In boilogy I sit a bit futher away from my friends so I have to mime things to them. I was miming to one of my friends that our fat friend takes marmaduke the "abnormaly large dog" out of his jumper. This joke evolved into the fat friend doing male bats and that he owns a "bat sanctuary" which is just a place for his wierd hobby (brings new meaning to the terms "Batman" and "Bat utility belt"). When he is doing the bats, they try to get away and they say "SKREEE, SKREEE!

Well anyway, just thinking, why don't we take the days from each month that happen after the 28th and collect them into a new month. this would improve organisation for the original months, as each would have 28 days.
This new month would take place inbetween september and october, as not to interfer with new years or summer.

How do you feel about this new month and perhaps what should it be called?

A new month? a 13th month eh? I recall one mentioned in a Simpsons episode called 'Smarch' - not seen it for a while but it made me chuckle so gotta be worth a mention

named after a god like all the others, maybe fsmday
That's weekdays, not months (unless Julius and Augustus Caesar were actually gods).

OT: Um... maybe we could just name it like all the rest and chuck a numerical prefix on. That would make it... Sextember. Yes, that will do nicely.

The seasons would be skewed a bit, and I doubt it could be installed so easily...
Seasons aren't universal in length or number across the planet.

12 month system provides non-prime factors of 2, 3, 4 and 6. Which means that any place on the planet can easily demarcate their seasons as long as they don't have 5 or greater than six (and lets be honest; no place on the planet has 6 distinct seasons though some places only have 1).

Most locations on the planet (by area) have two distinct seasons; some with 3 seasons.
The 'D' climates (based on Koppen's Classifications) are almost entirely confined to the northern mid-latitudes. Those are the climates with the traditionally recognized four seasons.

13 on the other hand, is prime. Imagine the sheer annoyance of the world over if we added another month! Nobody would be able to easily (and often arbitrarily) demarcate the season based on the month! This change could lead to the collapse of society itself!

...Well, at least there would be something else to grumble about at the water cooler.

EDIT: Disregard this post. I actually read the original post and realised that I am a complete and utter tool.

Just thought of another month made up and used on TV. It was in Chris Morris' Jam and on the 'Blue Jam' CD:

Martober

Can't remember the context/sketch

Well, January, March, May and June were all named after Roman Gods, so therefore more months were named after gods than Roman leaders.
January is actually from the Latin word for door, I believe, although my teacher could easily have been lying to me on that point (and it's been a while since high school Latin, so I may be a bit off). Regardless, the majority of months are named for things OTHER than gods either way.
