Ehem. Had to put my own spin on the Search Bar Approved thing. And sorry about the longish title.

Anyways, Hey Escapists! I have mostly been lurking for the last few months for some odd reason and I felt like participating in the community more. So here is my attempt. The topic is pretty straight forward. Just name one or your biggest complaints from either one or a few of your favorite video game series/video game. Also, try to find something something you like about the thing you don't like, if you can. (I hope that makes sense) I'll start of course.

Series: Sly Cooper

I don't like how the voice actors always are changed in each game for certain characters. (Carmelita, Murray, Dimitri, etc.) Although, I do like how the voice actor replacements try to give the voices their own spin. Especially Carmelita's VAs.

Series: Disgaea/Kingdom Hearts

Probably KH more then Disgaea but both these series have the tendency to have very awkward lines in them. I can forgive both though because the voice actors in Disgaea always keep things hilarious and in both series the VAs are usually pretty good.

Keep in mind this is not intended to be a thread to troll anything in. Sharing opinions and debating is fine. Try to keep a polite manner like you usually do Escapists. Thank you.

Jak and Daxter series: The ubserd difficulty curve. Especially in Jak 2. Boner snapping frustration. Daxter can get on your nerve as well.

Disgaea is supposed to be hilarious. That's why it works so well.

Prince of Persia trology
The first game had monotonous combat, though it wasn't too bad from my point of view.

The second game went all 'emo' and played metal during the battles, but I actually liked the metal and the darker theme. The only actual bad parts of the game were the many glitches you could run into and the fact that it fucked up the story with a bad use of time.

The third game had a few annoying glitches, but nothing that you couldn't get past. The Dark Prince sections were a little more annoying than anything and I much prefered the dual-sword combat of Warrior Within to the Sword + Dagger, but it was still pretty good. Also, the final boss was half fight, half platform, and the final level was anticlimactic despite the fact it was trying to make a point.

Persona: You're battle system ranges from an annoying mess(Persona 1) to fun but tedious(P3). I love Persona 3/4's battles but with P3 it was find out their weakness and exploit it, rinse and repeat.

.Hack:Elk just Elk

.Hack G.U: The dungeons were boring, there were maybe about three types of dungeons and none of them particularly interesting to explore. There was the open field, the cave, the Japanese style area and raining open field. Sure the original didn't have that many dungeon designs but the were fun to explore.

Dynasty Warriors/Samurai Warriors

OK, it's not my favorite series, but I still love it.
There are many problems with it: Hilariously bad voice acting for anyone that isn't Yukimura Sonata (and a couple other important characters). It kinda gets repetitive since the entire point of the game is to push random buttons until everything on the screen is dead. Lu Bu isn't nearly as cool as he used to be.

Kingdom Hearts:

Same as OP

Metal Gear Solid:

Specifically with 2, codec sequences. I didn't mind them as much as other people, but after the 20th codec call that went on for an hour without a whole lot important dialog spoken, it got on my nerves.

Mass Effect: Bioware can't seem to get planet exploring right no matter what they do.

Yeah I know. That's why it only mildly annoys me at best. There is a whole lot of complaints I can find in the Disgaea series. Sometimes getting certain items or classes is a huge pain in the ass but it's not a requirement so oh well.

MGS. In the original MGS Snake has blonde hair. If you watch the debriefing the colonel says you got a haircut or something like that because he didn't want to look like liquid because low and behold they are twins. If i ruined the series for you then eat me lol. Its been out for 12 years you'll live lol. Then after that he just has brown hair always. wtf?
Yeah it's kinda of hard to dodge spoilers for 12 years. So you shouldn't worry. Also I never noticed that. (probably because I haven't really played a lot of MGS.) That's pretty weird.

Yeah. I'm playing Dark Hero Days on my PSP right now and the most annoying thing is perfecting items. I have to restart the game so much, and it's just so damned luck based! I miss just being able to climb up to level 100 and be done.

Psychonauts is a hilarious and compelling game. Still, if you've gotten to the last few levels you'll know that the difficulty curve skyrockets without warning and becomes brutal. Especially that goddamned Meat Circus.

Mass Effect 2

Yes, Bioware, Miranda and Jacob have fantastic asses, well done. If I'm interested, I'll investigate on my own time. Please do not thrust their buttocks into my face when I'm attempting to follow the exposition. I feel patronized when it's Miranda, and Jacob makes me question some things about myself.

I wish i had the PSP versions. It would be so easier to be occupied on long bus rides or just whenever I'm torn away from the good ol PS2.

Completely agreed. Oh well. If it wasn't for that I wouldn't have stumbled across the whole Dat Ass meme, which me and my friend Zach love to death. Along with "The Prizeeee". Obligatory awesome image.

Street Fighter:
Blanka. I understand that a skilled player should know how to fight every character in the roster, and that losing to players who use Blanka is really my own fault, but I find the character's fighting style so infuriating. Especially in SSFIV.

Final Fantasy:
Square seems to have gotten it into their heads that they need to change the battle system around to something completely different with every installment. I don't know if they're trying to ape WRPG styles of play or if it's something else, but it ain't working. The last FF game that did it right was X; stick with turn based, make leveling up more interesting and customizable, make weapons upgradeable, and don't be afraid to slip in the occasional mini-game. Apart from that, focus on the story. I think I'm right when I say JRPG players aren't looking for gameplay that follows the latest trends from their FF games; we just want a decent story and a battle system that isn't completely stupid.

Batman: Arkham Asylum:
The developers must have known gamers would want to poke around and find more of the Riddler's secrets after finishing the game. Otherwise, they wouldn't have allowed you to keep running around after the credits. So why in the name of all that's holy did they not respawn any enemies? Without random stray thugs to beat on and roomfuls of machinegun goons to take out strategically, exploring Arkham Island is boring.

The Disgaea games really do make for the perfect portable games. I've placed well over 650 hours on all the Disgaea I've played. It also helps that there's extra features on the PSP versions.
