Xenosaga Episode III: Also sprach Zarathustra was better than the first 2.

Anyone who hasn't played all 3 three all the way through can't comment either.

Movie: The Dark Knight > Batman Begins
I think I'm the only person who didn't like The Dark Knight.
I liked it, but I would rather watch Batman Begins any day of the week.

Storm of Swords > Clash of Kings > A Game of Thrones (but Feast of Crows disappointed)
I disagree here. I agree that Storm of Swords is by far the best in the series, but A Game of Thrones is better than Clash of Kings. Other than a few key parts, I felt Clash of Kings drug its feet a bit. Plus, A Game of Thrones had probably the most memorable, game-changing event in any book I've read (no spoilers here, but if you've read the series I'm sure you know what I'm referring to.)

The Elder Scrolls 3 > The Elder Scrolls 1 or 2
Did you play Daggerfall? I am a huge Elder Scrolls fan, and Morrowind was one of my favorite games ever, but so is Daggerfall. They each have their own charm, and I think that Daggerfall has Morrowind beat in many aspects (such as variety in gameplay and innovation).

Gotta disagree with you there, KH1 > KH2 because KH2 = Triangle button. I remember a boss fight where all I did was move in the boss's general direction (not even really paying attention) and mashing X until the Triangle button symbol appeared, then mashing that until it died.

The too-easy fights sucked the life out of that game, but then so did the dull story.

Pony Jam 2009 was superior to Pony Jam '08. '09 had Twinkles the Pegasus. '08... Butter[small]groan[/small]cup Fury.

Just about every sequel in Pendragon topped its predecessor.
I'd have to go with this, even though I stopped reading the books after Zadda...I think. BTW, nice Balrog avatar.

On topic, I'd have to go with Pikmin 2, Banjo-Tooie, and Mother 3.

EDIT: Actualy, I stopped after Eelong, not Zadda.

Left4Dead, much better then the others in the series Left1Dead, Left2Dead and Left3Dead
Although I did think the third one would have done it but it just wasnt there.

Far cry 2 I would say is also up there, along with Aliens being better then Alien, And T2 being better then T1 (In my opinion. I though Dawn of the Dead(Original)was better then Night of the living dead.

I found it quite challenging at times, and the forms were awesome, did you even try fighting sephiroth?

Do they have to be the immediate sequal? If so, then Daggerfall, if not, then Daggerfall, Morrowind and Oblivion compared to teh first, Arena. It did not suck, but the rest were definatly better.
Though the idea that the first is best is a theory I accept. Halo being my primary example.

I think we've proven the OP wrong on this front. Obviously he didn't put much thought into this when he challenged us to name one true sequel better than the original.

There's nothing for me to add that hasn't already been added several times over, but I'll stir up some controversy and say that MGS2 > MGS1.

Most albums are better than the bands EPs. :)

I'll try and think of ones I don't think have been said...

Timesplitters 2 was much better than 1.
Age of Empires 2.
Worms Armageddon > Worms world party > Worms 2 > Anything 3D.

I was late to the party, but I find Baldurs Gate 2 better than the first. That might have been graphically biased, so should be disregarded.
