Even though I can't play the games I'm most excited for when they come out (not a powerful enough PC + don't own any current gen consoles for exclusives + money + life priorities), I'm still excited for when I can play them. The wait will probably be worth it. Still, I can be very critical about even my most favorite franchises: I just can't help nitpicking.

Batman: Arkham is one of my most beloved franchises and I'm very excited for Arkham Knight, yet the gameplay preview actually LOWERED my excitement for the game, confirming some of my worries. I was worried the fear takedowns would be too cheap and more quick time eventy than the gameplay usually gets, and that is saying something, and they do seem to be that way. The batmobile looks like it controls well and may be more naturally included in the game and less awkwardly gimmicky than some thought. Other than that though and the contributions it makes to the "puzzle solving" elements (if one can call them that) I see some derivativeness from vehicle combat I've played in other games that is kind of stale and outdated at this point. And with the Arkham Knight having this heavily militarized army it's clear some of the Arkham City "Would this actually be able to play out" writing has transferred over. I mean, I cannot help wondering how the heck did he get all those drones and tanks, let alone how did he get them into the city.

I'm also excited for Hyrule Warriors, but there's always the worry that the game might be too repetitive and button mashy. I've never played Dynasty Warriors, so I don't know how that gets. But hey it breaks up the formula more than Zelda games usually do and brings back Midna who I was really missing. Unlike Arkham Knight I was left more optimistic than I had felt before upon hearing and seeing more.

So, what are your concerns about the games you're most looking forward to?

Metal Gear Solid: The Phantom Pain - it's going to do some really nasty and unbefitting things with women :( Kojima has never been great with certain aspects of female characters and the serious look of Phantom Pain might spiral this right into horrible territory.

Pillars of Eternity - The Infinity Engine combat might be super unfun for me. I hate using mice for anything, I've even played MMOs with a controller, and the infinity engine system always seemed button-spamming everything-spinning-out-of-control in the first place. Also I really want it to be polished, not for my own enjoyment, but because I want people to be able to appreciate an Obsidian game for it's genius.

Duels of the Planeswalkers 2015 - I don't want the deck-building to suck but it might. I'm worried you could get stuck with a cruddy deck or the card choice won't be varied enough to feel like you've done much with the game. It would also be nice if the story didn't suck, but I think that's too much to hope for.

Games I'm excited about... games I'm excited about...

Umm. This must be what getting old feels like.

Well, I guess I'm concerned that Walking Dead: Season Two will never measure up to the original. I'm starting to think they should have just left off that stupid fucking cliffhanger from the first season/series and quit while they were ahead.

I'm concerned that Wolf Among Us won't be able to have as much of a climax as it deserves on account of it's prequel status. There's only so much you can do when you need to fit into an established canon.

Those probably weren't the kind of game OP had in mind.

Ohh, ohh! Mirror's Edge 2. I've been happy about almost everything I've heard, but I'm concerned they're going to make it too combat-heavy. Some refining of the combat systems would be welcome, but I'd prefer enemies be something that you bypass or shove aside while you sprint for the exit, not something you need to systematically eradicate before moving on. Also, there's the potential that EA will fuck it up with their obsessive online bullshit. I've heard comparisons with Journey's approach to online, which makes me happy, but they could just be saying that to lull me into a false sense of security.

Lastly, Dragon Age: Inquisition. On the one hand, I'm looking forward to more Bioware. On the other hand, I suspect we're just going to be getting more Bioware. It makes me sad that a developer that I earnestly believe could do great things, or at least pretty awesome things, seems unable to make anything other than "Cardboard Cutout Hero and colourful band of sexy companions Saves World from Ancient Evil." They do it well enough I suppose, and there's always fun to be had along the way, but Jesus fucking Christ, try taking a few steps away from the RPG comfort blanket one day.

I'm pretty much right here myself. I know I will buy Inquisition, and I can't imagine a scenario where it's a game I don't enjoy (I even quite liked DAII), but it will likely be more of the same, and after 2 Dragon Age games and 3 Mass Effect games in the last few years, I think their formula may be wearing out its welcome.

