A few years ago, there were reports of active paedophiles 4 miles south of where I live. One day, it was just me (16 years old) and my brother, who was 10 still at home. We were watching TV upstairs and I heard a creak and then footsteps. Bear in mind that there really had been a paedo, I went to investigate. I called out, but nobody answered and the footsteps stopped. I told my brother not to move and stay quiet while I went to get a rounders bat from downstairs, and when I got back up guess what It had been? My dog.

When I was really in danger though? Me and a friend were walking along a footpath through a woods. There was a fork in the path and we picked left because the signs stopped. After about 5 minutes, this old woman came out of the trees behind us with a gun of some sort (we think it was an air rifle) and a massive dog and chased us until we jumped in a river and waded almost a mile downstream before going home and sheepishly explaining to my parents what had happened.

when i was like 13, i was playing football over the park with some friends, we look at this group of older boys and they just started chasing us, me being a fat fucker got left behind and they caught me, one had a pole in his hand and was threatening me, i put on a brave face and just told them to "calm down and how i didnt do anything wrong", they said "fair enough, but dont let us see you around here again"

so i went home, only to realise that i had left my bike there, so my dad and his mate (who is a fucking nutter i might add) went to go and get it, and the nutter friend chased them off just to scare them, well thats what my dad told me

Pretty much every time I see/play/read a horror movie/game/creepypasta and come home afterwards. My house is scary at night and it doesn't help that I'm a wuss. Don't know why I do that to myself. >.<

I was scared as hell when I watched The Blair Witch Project. I didn't scream once, but my roommate said I was shaking at one point. I did not sleep afterwards for a solid week.

Fuck that movie. Never again. I couldn't believe that my roommate called this his "most favorite movie of all time."
Similar story, though the film in question doesn't scare me any more.

When I was six, Clash of the Titans (1981) was on during the late afternoon, December, so sun sets at five, or something. My parents were out, my sisters were doing whatever they did, so I was watching it by myself. Then, River Styx/underworld scene, where Harry Hamlin et al are indulging in a bit of Gorgon hunting. I didn't scream/cry or anything like that, but my eyes were stuck to the TV screen, and once her eyes turned green, bricks were shat, probably.

Didn't sleep much or well for a month, carried a mirror around with me for a few weeks and jumped at people making eye contact with me.

Anyone who watched that as a kid (of fewer than double figure years) that didn't shit themselves is probably lying. My sisters watched Alien when they were seven, or something, with my old man and he was thoroughly amused afterwards, seeing their scared-out-of-their-minds reaction.
