Need for Speed Most Wanted getting cops in MP after all?

Hey!

So a deal-breaker for me is cops in multiplayer. Now, reports online say that the new Most Wanted will NOT have any cops in multiplayer. Criterion has officially said so in at least one interview. However, when I asked the official NFS twitter yesterday and again today, they said that Most Wanted will actually have cops in multiplayer.

I also called EA support in Sweden and the woman I talked to had no idea, however, she put me on hold and asked a few of her colleges which said that they THINK it will include cops, but they weren't 100% sure as it's still an unreleased title.

If the game will actually have cops in multiplayer I'll be getting 4 copies of the game for me and three friends. But as we're in it mostly for the chases it would be a waste of 200? for me if it turns out they won't be present. The rest sounds like a hotter version of Burnout Paradise with a few modifications (don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with that - it's just that we want the cops too).

I loved the Cops n Robbers mode in NFS:HP.

Lots of fun I got called Wanker and ****** many times in that game.

Yeah, that's what I think too. What's strange is that the official NFS twitter is saying that there will be cops in MP. You'd think they would know, but obviously Criterion knows better.

I want them to chase us in free-roam, just like they are in single player.

Yeah, we enjoyed HP too, but it's not that easy to find players nowadays, and the few we find are like max level with better cars.

Besides, the races in HP are too short, we want to drag it out like in the old Most Wanted (single player) and be able to roam free throughout the city.

For me, it has to do with a loss of certain features in NFS:MW. Namely, the car customization.

The original Most Wanted had good car customization that made every car in online races feel awesome (moreso when I smoke them). It was mad fun to hop in a highly tuned Lancer Evo & outrun police Corvettes on some Gone In 60 Seconds shit. It was fun to create a high performance whip and send it down the street on some Fast & Furious shit.

Now it looks like an open-world Burnout clone without the customization.

As for cops in MP, if it makes the AI split up and attempt to hunt down multiple cars, I'm all for it. Because I really hope the 5-0 actually puts forth a challenge and pulls out the stops short of deploying Hind D attack helicopters.

I have a friend who tends to look this type of stuff up. From what he gathered, you will be able to drive to a race, race and when the race is over, you will have to get away from the cops. That actually sounds like cool beans to me.

I'm not so interested in the multiplayer, the breaking point for me is just whether it plays like the original Most Wanted or not. MW was a fantastic game and they know that which is why they're playing the name, but it's subtle. On paper Carbon should have been as good as Most Wanted but it wasn't and I can't tell from the trailers whether they've got the magic or not.

Saying that, multiplayer cop chases would get me much more interested in multiplayer than straight races. You could have a lot of fun with that, it'd be a bit freeform, needs friends who you actually know and are talking to to work but the fancy manouervers you could pull off might be brilliant.

It would be really undirected and require a bit of a learning curve, if you and a friend go down different paths, quickly navigating to meet up again etc and so it might not review well, it definitely would be make or break for me, but a very neat bonus.

It's not looking like Most Wanted though, and I haven't seen much but I don't think the story will have the same style. It was cheesy but I really enjoyed the Most Wanted story and style of it. In general it's just making me want them to release a HD remake of the original

well i cant wait to play the new most wanted because even though i dont like nfs games this one is not really nfs its the sequel to burnout paradise with nfs branding.
i love burnout so much i still play it online on the pc for hours. its addicting, very fun.
playing marked men, stunt runs, road rages, races, challenges is just so much fun.
and there are still so many people playing it online for the pc.
it wouldnt hurt for more of you guys to join in so that EA dont close the servers for burnout paradise anytime soon !!!!
