If I were to adopt an African American baby girl, I would want to name her Jailah. Not sure why, but when I'm working on my fiction, this scenario of adopting a child tends to pop up for some reason and that she was a specific race and that I would raise her to be an awesome teen.

If I were to have a child in my own race, I would name the boy Jose or if it is a girl, Marietta.

While browsing this thread, Mara suddenly struck me as being a nice name for a girl. Though preferably I would like to give them a name that meant something to me, so that i'd have something interesting to tell them if they ever asked why I called them what I did.

I've already consulted with my other half, and if we're ever insane enough to have children, and it's a girl, we've decided her name will be Heloise. I mean, I'd probably just call her "Elly" except when cross with her, but yeah.

If we have a second girl, her name will probably be Noel. Undecided on male names at this time, but one way or the other our child isn't going to have some douchebag name of whimsy that we saw in a fictional work, or something we made up, or anything of the sort. Fortunately, I didn't have to convince my other of this.
