Hold on, I'll search through my spotify account and compile a few, but heres a starter:

EDIT: Are youtube videos okay? if you have an account I think you can make a playlist and have them play one after another automatically, or how are you planning to work the music?
I just need background for a D&D campaign, so yeah videos are fine

Two Steps from Hell is a company that makes Production Trailer Music which is bought and used by other studios for trailers so as not to spoil their own soundtrack.
Oh yeah they used that in the Mass Effect 2 trailers it was pretty awesome. They also used it in a Susan Boyle documentary it was pretty not awesome. Anyway can't go wrong with Forces from the Berserk soundtrack.

Holst is pretty awesome... pretty sure you could find The Planets somewhere for free

Divine Comedy by Robert W Smith, Thus Spake Zarathustra by Strauss is about as epic as it gets.

I'm also a huge fan of Beethoven's Symphony Seven Mov. 2 if you're looking for a really subtle feel

You my friend are in luck. I have just what you need. Step right up.

Firstly, you need Two Steps from Hell. They do some fantastic music. A lot of different types to. I'm sure there's some that will suit your need.

Second on my list is Veigar Margeirsson. Does very nice, short epic pieces you might like.

One I do not know much about but definately worth a look is AudioMachine. Very good pieces.

Two more I'd look at are Stephan J Anderson and Teddy Bear Music (albeit that ones a bit more Rock based).

Lastly. Here is a fantastic youtube account, filled with many many great songs. Check it out as well. I hope this has been helpful for you.

Just do a LastFM search for Puccini, Verdi, Prokofiev or Wagner or some other opera. Most of the famous pieces of those (ie. the ones that appear on LastFM) are the dramatic, tense ones; such as Montagues & Capulets and Ride of the Valkyries.
How dare you come in and suggest four of the five composers I was going to suggest.

The fifth was Grieg. He's got some good dramatic-tense-battle music.

If I'm not mistaken, Dungeons and Dragons has an official soundtrack for that sort of thing. However, I don't know if it's any good or not.

'It Ends' and 'The Battle of Lil' Slugger' by Danny Baranowsky (from the Super Meat Boy OST) are both awesome and epic songs.
