Name one moment when you lost all work because of an error. It could be from Disconnection, power outage, forgot to save, etc. For me, I was playing Final Fantasy 8 for 5-6 hours straight (didn't save during the time period), then the power went out, I didn't touch my Playstation for days after that.

I lost an entire 40 page novel I was working on, as well as about 20 pages of another one due to my computer dying last year. Now I've gotten smart, I double-backup everything.

I lost a level 30 Borderlands Soldier due to save corruption. I didn't play Borderlands for 4 months afterwards.

I was a good 7-8 hours into FF6 without saving when my friend who was over at the time wanted to go see a movie and couldn't get my attention because I had headphones on with music really loud. So to get my attention he walked over and turned off the computer. I got teary eyed and punched him

When my GBA glitched and deleted my save on Metroid 2, I had gotten about ten metroids.

When I realized I screwed up a Mass Effect one save by leaving Ashley instead if Kaiden- the next closest save was a good six hours back, and I still made myself do all the side missions.

I did a Maths Assignment the day it was due, tried to save and the network was apparently not working. It took me three hours to do and I had to restart the computer and redo it in and hour and a half. I missed a group meeting for another subject because of it too.

In terms of games: I gave my pokemon yellow game to a friend to play and try. I told her not to save because it had my Lvl 90 Mewtwo, Lvl 100 Venusaur and my Legendary birds I had got on another game. She switched computer boxes at some point without realising it'd save and I lost it all. I cried to my Dad and he just yelled at me for being three different kinds of stupid (lending my rare pokemon, getting so upset over a game and then coming to him for help).

My childhood was very pokemon heavy...

Power was knocked out right before I was about to save after about 3 hours of playing PSO.

Skipped a paragraph writing a lab report, made me rewrite a page and a half of instructions because I noticed too late.

i dont think i ever have lost all my work. I remember way back in elementry school, when we had to type essays, I often had to constently retype my essay, because no one ever told me about the "Insert" key.

OT: the new version of microsoft word has an auto-save

I lost a job once due to leaving a door open that I was physically guarding.

Oh gaming... uhh, happens too often to remember one specific incident. Power blinks out or brownouts more often than would be considered normal.

Almost the exact same thing happened to me!! I was playing the PC port of FF8 and, stupidly, the light switch of my room was for some strange reason wired to the electrical outlets, too. So my dad turned off the light and it shut down my computer. Lost a good 5 hours.

The worst one was quite a few years ago when I still had all of my computers up and running properly and my personal Linux file server still worked.

It had a to separate drives in it, a small one for the OS and a big one, 120GB at the time I think for storage. Something had happened to the OS drive and it had to be replaced, out of habit I copied all the stuff off of the storage drive on to my machine while I swapped the drives around.

I made the mistake of storing all the stuff on my server, my music, all the patches for my games, pictures, documents, videos, in a single folder on the desktop. Without a single thought for what I was doing at about 2:30 in the morning I selected the folder named "Server" and Shift+Delete'd it. Shift+Delete for those that don't know, bypasses the recycle bin and 'permanently' deletes the file. Of course for me it was permanent because it was a time before I'd heard of such things as hard drive recovery tools.

I'd almost beaten Golden Sun 2,Fire Emblem and received most of the badges in Pokemon Ruby on my Ipod emulator. Then it froze and deleted all my data in an attempt to stat working again.
