The more you think about what scene you're in, the less in that scene you are.

Kids try to hard nowadays.

I actually look a lot like the Indie Applefuck on the website. However I'm very anti-mac products. I don't like paying $3,000 extra for artsy bullshit.

I think I'm a weird hybrid. I try to be up with fashion (REAL fashion. not hipster blah) and pop-culture and have a love for stupid mainstream bullshit. But I have a love for comedy and politics and literature and cinema and gaming and all that nonsense.

I'd wear a dress over jeans anyday, but I cannot waaait for things like New Vegas or the next Bioshock. I could debate the hell out of you on gay rights and abortion issues.

Couldn't tell you what I am. A weirdo I guess.

I guess I would be a combination of Post Rocker and Generic Emo Boy. At least thats what I see myself as, other people might think differently.

-Converses
-Mood ring (known for it in school)
-Multiple mental issues (Bipolar, Schizophrenia, possible BPD, A.D.H.D)

Shocking, actually, but I'd probably go more for one of those hipsters that wants to be a hipster.

I'm probably closest to being a hipster (i think). I wear cardigans over brightly coloured t-shirts and a scarf in winter with hip top converse under jeans that aren't skinny (due to my thick, rugby players legs) but aren't baggy either and tuck behind the tongue. I also wear a lot of hats and have over ear headphones that I wear around the place. I listen mainly to indie/alternative and classic bands, my faves being REM, Jane's Addiction, the Beatles, The Replacements, the Pixies, Can, the Stones, Animal Collective, the XX etc...

it's just what i like and what i think makes me look halfway decent

Please note an entire lack of mention of the following genres: Classical, Baroque, Modernist Minimalism, Chamber Music, Orchestral, Choir, Capella.

So, today I found my way to http://yourscenesucks.com/. The site mockingly illustrates "scenes" as in, from my interpretation, different lifestyles, as defined by musical and fashion preferences. With little surprise I couldn't find my personal "scene".

You see, I don't listen to music that creates a "scene" I like soothing stuff, Jack Johnson Jeremy Messersmith, that kind of stuff but I mix in some more rock stuff too, Weezer, the Black Keys, that stuff. And my way or dress is different than what I've seen around school too, I tend to where iconic "nerdy" graphic tees (I have a power ranger one, a thunder cats one, and a star wars one) with plaid shirts over them and "slim straight" pants, as skinny jeans are a bit more than any male should bargain for. So I've named by scene SoftNerdcore, not much in the way of originality, but I like it.

So, now it's your turn, describe yourself and name your scene.

Also, as an after thought, since this is a gaming site, feel free to mention your preference in games too. I tend to lean toward RPG shooters, Fallout 3 and Mass Effect being my two favorite games.

EDIT: You don't have to force yourself into on the site I mentioned above, as I said I couldn't find anything and so I made my own up. That's kind of the point of this site, unless you find one you like on the site.
i promise that making assumptions about people based on the content gathered from that website might be the most ineffective way to gauge a person's interests or to find people that you can relate to.

I know a damn sexy Child Protective Services worker, 5'6" and 118 lb., who is the probably the most poshly dressed and well-spoken people I have met. But do you think you'll find her a wine-tasting, book-reading, or acoustic show?

Hell no, she gets trashed every weekend on beer and whiskey like the rest of us. She also is a monster in the mosh pit let me say.

websites like that hope to put things in a little box because then they trick you into thinking you have somehow developed by wearing the things they recommend. Fuck that website.

I'm rather smug with an over inflated sense of self importance and blind faith in my own opinions, hmmm... 'escapist scene'? Only joking.

I'm inclined to agree with 'Simulord' by the time any movement or culture reaches a 'what scene website' it has been shrink wrapped and absorbed by the culture industries. Sort of like the 25+ year evoloution/mutation/appropiation of the term "emo".

Upon viewing this website, its clear I'm aging before my time - I'm 19 and, even though I have a fair few friends who could classify themselves on that site, I seriously can't. I have a small goatee and a short, sober hair-do. I wear band t-shirts and jeans with trainers, occasionally crocs make an appearence. I listen to almost every type of music thrown my way, although my current favourite lies in Modern Jazz.

Dude, the site is called youscenesucks.com. It's either one giant joke or an attempt to kick out these stereotypes. It takes some sense of sarcasm to even venture onto the site. On another note, this topic is made to create your own scene, not to bottle yourself into one on the site. Infact your friend probably would have a great addition to this thread.
