Fagballs!
or any from a list of:
Cock
Gay
Prick
Paddington Bear
Hugh G Rection
Captain Effeminate

There is fun to be had in immaturity, that and I get to laugh like a tard every time I open the character screen.
The one serious name I have is Arcalis, named after a mountain in France that I like the sound of.

I like to give my characters sexy names.

For example, my WoW character names include Empyrrean (death knight), Abditus (mage, but it suits a rogue better), Absolution (paladin), Tamino (hunter), Obseqium (priest), Obsequium (warlock), etc.
If I make a warrior, I'll call it Empyrean.

If you're wondering what a few of these names mean:
Abditus = unseen (fitting for a rogue)
Obseqium = obedience (fitting for a priest or warlock, as warlocks dominate their demon pets into obedience and priests obviously obey some sort of deity)

I only bothered to look up what the word abditus meant after I reached about level 60 on my mage, so my mistake.

In Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance, I name my ACU "Lord Empyrrean" so it ends up with the name "CDR Lord Empyrrean". Doesn't "Commander Lord" (or the other way around) sound like a bad-ass military rank? :p
I also name my strategic (i.e. nuclear) missile launchers things like "Plan B", "Mark I", Mark II", "Apocalypse I", "Apocalypse II", "Absolution", etc. The last example of this was when I constructed four strategic missile silos in a basic triangular pattern along with adjacent power plants and such and then renamed the missile silos to "Mark I", "Mark II", "Mark III", etc. I'll also give them such names even if I end up constructing them in different positions throughout the base or even throughout the whole map. I only ever give custom names to the important units/structures though, like my ACU, my strategic missile launchers and such.
I love that Supreme Commander lets you give custom names to any of your units and structures while in-game on the fly, despite being an RTS. Awesome.

I almost always play male characters (a habit I want to break), so I usually go with my name, Emmanuel. In all other cases, it's Byrn.

It must be really interesting to play games with you LOL :D

I just use alias's that I use on a constant basis.. regardless of gender.

If you see a snowfox in your game.. It could quite possibly be me!
You play WoW/use the forums?

OT:
Creative naming is one of my favorite parts of RPGs. I love coming up with absurdly Fantastic names. Then I get to figure out how to spell them!
It's always based on what I like the sound of; although I have been known to check it against the greek or latin to search for meanings.

My name, usually. Except KOTOR 2. In kOTOR 2 we were Wu-Tang. May have to become my new habit.

But For now, its 'Brian'. Simple, solid, and reminds me of my favorite person in the world.

I forgot that in Twilight Princess, I named the horse (default: Epona) "That Ass". So people were saying "hop on That Ass" or "take care of That Ass"

I usually use Pvt. Ryan which I know is so original, or Muad'Dib which is a bit more obscure for the males.

For female characters it really depends.

I named my Xbox Live Gamertag after a really stupid DOS game, but I usually choose some kind of name that will sound really funny when other characters talk about you

Farty.

Farty Shepard. Farty, the vault dweller. Farty the pokemon master. Farty, the Earth Adept on a quest to light the four elemental lighthouses.

Though my current online-gaming handle is General Gaygoats.

Always a female character. If this is not an option, I pick the default name. My female characters I name very much depending on what the character's role is.. Though if the default name fits well I might use that anyways. For ME2 I had "Eve", because I just like the name!

But when playing something more fantasy...ish.. I prefer things like Phyreshi (which I blatantly stole from Neverwinter Nights).

I wanted my RPG character to sound vaguely french but similar to my own name (David) so I decided on "Duvet Cover" as a name.
