I'd be mad because it would mean that I wasn't the first to think of this clever pun. (Well I thought it was clever.) It would make more since if screen names could include brackets or italics. If my first request for a screen name was denied, I'd probably spend twenty minutes thinking up a new one.

Well, I don't know if they turned up before or after me, but I typed my common-username into Google one day and found me, me, me, me and some guy on a website I've never heard of.
I think they took it. Unless they too are a huge Pterry fan and followed the same thought processes I did while watching a documentary about penguins.
Pfft. Yeah right.

It happened when I registered here.
This isn't a common occurrence, but I have had people deliberately register my screen name just to keep it away from me in another, long-dead gaming community (as a joke, or out of spite, I do not know).

To use the obvious example: I have no clue where the original "Atmos" is on The Escapist; I have never seen a post from that person anywhere, or if they even use the site anymore.
And I hold no grudges. It's just a screen name.

As long as the word Omega is in my name, people will know it's me. I just add the word Lightning to it on most occasions when Omega is taken.

Almost as angry as I was when CHuck came out.

That being said, the name I use most places has never been taken and I doubt it ever will be.

My username is always a variation of my actual name so it's never taken :)

I feel as if I've been robbed, as if part of my identity has been stolen, rage too, but mostly the being robbed part.

it's not really the theft of the name that gets me, it's the insultingly staplegun-to-scrotum ABSURD alternative suggestions they give to coddle me.

no, i don't want to be GoldenSensei. no, i don't want to be KidSensei89. and no, i sure-as-hell don't want to be SuperSenseiBrandon!

i just wanted my Live tag to be Sensei, just like it has been offline since before xbox live was even in alpha stage.

Honestly, i have never run into another person on the net that calls themselves "Akelzero" (which happens to be a mix of an imaginary friend's name and my favorite number =D).

Well, that's a bold claim, isn't it? If your name is taken, that doesn't exactly mean someone "stole" it, does it?

Also, no. My name's never taken.

Meh, I've never had my common name stolen. But I do get a little miffed when I see "Azure" used in a user name... I need to own that word... hmmmm...
