Have you ever had a moment in your life where you were extremely close to dying? How many?

I've had several. The scariest one was when I was skiing and I was looking back at my dad while going down a double black. I barely saw the cliff in time and came to a screeching halt right at the edge of it.

I damn near shat my pants.

I have had more than a few people try to kill me. It is scary shit when someone has their hands around your throat.

I was 10 years old and climbing in some huge oak with some friends. When I were about to go down one of them sat in the way, so I decided to jump to a nerby branch and take that route down instead.
Needless to say the branch broke off and I fell. I must've been at least five meters up, but I hit several branches on my way down that I suppose broke my fall. Landed and smashed my knee against a rock.

Was quite awesome when I fell though. My body went into shock and I could see myself fall from above. It was just an imagination, but it felt really relaxing.

Other than that I once got caught in an ocean current(I believe that's the word) and had to fight for my life to get back to shore.

I was almost hit by a car going about 8km/h once. I was sobbing the rest of the way home, but I was only about 10.

Yeah. That's all I got. I'm a pretty cautious person.

I cannot recall any moments like that, I'm pretty lucky when it comes to stuff like that.

I got sucked under a water slide once, and then I had to have two people come rescue me, because the current was so strong.

Just this past summer I was an "Electrician's Helper" not really a formal title, but whatever. In any case we were gutting out a medical clinic and removing all dead circuits and fixtures. According to the plans the circuit I was working on was dead...It wasn't, but I nearly was.

I think I can still see the flash burned into my retinas.

I was drunk and was standing on top of this 30ft wall. I kept thinking "Well, I'm going to die. Goodbye everyone.".. I haven't fallen that day, but I sure as hell don't want to repeat that experience.

Getting swept away by a river once, hit by a car a bunch of times, knifed once, fell off the roof of the house (around 40 feet, it's a big house) once. Got better every time.

I don't seem to be good at staying safe or dying. Odd, that.

I've only had one. Stepped out into the road while listening to loud music and got a car's radiator grill slamming into my side. I rolled straight over the top of the car and smashed into the pavement. Weirdly I was able to stand up and stagger over the driver's side door of the car as it stopped to ask if he was okay before collapsing in the road.

When I was ten, me and a friend were riding bikes down a hill. At the end of the hill theres a big cliff. When I went down, my brakes failed. Had to bail into my friend to stop myself.

Uh, well i'd better list the number and types and only describe the few interesting ones, otherwise this may be lengthy.

Total 'almosts': 13

Drowed: 2
Hit by a car: 4
Animal attack: 1
Explosion: 1
Defending a friend: 2
Fell off a cliff: 1
Car accident: 2

The first time i almost drowned was in a river not too far out of town, i was working on a friends farm for the day and fell into the river, it was very deep and had a very fast current with near vertial river banks, i was only saved by the small tree growing out of the bank that i could cling to until my friend went and got help. The second time i fell into a bathtub, hit my head and woke up under water, then struggling to pull my head above it just before coughing up what felt like my body weight in water.

I'mm somewhat fearless (reckless) when it comes to crossing the road, i have little fear of cars so from this i've had my fair share of near misses, the four counted are only so because they were by a meager few inches, one of them actuall catching the back of my shoe under a wheel.

I was attacked by a wild dog when we were at my uncles farm for christmas, it had a hold of me by the knee, while on the ground i took out my pocket knife and stabbed it in what i assume was it's throat, it ran off, i dressed my wound in the shed and refused to tell my family about it, just wearing long pants for the rest of the trip because i was afraid we'd never come back to the farm again if they knew. It healed up very nicely actually, you can't even tell i was bitten there these days, besides a few tiny scars. (To this day i have an affinity with knives and most never can be found without one.)

When we moved to the coast i was rather fond of bush walking, so i'd go out alone or with a friend, and on one particular day i found a nice rock face that over looked a small section of housing that was being built, so i decided to have a rest and some lunch while i was up there, after i had gotten a good drink in and some food i heard the little lump of dry grass just next to me start to hiss, and there i was, face to face with a red belly black snake. Having only learnt about his snake just before school went out on break, i may have freaked out and ended up having to pull myself back up the side of the rocks as, in my haste to get away from the snake, i forgot what direction the cliff was and where it was safe to run to, to say the least i GTFO'd pretty quickly.

Other than the explosion (Dynamite, uncles farm) the rest are pretty standard, run of the mill kind of stuff.

I crashed a quadbike into a tree at about 40mph... Woke up in hospital the next day in more or less, a full body cast.

I almost died in a fire when I was an infant (too young to remember). My parents always like to tell the story about how Grandma almost burned down the cottage with me inside it :D.

Lets see... That's about it I believe. I've seriously injured myself a few times, via biking accidents (wear your helmets kids! I actually cracked one open in an accident once, glad it was my helmet and not my head :D), taking a wrong turn while skiing, flipping riding lawnmowers while cutting precariously steep hills, falling out of trees, non-fatal electrocution (Yay for experimenting with Tesla Coils during my high school years!)... Ultimately though I was never really fearing for my life during any of these moments, usually because they happened so suddenly. I'm just glad I didn't get my arm caught in a wood splitter like my friend >_>.

On the other side though, there was this one time where I DID feel like my life was in danger, but I was actually in relatively (sure, it was bad, but not that bad) good condition. I was in the hospital over the summer because they (the Doctors currently working in the emergency ward) were worried about me hemorrhaging (in my brain; fatally) in my sleep. After staying and being monitored in the hospital for a few nights, I get a visit from a hematology specialist who tells me I was in no real danger at all. Although I did end up with a blood condition (which I still have), it was(is) no wheres near as bad as that.

Just 1 and it was pretty lame too.

When I was young I had very sever tonsillitus. It I had it something like 8 times in 7 months. ANyway, this also caused me to have other problems. One of them was a very randon body temp. I think they recorded at the highest 40-41 degrees centigrade. I nearly cooked myself to death.

Not that awesome but that's what I had.

Not sure if 'near death' qualifies, but once as I rode my bycycle, a redback spider crawled out from the inside of the handlebars onto my hand. I was not thinking straight, so I kind of whacked it against a streetpole as I rode past. Hurt my hand, but no bruise and no ohgodpoisonpain.
