Do i need to play the first Mass Effect to play the second?

Not at all. As BioWare have stated rather frequently, though the game is a sequel it can stand alone as just a game to pick up and play. But if you care a lot about story in your RPGs like me then it's something you're going to want to do. Mass Effect probably has one of the best stories I've seen in a so-called "action RPG".

Well, I've pre-ordered three games but haven't paid the full amount for them yet. In order of release they're MAG, Heavy Rain, God of War 3.

The next game I'll buy is probably Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time.

If Gamestop has another BTGOF deal I'll get Mass Effect so I can finally play it. I don't know what else I might get. I was considering getting either KOTOR game, I wanna play them so badly again.

Perhaps I'll even get Morrowind. I thoguth it was shit because I bought it TWICE and both times I had to return it because I couldn't even kill a rat gnawing at my feet and labelled it as "beyond "broken". Yet loving Oblivion is compelling me to give Morrowind a third chance.

I'll be pre-ordering Mass Effect 2 over the weekend to get the Terminus Armor and Blackstorm heavy weapon. It's a good thing I kept my data from the first game! I heard that the new villains in this game are directly connected with the incident on Akuze, which is the background history for my version of Commander Shepard. I also heard that the combat system, which was pretty hard to get used to in the first game, is getting a major face-lift. So, yeah, I'm excited!
