In the case of nearly every Pay to play MMORPG I can think of you get a month of playtime when you buy the game. This was the case for city of heros, Warcraft, Tabula Rasa, The old republic, Aion, and probably a lot of others that I cant recall off the top of my head. I think Tera follows that as well but Im not 100% sure. That said you arent getting tied down to those games anymore then you would be with any other release since you get some play time when you buy the game. Also nearly every MMORPG now has a try before you buy system set up, it generally just requires you to look into their websiteDigitalAtlas said:So, I've only tried a few free/freemium MMO's. I've been trying to get more into the MMO world, but I honestly lack the wallet size. I'd love to play something like TERA or TOR, but I just don't feel I should need to buy an engagement ring for a game I'm not even sure I'll like.
Anyway, any one here play any free MMORPGs that they feel like recommending?
As for good MMORPGs I havnt played many. I do remember playing Mabinogi and I thought it was ok. City of heros went free to play awile ago but IMO the free to play model is horrible. Even their VIP service is pretty aweful. Dungeons and dragons online is also free to play and while Ive never played it I mostly hear good things so it may be worth a look. Star trek online is also worth a look, I dont actually know what the free to play model is like now I only know that the game was alright when it was pay to play. I also layed ruins of magic for a it and its ok.
Thats all I can think of off the top of my head
