Survival of the Fittest doesn't mean 'fit in x' criteria at all.

It's to do with the potential to adapt to a new environment and survive (and thrive) in it. The normal 'nerd' has about as much chance to survive the zombie apocalypse as I do of sleeping with my flatmate tonight.

Yes thats true but whose to say a physically fit individual has a higher probability of survival than that of a less fit person.For example, whilst a fit person may be a fast runner h/she may have no sure notion of how to plan.That person would therefore succumb to starvation or diesese if he survives the zombies.I beleive the fittest would be the people with the proper skills for that situation, such as a fast runner in hunting and a good planner in an apocalypse.
Also, I never called anyone a 'nerd'.I prefer not to give anyone a deregetory name for his or her intrests.

Hahaha your all going to die, I'm in brilliant shape, fast, strong, highly active, and have a thought out zombie plan and I reckon I'd die in under a few days so what chance do the fat unhealthy people have.

The smart option is to become a zombie, a fit strong zombie who can then eat lots of tasty humans.

You do realize that fittest doesn't nececerily mean fastest and strongest right? but those most fit to handle the given situation. hence the fittest would be those best suited, both physically and inteelectually, to handle the zombie apocalypse.

You hopefully also realize that you're prolly not able to do all those things the characters you controll in games do, unless you're physically fit (and in some cases, haev superpowers)
I would never be stupid enough to think, that just cause i've played a lot of FPS, i'm some sort of marksman iwth guns.

The fact that i've played zombie games doesn't give me mad skills with a baseball bat or a chainsaw IRL.

hoestly i think the big trained guy who knows how to swing a bat would learn that he had to hit their face faster, than i would be able to learn how to swing the bat proberbly. (well i can swing a bat but this was just an example)

The fittest would prolly be the military, they're used to handle hostiles with tanks guns and explosives, so a bunch of zombies shouldn't be a big problem for them.

Assuming there was a nuclear/zombie/raptor apocalypse, you'd assume Mother Nature would intend for the fittest, most healthy humans to survive, right?
But that's not what's going to happen. We, the unfit, unskilled video-game nerds are going to live through it, while all the olympic athletes and manly muscle-men get eaten/vaporized/infected. That's all because we are the ones who plan for this sort of situation, whereas the healthy athletic people are busy doing other things, like exercising and populating the planet.
So, "Survival of the Fittest" isn't exactly going to work this time round. You know you've screwed up your planet when the wrong group of people survive the end of it.

Pretty sure Survival of the Fittest is not to do with who conforms to whatever physical or mental criterium you put on it, but more to do with who can adapt to the new environment the fastest and most efficiently.

Also I call into question the validity of the claim that nerds have a plan. They have an internet plan. Theory and practise are two very different things. Maybe one or two people who have these so-called plans on the Escapist pull them off without a hitch and don't die in the initial wave of nuclear/zombies/velociraptors.

Aaaand this ends the discussion. Just because nerds might know that they should be doing, their feeble and weak bodies won't allow them to become the real world example of their Fallout character.

And as for the entire "Female nerds are rare" This may be true, but I would be fine, I already bagged myself one.
As for a zombie apocalypse? Well, as nerds, we know the rules. Knives don't need reloading, always go for the head, double tap, you name it, we know it.
Those copies of the Zombie Survival Guide will eventually come in handy.

Oh, and one last thing. Difference between Nerd and Gamer. Nerds (Like me) include people who can build an electric generator out of some copper wire, a magnet or two and a bike. Gamers (Like lots of people) can play Halo.
So nerds are more fitted to the *GENERIC APOCALYPSE* as long as we have some gamers guarding us.

Yes, because it's likely that there will be either a raptor, zombie, or nuclear apocalypse. Most likely is nuclear, in which case, EVERYONE will die.