On that note, I would say I'm concerned about Mass Effect 4 or whatever it will be called, but I don't think I'm actually excited about it. I'm only worried. Worried that there is no possible way for them to continue the franchise without wrecking the lore. I think they said it would definitely not be a prequel, and a sequel has to deal with the multicolored endings.

Now how in the Sam Hill do you make that work?

The Witcher 3.

...nothing concerns me >:D

A game that I am a bit concerned for though, is No Man's Sky.

I hope that the project isn't over-ambitious, and that the team ends up pulling it off. An exploration-focused space sim which is randomly generated is a massive amount of work for such a small studio.

Nonethless, I still wish Hello Games luck. They are trying something radical, and I am fully behind that. Better a failure due to unrealistic expectations than artsy-platformer #450-sigma or brown-shooter #33.6c2.

The problem with those two was that it caught Bioware in that transitionary period where the old guys moved out and the new talent was brought in.

This is partly why the writing was more of a mess in both games, and why they felt more awkward than say, DA:O/A or Mass Effect 1/2.

Dragon Age Inquisition will be new Bioware's first proper game, without arbitrary time restrictions. Thus I hope that they will put their chance to shine to good use and show what the new talent is capable of.

Or alternatively, something will f**k up, and Casey Hudson will lock himself in a cupboard to write the ending all by himself. I pray that it doesn't happen again.

Yeah I hear that. That in and of itself is a bit concerning isn't it? Like I see a lot of games I'm definitely going to pick up but a lot of them just look playable rather than exciting or interesting.

"No Man's Sky" might not function as well in practice as it does in premise since it's still a bit experimental.

The 3DS port of smash bros very well might control like crap on the 3DS

Destiny sounds really cool but the gameplay I've seen has looked really bland

I'm concerned I won't have the time to get into any of the big sprawling RPGs that look good (namely the Witcher)

Shadow of Mordor- Well, I'm really worried about the nemesis system. If it fails, then this game will be a huge let down.

Dragon Age: Inquisition- Please don't suck, please don't suck, please don't suck.

Evolved- Please be good, please be good.

You do realize that there have been vehicles have been in Fallout games before right? In Fallout 2 there was that ever so helpful car to travel around in. :D

No Man's Sky.
My concern is that it will all be smoke and mirrors, and 90 % of the planets will be boring, repetitive and with a lack of things to do...

I'm worried that Adachi will be super technical and hard to play in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax. Not that that would stop me though.

Couple weeks ago I would have said SMTIV coming to Europe digital only. Now I'm upset.

I'm a little concerned over GG Zrd because of stuff like future DLC, keeping previously playable characters for selling later also platforms, I'll be forced to buy a PS3 now.

1) I'm worried Splatoon will have no local multiplayer, no bots, and no single player, meaning that unless the game immediately is a hit, it will be dead on arrival. :(

2) I'm worried smash bros 4 will end up being unbalanced in favor of one or two characters pretty badly again. And that Sonic will be super low tier again.

3) I'm Worried that GoD Factory will get absolutely zero attention when it's released, meaning that what I feel is the best online-multiplayer space sim in the history of gaming will fail horribly, despite being so much fun. :(

4) I'm worried that Freedom Planet will only have about 5 levels on release, making it really way too short.

5) That Zelda U and Hyrule Warriors will turn out to be nowhere as good as they're hyping it up to be.

6) That whenever Atlus releases the next Etrian Odyssey game, they'll focus more on the maligned, unnecessary, bad-idea story mode with set characters instead of the organic worldbuilding the series is good at, which not only takes away a ton of the story fun, but also gets in the ay of the teambuilding aspect I love about EO so much.

7) That Sonic Boom turns out to be total crap, thus ending the decent run of modern sonic games.

And that's about it for me.

Most i would like is a motorbike - a normal one, not a bullet proof one. So you really have to look after it. After all, there were loads of bike parts in the games.

1) Smash WiiU: I'm worried that the stages will be boring and essentially more Final Destinations.

2) Dragon Age Inquisition: I'm more worried for another Bioware backlash than the actual quality of the game. The more games they release, the more people become nitpick*ish* about every single details.

3) Nintendo in general: They don't succeed despite the games being good.
