so im making a monk with 5thED rules and I want to follow bahamut, that said we have a CE tiefling in our party who plans on doing some rather evil things now my DM is worried ,as am I, that my character and his may have to do a death battle at some point. Now here the point of the matter the majority of our group supports the other guy more then me or the DM. Is there a way I can avoid having to fight him on this or changing my deity? he worships talona btw and wont change it again after we convinced him not to chose tiamat.

It sounds like you're dealing with "That Guy".

The best way to deal with "That Guy" is to have a DM who can shut down his "That Guy"-ness; however, it sounds like your DM isn't willing to challenge him due to his popularity in the group.

Who fits in more? If the rest of the party are Paladins and Clerics, and then in walks Mr. Necromancer and his blaphemous mints, then he is the guy who doesn't fit in and should change. However, from what you've written, I'm guessing most of the group have moved to suit his character, in which case, tough titties, you have to change your character.

If you cannot resolve this, and refuse to change your character, or he refuses to change his, then either you need to bow out or the DM needs to kick him out. Roleplaying shouldn't be a fucking chore, and there is nothing worse than gaming with an arsehole.

Don't make a party, unless you're very experienced, that will eventually end up with guns in each others faces because it takes some good roleplaying to figure out why you don't do it in the first session.

TLDR: Your DM needs to either put his foot down, you need to change your character, or you decide to leave for another group.

its more the guy in question is more personable then me or the DM. His character doesn't really conflict with anybody but me and vice versa as the majority of the party went neutral. Also as if this wasn't problem enough the amount of people in my area who play are very limited so finding another group would be hard and kicking him would mean we would lose at least 2 more people. I offered to change my characters deity to something else this morning but now my DM is taking this as a personal challenge and wont let me. So Im writing this now as sort of a hail mary I hopes someone on here has a way for use to co exist? I have the DM's ear so if theres a way a servant of bahamut can work with a evil character in a story sense I may be able to work this out.

Could you be an undercover monk who pretends to be cool with it all, but you're actually going to grass to Bahamut at a later date?

Or maybe a pacifist monk who's all, like, 'That's just your opinion, man'?

Maybe you love him and are planning to turn him to the good side using your sexy monk wiles?

I think there's lots of ways you could play this. Maybe just slit his (character's) throat in the night?
lol well the current idea my DM has is to give me bahamuts blessing and just let me beat the ever living shit out of his character till he repents but I think that may just break the group up, as funny as it would be.

Just try to find reasons not to fight him. May be annoying in character but it would be worth it for the peace OOC.

Yeah, it sounds great, but if your DM cannot confront a player being an ass, then this spells bad news down the line. Tell your DM to nut up.

....not always that simple, sometimes you have to compromise in order to keep the group together.

Also good to note that the DM was more then willing to "nut up" as you put it but we both wanted to avoid drama.

What if the DM created overwhelming moral conflicts with NPC's and made the in-game world react to his evil deeds? I mean, he can't exactly expect to get away with murder all the time.

Not to mention, you say he's a CE character? And he wants to join a party?... yeah, no, that doesn't strike me as anything even remotely plausible. Chaotic characters are unpredictable and spontaneous, evil characters actively seek to harm or destroy others. A chaotic evil character is basically a "kill everyone!" kind of character as far as I'm aware. Not exactly the type to go on adventures with friends.

Demons are chaotic evil, they attack just about anyone, including each other. CE = not a team player.

Edit:
Didn't notice you had resolved the issue :p

lol its all good but to answer your question on why he wanted a party, he didn't he just thought of the rest of us as minions and meat shields.
