The best part of it was the Goofy cartoon at the beginning about setting up a home-theater system. That said, the movie was not without its merit. The movie has plenty of crazy factoids about history, trips across the globe, and everything that was in the first one, but with less urgency. I'm not professional critic, but I guess if I had to give it a score, I'd say 7. A passable and moderately enjoyable use of my time, but there are other things that I could have done with those 2 and a half hours. If you go see it, pay matinee prices.

5 bucks because I'm visiting my hole in the wall hometown. Definitely enjoyed it, but agree that it wasn't as urgent feeling as the first one. I think mostly because the "villain" didn't start threatening anyone until fairly late in the film. Plus, *SEMI-SPOILER* after the FBI come after Gates, they really don't develop it at all. One short tense moment, and the FBI almost never show up again. How the heck does someone get away in DC like that? Preposterous.

Also, it is my understanding that those vehicle barricades are hydraulic, and very, very fast, to the point where they would throw a car into the air, if said car were on top of them when they went off. That slow rising crap was a little weird.

The Goofy cartoon caught me and people I was with a little off guard, but we really enjoyed it. Personally, the way Goofy loved that TV speaks to how much I love mine, and how precious my universal remote is. I don't know where the hell it came from, or why they put it on this movie, but it was fun. Still a bit of a "wtf?"

National Treasure = National Treasure 2. The only difference is the substitution of different names and dates. The movies have the same twists, character development, and even the same endings. Nicolas Cage finds clue, gets chased by bad guy not wanting to find the treasure for himself but to steal it, government also chases Cage throughout movie, Cage finds treasure and gives it all back to society and is pardoned by the government and the bad guy is taken care of. The goofy cartoon at the beginning topped the 90+ minutes following it.

Hmm, that does sorta kill my desire to see it, but then again, I rather loved the original National Treasure--it was the DaVinchi Code in America, basically, and the fact that it was more enjoyable than the actual DaVinchi Code movie is rather telling.

I'll prolly see it, but Sweeny Todd and Charlie Wilson's War come first on my priorities.

Saw this on Christmas because my dad saw No Country For Old Men with me on Thanksgiving and I owed him one. Don't understand the attraction.

Yes, National Treasure did quite suck the big one.

I actually paid to see it as well.

It was entertaining! Sure, it's not making anyone's top tens, but it didn't suck. It had a car chase, a fake british accent, and a man in a bunny costume. What more could you want? Good acting or writing? Psh.

I figured that by the end of the last film, the protagonist had found enough treasure to buy Amsterdam. How do they explain this new need for going after treasure with a mind that would make any Roswell theorist gawk in disgust at?

Gates is going to 'restore his family's name' and Riley is going because he committed tax fraud. The chick is going because... well, she doesn't need a motive, she's blonde.

I saw the movie...and enjoyed it. I just dont understand why all of the biggest treasures all have to be hidden in the US. I mean, the world is a big place, and everyone seems to want to hid their goodies in the same damn spot. Also, the Goofy thing at the beginning really threw me off. I started to think I was in the wrong theatre. It was like ten minutes long!

That you say this makes me think you weren't really paying attention.

To answer your questions, just look at who distributed it: Disney.

I enjoyed it, the problem was they stuck three I'm gonna (insert unthinkable thing here) in it. It obviously wasn't as good as the first because Nt1 wasn't really sequal-able but they did a good job, not great, but good.

Yeah, once you uncover billions in gold and such you don't really have any movie-worthy conflicts after that. Unless they are able to turn dividing the loot into a 2 hour action packed Hollywood blockbuster.

The disney cartoon really pissed me off. That type of thing is great if you're seeing a kids movie, but utterly not accepted whatsoever if not.

The movie didn't start until 19 minutes into it. I honestly planned on complaining afterwards but somehow restrained myself...

I'm kind of confused. Is this a new movie, or are we talking about the one that came out a while ago (maybe a different country, or something)? I don't remember any cartoon intro to it, so did I see a different movie?

It did come out in the U.S a couple years ago, or is this something different?
