I'm lousy at coming up with ideas. What I need is a nutshell idea for a short film, that goes for about 7-10 minutes. I want to do something in the thriller/horror area. I can do the rest, all I need is a basic storyline, not overly complicated, but not simple either, with some sort of epic twist at the end. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated ^_^

The Lottery would take about 7-10 minutes to tell in a short film. To make it unique, maybe change the setting to the future/post-apocalyptic or something, I dunno. It would definitely fit your criteria of a basic storyline with a good twist.

A man wandering around a deserted house trying to figure out who killed his wife. He is armed with a crowbar and a flashlight. As for the twist at the end I would have had the wife commit suicide.
Make sure to have good atmosphere, and creating sympathy for the main character is super important in this.

Also, I know King offers the rights to various shorts for the paltry fee of one dollar! That'd be a good place to look.
