People just hate everything here I guess.

Neither name strikes me as particularly catchy but I guess it gets the job done.

They could call it 'Super Ultra Mega Best Thing Ever' and I still wouldn't buy it.
What if they called it, "The product formerly known as natal"? And just had a symbol for it?

I would still not buy it, but would shout out loud that Purple Rain, Rasberry Beret and the Batman soundtrack were far better than anything off 'Emancipation'.

£102?? That's almost as much as the actual 360 console, they can't be serious.

And why bother advertising it as Project Natal at the gaming conventions etc if you're just going to call it Wave?

Whats the deal with oversimplifying the names of everything nowadays.

When I was a child stuff had complicated names and we didn't complain, it was all high concept stuff but the names where strange, now everything is monosyllabalic.

So we have the Playstation Move and the Xbox Wave.

So move, wave, then pee?

I GET IT NOW, THEY PLANNED THIS!
Hold on, i have a perfectly good floor I can roll around on.

Hold on a minute. Let me see if I understand this. You move around so the cameras can start capturing your movements, then you wave your arms around to start playing the game, which leads to you peeing? Man, if that happened to anyone they should get their bladder checked.

Eew.

Childishness a time, I was under the assumption that Natal would be it's proper name, but wave is much better.
Ah, hahaha! good one!

couldn't have thought that up better myself.

Ladies and Gentlemen, proof that Microsoft wishes they were Google.

Not satisfied with just competing, they are now ripping off their product names too.

I thought it was being called Natal?
Huh.

I wasn't going to buy it regardless of its name, so whatever.

Yeah, naming something the "iPad" was a stroke of marketing genius.

Yeah, the wave is much dumber than ipad

Honestly, what's wrong with wave? At least it doesn't sound like pissing (wii) or a feminine hygiene product (ipad)

what would be a better name?

EDIT: I think this product is idiotic and useless, but the name isn't a problem in my opinion.
Not genius as such, but it works a lot better than wave does.

Ipad, while the butt of many jokes, still doesn't dissuade people from buying the product. and the ipad is also just one example of a product named badly. They had to name it something to fit in with their I branding.

Wave already is the name of many products, some of which are rather popular. And is generally just boring and annoying.

Note that I rather dislike apple products, in fact I have never owned anything from apple. But their marketing is a hell of a lot better than microsofts. (See any windows ads ever).

I'll still call it Natal just to blow MS minds.

Wave sounds a bit weak for a title, but they are selling it to familes and casual gamers so no need for a cool italian name like Scaglietti or Panamera.

I'm just not into this sudden wave of motion control shit, at all. I'll hold my judgments until/if I try Wave or Move out, but I doubt that'll happen.

You mean, adding the letter "i" before the name of the device? This isn't a troll exactly, but we have the iMac (the cheaper end of the desktop market), the iPod (which is so ubiquitous as to be the name given to all MP3 players), the iPhone (apple's phone) and the iPad (being the new tablet). Sure, their TV spots are entertaining but for the flagship products microsoft pushes, there hasn't been an explicit need to actually market - they already have all the mindshare they need with windows, the PC in general, the 360, Office and so forth.

There never has been a game that has convinced me the technology is something I actually want to use. In every game I've played on the Wii, if there was a way around the motion controls, I was perfectly willing to take it. I don't expect Microsoft or Sony's effort will change my mind since we will likely see nothing more than a retread of the wildy successful (yet utterly uninteresting to me) ideas Nintendo has already tried, at least for the the first year or so. It's possible someone will do something really cool with the technology but I'm not even convinced that something will be a game.
