Two days ago I was discussing something with a colleague and at a point in the conversation I was in need of a random name. I used "Henk" (Dutch for Hank), the same that has been my go to name for my "imaginary friend"[footnote]When jokingly talking about imaginary friends, I don't think I ever had an imaginary friend for real[/footnote] for 20+ years.

So, what do you guys call your imaginary friends, or what's your go to name for use in examples? Do you even have a go to name? Am I the only one who does this?[footnote]I know no one is ever the only one, this is a joke[/footnote]

I honestly don't have a clue where this name came from, I don't know any Henk's (and I'm sure I didn't know any when I was 14 and started using it.)

I deliberately try to mix it up otherwise I start getting my analogies confuzzled.

You know I don't think I ever had an imaginary friend growing up. I had a teddy bear called Sandy. Does that count?

I sometimes use Clyde, the name Garfield gave to his imaginary friend. Or Bob, Bob is good, nice and simple.

Ninja!! I use Bob a lot too. If not I like to make it sound as over the top as possible, something like Sir William Jeremy Fornsworth the fourth.....

The name of the imaginary friend (a father figure) I've had since early childhood was, in all creativity, John. When I was younger, John just sounded like an older mans name, so I went with it. As for names I can use right up out of nowhere, chief among them are Baratus and Parias. Both are names I think sound great, and they're from a childhood favourite video game of mine, Hexen. I can give either of those two names to pretty much anything.

I call mine "The Boss". He likes to tell me what to do, sometimes good things, sometimes bad things. Don't always listen to him though.

Mine was called Carmine because I was devastated at Carmine's death in the first Gears of War...

Erm, none. I never used names, not even sure why should I. Although, I did have a plush mouse I called Jerry, I don't know if that counts.

I don't remember it, but I was told by my family on one occasion that when I was real young, like between 3 and 5, I had one named Momo-Free and one called Gree-Bee.

My brother had one that he used as a scapegoat, whenever he did something wrong when he was young, he would say that Sander did it.

The funny thing is that a few years later at a movie theater, my mom heard a woman call out "Sander!" and a little redheaded boy ran up to the woman. So apparently my brother had a grounded name for his imaginary friend. Granted that I have never heard of anybody else called Sander since then.

Sander is a reasonably common name here in the Netherlands (at least two national radio DJs with that first name), so possibly your brother had a Dutch imaginary friend... And the Dutch are all trouble, it is known...

I only use it when i need to get out of something (weither that be something i don't want to do or avoid punishment for something i did)

Not a go to name though, just the first thing that i think off

I never knew that. Hmm, the things I can learn each day. My brother had a troubled Dutch boy as his imaginary friend, while mine were faceless creatures.

Though now looking back, I remember that for a boy, I had an ungodly number of stuffed animals, that I talked with and such. Though that could be that I was a very sheltered kid. From elementary to early high school, I must have only got to go over to friends' houses maybe dozen times at the most. I never actually got to go out and hang out with friends until around my junior year of high school, and that was because I finally had a car. My friends from high school lived about 45 minutes away from me, the equivalent of around 2 to 3 towns away from me.
