the only game they messed up)
FFXII (personal choice, but I really don't like the combat)
FFXIII (decent enough game, just not FF)
FFXIII-2 (messy and unnecessary sequel)
FFXIV (big fuck up)

I don't remember the combat in DS1 being clunky or broken. DS1 had a better story, flow and setting. DS2 improved on the combat somewhat, but abandoned everything else.

It kinda reminds me of Bioshock 1 and 2. BS1 being better than the sequel in every aspect except the combat.

Release an HD version of the three games (or at least the last two) like they did with Metal Gear and the Hitman series.
What is going on right now with the fan made remake might work but I think this would be enough for a start.

A 15$ Steam/XBLA/PSN multiplayer only game could also work even though I really liked the single player of both games and the challenges.

Silent Hill: You have a horror setting where NOTHING has to make sense. This many games in, the rules and lore are surprisingly almost nonexistent yet rather than just going nuts with it and making the most terrifying and outrageous spectacle of mindblasting horror ever...they don't.
Next Silent Hill game plot, go!

Your name is Melissa Anderson. You're an electrician taking a few weeks vacation to visit a friend in the old resort town of Silent Hill. You have a wonderful time.

Have your player wander the dark, fog covered streets of non-tourist-season Silent Hill, awaiting jump scares and interacting with (potentially Innsmouthian) residents for an hour or so.

Then have them return home, and kick off the horror in a new more urban setting that becomes more and more disconnected from reality as time passes.

Siren: Make more games?
Monsters that never die? Contagious curses? Euphoria-fueled zombies? Hell yes.

Resident Evil: All Leon, all the time, and more fanservice?
Does the fanservice involve Leon?

I'll give another solution for Final Fantasy.
Give it to Mistwalker.

Just give it back to the people who know what the hell they're doing with it, and it'll get all awesome again. Lost Odyssey is basically Final Fantasy in everything but name (maybe The Last Story was too, haven't played it), so all it needs is the name and Final Fantasy will be that series that tears everything that competes against it a new one again.

The Tales series is awesome. If SE would remake any FF game between 1 and 9 in the style of the latest Tales games I would definitely buy it. The FF HD remakes don't have to have FF13 graphics.

The thing is: if SE can't make anything new right, then make the old better.

As for graphics in general... I always compare it with movies. The Hollywood (Summer) blockbuster throw 100 million at the screen to look pretty. And that's okay, because I like pretty. I am not expecting those movie to have some greater meaning or story. They just need to flow along. The best example of this is Avatar. One of the best (if not THE best) looking movie I have seen. But the story is generic (and copy-pasted from other movies). I still love Avatar though.

There is a 'but' and here it comes... BUT those blockbusters are not enough. They satisfy the eyes but not the mind. I also like deep and thoughtful movies and those rarely coincide with blockbusters (with the exception of Inception and such). The 'indie' movies work on a lower budget. That budget is enough to bring those movies back to life.

Back to games... I have (finally) started playing FTL (Faster Than Light) and I have already put 30+ hours into it. And what is it? A game with a bunch of pixels slapped together in a space ship. That game doesn't need graphics.

Warcraft.

Blizzard should seriously consider creating either a singleplayer RPG Mass Effect-style built around a VR technology such as the Oculus Rift or make a WoW 2.0 that really incorporates and embraces new technologies that has come out since it was released, as well as taking a step back and looking at what made everything go wrong after Wrath of The Lich King and not doing it in the new game.

Fair enough. I have seen a few people simply ragging on FFXIII though, particularly for its linearity, when almost none of the rest of the series is like that.
It's worth noting that I basically ignore the MMOs and I haven't played XIII-2, although I heard the latter improved on XIII. I'm also not a huge fan of FFXII, but that's mostly personal preference, so it's nothing that would cause the demise of Final Fantasy.

batman = make the new superman movie and arkham origins and then take it behind the barn and put a bullet in it's head. you can hire a necromancer in 10-15 years to bring it back if you want to but please just give the caped crusader a break. this is like watching a dear friend suffering.

Breath of Fire. Pretty much any sequel except the one that's currently in the pipes would save the series in my eyes.
