Anyhow just generally, seriously there is nothing recent worth checking out? I've seen Team Fortress 2 a couple of times and that seems pretty cool so I'd like to ask does it fit into what I've already put up and is it easy to get into? (Also probably if I was to buy it then it would be on it's own because I would probably be scared shitless of HF2 and portal didn't really appeal to me.)
Oh Team Fortress 2 is definitely worth getting. The problem is that it lightly won't run very well on a low end PC and its not as great on the consoles.

I have orange box for my 360. They're incredible games but Team Fortress 2 has problems that I think the PS3 also suffers from:

-The worst lag I have ever seen.
-No updates (while theres a small chance the 360 may get updates about the time Duke Nukem is released valve has said they will not update the PS3.)
-Crappy community. Its not that they're arseholes, theres just very few of them, plus they never use mics, which is almost vital for TF2 sometimes.
I probably could put it on the gaming PC I'm on now or the Vista computer which was meant to be mine once it all got here but these last few weeks have made me hate Vista, the connection is strong but shits itself every week or so for a few hours, as for the community all I need to know really is whether or not I will have my balls handed to me on a plate because I can go solo if necessary.

That and it doesn't require more money then just the cost of the game right?

BioShock (not the longest game in the world, but excellent)
Super Mario RPG (on Virtual Console)
Super Mario Galaxy
NeverWinter Nights (1 or 2, doesn't matter, they're both great fun)

And his parents aren't imbeciles, they're parenting according to their own set of morals. If those don't match yours, that's fine. You get to make those kind of decisions when you have kids of your own. Until then, respect the fact that they take enough of an interest in their son's life to care about the content of his entertainment.

You think morals can't be idiotic? Fine, I believe it's immoral to have a fridge not run by hamsters, am I an idiot?

I will not respect some idiots who apparently think if their kid sees sexual content they'll....do something bad I guess? I've never heard a good excuse for the mindset.

Also, if I call people idiots for things that effect no one else, why can't I call them idiots for things they do that effect their kid.

If they cared a little about the violence I honestly wouldn't care. But, no I will not respect some idiots who apparently think if their kid sees sexual content they'll....do something bad I guess? I've never heard a good excuse for the mindset.
Please different thread, this is one of the reasons I made this thread to get back to some good game-talk.

I'm pretty sure that's here http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/index/9 . Game threads don't belong in offtopic unless there was some change I wasn't alerted of

hmmm... I'd say any fallout game.
Well more or less Fallout 3 was blown to smithereens for me when I overheard my Father talking with a work colleague of his who said it had "Adult Themes"
You can hire a hooker, but she just goes upstairs and falls asleep.

Unless by adult themes he meant shooting a mutants head and it going in three directions. But some sections of the game do have some relatively tense survival sections, especially when you're seriously out gunned.

The force unleashed is a good play, but you don't get very much replay value out of it.

I would like to recommend Saints Row 2, but the violence is there and there are ways to make it very "adult themed" very easily, not that you see anything of course, you don't in most video games. (you can streak, flash and there are a few sexual references in cut scenes, but never any on screen action, just talking about it.)
What about the ho-ing diversion? Or the escort mission?

I usually put anything not specifically related to a game in off-topic and this is more about the buying of.

that sounds like a work-around to avoid the gaming discussion thread that might not even make sense.

No, nothing more. The orange box was released at the normal price, but its way less than that now. If your really not interested in the other games you can get TF2 as it is for £20-£15 (thats over here), but you'd be throwing away money, you don't know what your missing.

Thanks for the clarification certainly one for me to look out for then, there should be a couple more though I mean for an entire generation to only have a few headliner games then something has gone wrong.

I am a pc gamer and do not have any console so I don't know if your pc will handle these games, but I think I can recommend a few.

- The Elder Scrolls III & VI, they are pretty good
- Fable
- Supreme Commander
- GRID
- Guild Wars
- Warhammer 40,000 Dawn of War II

They are all that come to mind considering I only really play FPS's, but I have had fun with those games in the past, and I play the DoWII beta every now and then, it's pretty good :). Guild Wars is the only mmorpg I have ever played because I will never pay a subscription for a game :p, it is good though and might get a hundred or 2 hundred hours out of ya. I will recommend a few FPS's however, incase ya do feel like having a look.

- Call of Duty 4
- Counter-Strike Source
- Team Fortress 2
- Half Life 1 & 2
- Red Orchestra
- Left 4 Dead

I hope that helps, check them out even if ya just read a review or something and maybe one will catch your eye :)

Thief: the dark project and Thief: the metal age would be pretty good, except they do have some horror elements. Another one is the Myst series, which are big puzzle games. Wikipedia could probably explain better than I. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst
