Aged Well: Civ IV
Heck, just put Civ 1, well, Civnet then, maybe 2 (as broken as it is), but you definately don't need newer.

I think Homeworld has aged magnificently. The gameplay is still compelling, and the more stylized 3D graphics really maintain their visual attractiveness to the degree that I think it still looks better, aesthetically if not technically, than the more recent Sins of a Solar Empire.
Absolutely. Homeworld was awe inspiring when I first played it, and it's still at least excellent, even if graphically aged.

I'd also say the Baldur's Gate series aged well for me. The fantastic storytelling, the unforgettable NPCs, the vast game world...I still play them all to this day, and I have yet to find a better over-all RPG. Here's hoping Dragon Age and take the new place!

As for games that aged badly?
I'd have to say Morrowind. Well, let me clarify: Vanilla (No mods) Morrowind. I tried playing it again recently, and was just very very annoyed. I could barely hit anything at low level since it was all 'to hit' rolls, ranged weapons were all but completely useless, and the character models were just awful.

I loved it when it came out, and played the crap out of it. But I just can't play it now.

Well: Warcraft -> Successful RTS turned MMO monster, former still has a following - especially DOTA custom map.

Badly: Sonic. Poor little thing.

Contra has aged very well. It still has some of the hardest games on the market. The TMNT series (for the SNES) has not aged well at all.

Aged well:
Final Fantasy 6. If you have never played it, just do yourself a favor and go do it.

Aged Poorly:
Final Fantasy 7. A huge accomplishment for its time, it is butt ugly now, and even more nonsensical than most FF stories.

To Devildoc: I did not read your original post before writing mine, but I do enjoy how we came to exact conclusion. I will admit you may have defended your point better though.

Aged Well:
Lylat Wars (Starfox 64)

Mainly because no one has come up with a (good) fly down corridors blasting things game since. It's a shame that nobody is able to improve on the formula, but the upshot it's still a lot of fun to play.

Aged Badly:
Doom 3

Doom 3 seemed amazing when it came out, unfortunately graphics have moved on and suddenly it's an extremely dull first person shooter. Amazing what hype can do.

I think one that's aged well has been Baldur's Gate 2 - the story, characters, setting and dialogue still suck me in even though I know it off-by-heart.

As for a bad-ager, I'd say the original Doom - it's ugly and it doesn't draw me in. I want to like it, but every time I play it just feels like a chore. Although the soundtrack is excellent.

star wars pod racer on the N64 has ages well. i never get bored of it, despite it's lack of depth. The graphics might not be the best in the world but i still love it.

alien vs predator didn't age well. i loved it at the time, but now it looks so outdated and shoddy it makes me wish they'd remake it just so i could play it happily.

Half Life 2 has aged extremely well. Even to this day, I consider the graphics "next gen", and it propelled the idea of a living breathing world with interesting and sympathetic characters. Oh, and the gravity gun was an awesome creation.

My friends and I still play the old C&C's and Starcraft, and for games that were for the most part, pretty old, we all agree that they are still great.

Smash Bros. too aged pretty well. Yeah, novelty of fighting Nintendo characters wore off but it was still fun as hell, and at the end of the day, isn't that what matters?

Aged horribly? Halo 2 and the last generation Grand Theft Auto's. Halo 2 was great because it had a multiplayer component (online), but now when you look back at them, it was without a doubt the worst. It felt like Halo, it WAS Halo, but it was not the stellar experience that was Halo 1 (well for me anyway. But that was my first FPS game ever, so yeah. :p)

The GTA 3 series aged badly too. I still play them, but the graphics were n64 era, and the controls didn't sit right when compared to GTA IV.

i'd say that Age of Empires 2 has aged pretty damn well. i went on the online gaming area (msnGamingZone) recently and there were still a couple of hundred people playing it, even though it has a sequal (which hasn't aged well at all).
another game that i think has aged amazingly well is Diablo 2. that game is a steaming train that shows no sign of slowing down.

The game that i find hasn't age very well at al is Halo Wars. it did pretty well off the bat, but that's most likely due to it's having Halo in the title. i thought that it was a pretty good game actually, given what it is, but it had almostno lasting appeal
