January is actually from the Latin word for door, I believe, although my teacher could easily have been lying to me on that point (and it's been a while since high school Latin, so I may be a bit off). Regardless, the majority of months are named for things OTHER than gods either way.
I was always under the impression that January was named after the God Janus, which had two faces, one looking back at the previous year and one looking forward into the next one. Although, like you, it is very possible my teacher was lying to me.

named after a god like all the others, maybe fsmday
That's weekdays, not months (unless Julius and Augustus Caesar were actually gods).

OT: Um... maybe we could just name it like all the rest and chuck a numerical prefix on. That would make it... Sextember. Yes, that will do nicely.
Well, January, March, May and June were all named after Roman Gods, so therefore more months were named after gods than Roman leaders.

January comes from the Roman god Janus, who was the god of doors, lord knows why. January is named after him because of the beginning of a new year, or the opening of a new door.

Also, I realised my mistake and edited my original post.

Since months and days have a habit of being named after religious gods i think we should take that in a new direction and name anything new that's added to the calendar after musical legends.

I say 'Rocktober' or 'Toyotathon'.
These made me chortle, especially 'Toyotathon'. Really speaks to the effectiveness of those ads.

I'm going to go with Dreaduary.

In boilogy I sit a bit futher away from my friends so I have to mime things to them. I was miming to one of my friends that our fat friend takes marmaduke the "abnormaly large dog" out of his jumper. This joke evolved into the fat friend doing male bats and that he owns a "bat sanctuary" which is just a place for his wierd hobby (brings new meaning to the terms "Batman" and "Bat utility belt"). When he is doing the bats, they try to get away and they say "SKREEE, SKREEE!
WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS FOR?! SURELY I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WONDERING THIS!

Finally, someone noticed. thank you

Anyhow, my vote goes for Shmoctember, just to make everyone saying it feel like a douche.
It is relevance in its most pure form.

I would have to go with Xena-tober. She didn't get the planet, the least she deserves is a month.

I just rolled my fist along the keyboard to make that.

The one who can find out how to properly pronounce it gets a cookie.

Friend... ust.

It's a month where every one has to be really, really nice to each other.
Hug-uary! A whole month of hugs!

Or I could steal from Dr. Seuss, and suggest we call it 'Octember'

I'm not even going to ask about the fat kid in biology lessons. There may have been a point, but I'm not sure what it was.
