I really enjoyed playing through Tron 2.0, it's a surprisingly fun Deus Ex 1 style FPS (e.g. has rpg level-up elements) game for PC and if you have a reasonable PC (read: able to play FarCry 1)it looks absolutely gorgeous with all the settings maxed out :-D

A WWII game? Standing out because it focuses on realism and historical accuracy? I am so sorry, but unless it opens a time vortex in your living room to pull you onto the front lines I am left shaking my head, I mean it is a WWII FPS after all, how much different can it be from the eight billion other WWII FPS out there? Maybe a WWI FPS.
Yeh WWII games are done to death but this is different, its nothing like DoD:S or CoD. Obviously only people who were in that war know what it was like, but this game really does create an experience of war you don't get in other FPS, its something you would have to try yourself to see.

WWI would be boring though, standing in a trench for stupid amounts of time avoiding artillery fire then finally going over the top only to be gunned down by an MG.

As does Mare Nostrum, the 'add-on'
Aye, been playing that a lot recently since it got hosted on Steam.

-Eternal Silence: With the success of games such as EVE Online and the X-Series I find it mind boggling I've only seen up to six people playing this game at any one time. Like the aforementioned games you pilot several types of customizable spacecraft and dock for supplies. The kicker though is that you are able to leave your ship in a space station, to go in first person shooter mode, and even steal another player's ship. The amount of work put into this game and the amazing possibilities (exploding debris physics and hiding in asteroid fields anyone?) make this a worthwhile experience.
Yeh this is an awesome mod, I played it all the time when it first came out, used be quite a few populated servers, shame its nearly dead now. But I do believe it will be a hosted mod on Steam soon which should bring in a lot more players.

Slaughter Sport aka Tongue of the Fatman. Not because it was good (it was awful) but because it featured characters like a punk girl who had snakes coming out her mohawk and a sumo with a giant tongue in his stomach.

Heres a pic: http://uk.gizmodo.com/tongue_of_the_fatman.jpg

Panzer Front, known simply as "the tank game" in my house, for the PS1 was weirdly fun. It kept me and my friend amused for days and we still don't know how.

Hmmmmm...

Vigilante 2nd Offensive on the Dreamcast ... no? It was great. Car based deathmatchs, destructible environments, co-op mission, rpg-elements (leveled stats for each car). It was massively buggy at time but a total riot.

Steambot Chronicles for the PS2

Think Fable, set it in a steampunk world, with customizable giant robots and HUGE bosses. Oh yeah, and give it a suprisingly Dark Revenge Story in an otherwise light hearted world.

I'm going to check a few of these out. I've heard of Jet Force Gemini but never owned an N64 or any other Nintendo home console for that matter. Not for lack of wanting, though. I was going to buy a Wii a few weeks back, but realized that I kept going to the Gamecube section for my first games and abandoned that idea. So, I'm going to borrow my friend's old GC and games.

Earth Defense Force 2017 - You shoot giant bugs and robots with some awesome weapons, like deploy-able sniper turrets, and homing missiles, and flamethrowers. Vehicles suck, but they are not forced on you.

Jagged Alliance 2 version 1.13 mods (PC) You assemble a bunch of mercenaries and try to shoot your way to victory in a war against a S.American island ruled by a dictator. If you've played any JA games before but haven't heard of 1.13, then re-install and head over to Bearspit and download it along with whatever mod you like, and replay it.... It's like a completely new game, a much better game.

Cave Story!
Entirely built by just one guy known as Pixel, from graphics to music and story, while each has its own charme. Combine this with great gameplay, cool boss fights, alternate endings and other stuff that makes you want to play this game a lot of times. It's mindblowing, really.
Oh, and free.

If you haven't played it, you can't call yourself a gamer imo.

I just replayed that a month ago. Great game. The only thing against it is the platform elements. Monolith FPSs are NOT designed for jumping (speaking from playing Tron, and the NOLF games). They always make you jump more vertically than other FPS jumping.

Startopia

Kind of like Sim City, except it's on a space station. Also it is to a small degree influenced by Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Vagrant Story for the Playstation. I love that game, and nobody seems to know what it is. I couldn't put it down. Love the graphics, the battle system and the story.

Ugh, I never made it very far in this one, warning, it's NIGH UNPLAYABLY HARD at times, but yeah, it's worth it if you have the cajones. Think Fantasy Metal Gear without Kojima's madness and an amazing script.

SaGa Frontier - an open-ended RPG before they were cool. Seven characters, seven seperate storylines that cross paths. Shame the only storyline I played through to the end was the mystic girl's plot. Can't spell her name right. Asseules or something...And combat was great because the more you used a type of weapon or magic, the more skills you learn. And let's not forget my favorite robot of all time, T260G. Heck, one of your characters was a superhero and could transform in battle as long as your team was only built of him and mechs or your other teammates were dead. Plus, you had the monster characters who absorbed an enemy of choice at the end of battle to get a skill and change into one of the in-game monsters, which actually affected their stats. And everyone gained stats after every victory.

Sim Tower; you administrate and control a [up to 100 story] building with various things inside.
Make a successful tenement or commercial high-rise. You're in control.

This I have realized several times and had to stop myself from throwing controls through TV screens. I keep playing it though . . . after I spend a few hours browsing the web for a guide.

Nobody remembers Jet Set Radio Future. I prefered this to Halo and Tony Hawk among the Xbox's release titles.

Some great RTS games that were overshadowed by Starcraft, Total Annhilation and Age of Empires were Dominion by Ion Storm and Dark Colony by Strategic Simulations. The graphics were unparalleled at the time. good luck getting it to run on your current PC though.
