Ok I don't know if this has been done or not (sorry if it has) but! My fellow Escapists do you think its a good idea to be makeing motion based systems/console/games?This is only my 4th thread so please go easy on me...(n_n)

Me personaly I think its bad because the control is more stressful than relaxing when playing the Wii. In my case Residant Evil 4, and Metriod Prime 3:Corruption.

I won't ***** at you because its an early thread.

Honestly, I think its a load of unnecessary bullshit.

Then again, Natal will probably be fun drunk. The wii was

I think Natal would be AMAZING for things such as, in RPGS or any game that allows you to create a character, it could scan you or a picture of, say, your favourite actor, and then replicate that person as your character (so I could finally make my Mass Effect character look like The Doctor. *cough*) You could also pronounce a name for your character, and have NPCs learn your name. Or, say, during dialogue in Fallout 3:

NPC: What brings you here?
You: I'm looking for my dad. Have you seen him?

And certain words, such as 'looking' and 'dad' would trigger that reply. Of course, that'd be very hard to utilize, what with languages, and people being silly and all.

As for the Wii, I think they've got a great thing going for the balance board and motion plus, but not enough 'smart technology' to make it as effective and immersive as it could be. Can't say much about PS3, having never tried it.

I think they're all just ahead of their time, though. We still haven't fixed fundamental issues, like frame rates, saves, and loading screens.

Eh I don't mind motion sensing as long as the hard ware works. Some Wii games work pretty well (Metroid Prime 3 did for me, no clue about RE4 though). One thing I greatly dislike though is forced motion sensing. It just feels like a gimmick and is many a game killer for me.

I can't say I'm too thrilled with it. I can't see many devs handling it properly, instead making a typical games with some motion sensor gimmick tacked on at the end.

Actually RE4 worked pretty well. Movement was handled with the analog stick while aiming was done with the Wiimote. Flip up to reload, and sideways to knife.

These new Natal things and it's counterparts will be the hardest kick to realisms balls since the quicktime event.

Who is censoring my motion? I can move any damn way I please, thank you!

Oh... you meant motion sensors... I see, a common misunderstanding. I think that they will make a nice peripheral for their own purpose. Much like the instrument peripherals for Rock Band and Guitar Hero.

Touche, but at least that's fun to watch. I can't imagine Milo (I think thats his name) will be fun to watch for more than two seconds, unless you can blow him up too. I wonder if [i/]HE[/i] has ragdoll physics...

motion sensors are like plastic surgery. they are horrible now because no one has perfected it, but when it is perfected it will be glorious.

I though plastic surgery was perfected o_O

Um, anyway. I think as far as innovation goes it is brilliant but motion sensing (especially in the Natal- which is promising a lot) should be a gradual introduction and implementation. I just get the feeling that Microsoft is biting off more than they can chew...again!.

Brisbane and Sydney, yes been there...and while it is a tribute to Silicone Vally and Collagen avenue I didn't see anything that made me think of a malpractice lawsuit but perhaps I wasn't looking hard enough.
