Yes, it's that time of year again where people around the globe will be participating in the fantastic National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) event at the beginning of November. People everywhere are coming up with ideas for their next literary masterpiece and preparing for the challenge that awaits them. First-timers (like myself) are excited to be taking part while simultaneously worrying whether or not they'll be able to finish in time, being daunted by the challenge ahead but ready to embrace it all the same.

So fellow Escapists, are you taking part this year?

Alternatively, if you've never heard of NaNoWriMo before please follow this link. [http://www.nanowrimo.org/]

I'll be participating. I don't know what my novel is going to be about yet, but I'm doing it. Good luck to you, my friend.

Sounds interesting. Might give it a go, although university work makes it difficult to take on too much at the moment.

Sounds interesting, though I probably won't be taking part.

I get enough of writing when in school and it's not something I find very enjoyable.

Actual reaction: "Oh GOD DAMNIT! Fiiiine..."

I have been putting off writing my next novel despite getting an earful from my family about it. Now I have even less excuse to put it off. God damnit, fine! I'll write a short story or two over the next 40 days.

If I can get enough motivation then I'll give it a go. I heard about it last year but I got snowed under with class work before I could start it.
Might have to put some other projects on hold but thats easy enough.

I was going to, but my art, video, and flash classes have decided to eat up all my time. Granted, it shouldn't be that bad, considering we're nearing the end of the semester, but still. I just don't think I'll have the time. Or the ambition, for that matter.

"No plot? No problem!"

Aaanyway, no, I won't be participating. First, because I don't really care about it that much. Second, while I could write up 50,000 words by adhering to their set rules that it can be as badly-written, as long as it's 50,000 words long, I'm kind of a slow writer, and like to take my time with my writing. And third, I already am writing a novel (purely out of my own choice), so I don't want to spend time writing some other novel instead.

And, like I said, if I did, I'd just write some absolute shit to get to 50,000 words in a month, and the idea doesn't sounds that appealing.

I won't be participating. I couldn't deliver 50,000 words in the time limit they require, because I write quite slowly and perfectionistically. If I was to just give that up in order to hit the time limit it would be a waste of my own time.
