Need games that can be played one-handed

So, my brother, as smart people tend to do, broke his collarbone on his last day of collage and it'll take a few weeks to recover, and I was wondering if any of you know of any good games that can be played one-handed, preferably on steam before he loses his mind.

Now, if you want one-handed gaming I usually browse Kongregate a little for time passers that only need the mouse (or only the keyboard) to play. On steam though, huhm....well been playing World of Goo lately and that's mouse only (except for the classic ESC for menu and all). And the Sam&Max point-and-click puzzle games. I suppose a turn-based strategy could work too...

Lame jokes aside. Civilization, Diablo 1-3(all on blizzard's store not steam),Titan quest, he could preorder torchlight 2 and get Torchlight 1 free.

The Civ games are probably your best bet. Since they're turn based, you can take your sweet time playing each round. That and they are hella fun.

I've used the keyboard quite a lot in D2 - shrotcuts to spells, abilities, drinking potions, hit Alt to see what's on the ground. Sure, you can also only use the mouse, but that would need a slower pace, something you can't often afford. And similar thing goes to the other titles, unless keyboard for speed isn't much of an issue there.

I'd suggest turn based games: Heroes of Might and Magic (1-5 are on GOG, 5 and 6 are on Steam, 3 is a classic, but 5 almost "that + better graphics and good changes"), also Disciples (1 and 2, also on GOG - I've played 2 and recommend it), Civilisations (on Steam), and so on. I've been having fun with Might and Magic Clash of Heroes - it's a nice little game with puzzle based combat. Annoyingly, you can't use only mouse, as you need to hit Escape somewhere, because thhere is no "back" or "exit" in the menu, it's not a huge issue, but I can't just lean back with my mouse and play it.

Also, possibly even the Commandos series (on GOG) - they aren't turn based, but from what I can recall, you can play them with mouse only, also Desperados, which is like Commandos in the Wild West, and there was a Robin Hood game in the same vein.

And, uhm, Bayonetta. Hey, it had to be said, right?

At the moment, Facebook has some games that only require a mouse. Some of these include Marvel Avenger Alliance and Soul Crash. I'm sure there are more, but these are the two I play that only require a mouse.

I guess your right. I mean holding down shift is essential for ranged characters in those games. It is pretty vital to have to hold down alt. I just taught my friend that who has been playing diablo for a while and not known about that feature.

Just about any turn-based RPG, like Pokemon or SMT. Or you can team up and play N64, three-handed.

He can continue playing regular games. It's his collarbone not his hand. as long as he doesn't do any motion control type stuff and can sit in a chair sat still then he is just as able with a controller as everyone else.

Depending on which collarbone he broke, any game using a mouse could be a lot more taxing than using a controller e.g. if he's right handed and broke his right collarbone, then proper mouse movement will aggravate that, yet merely gripping a controller moving his thumb wouldn't.

When I broke my left arm/wrist and had it in a sling, I was still able to use a controller (albeit I held it as a slightly odd angle), because all that was required of my injured arm was a loose grip and to move my thumb and index finger.

Most games using a controller should be fine and if he's having difficulty using a mouse, he could use something like Xpadder to bind the mouse functions to a controller.

Apart from that, you're really looking at any turn based game in which you initiate the next turn with a key or button press (e.g. King's Bounty: The Legend), so that his lack of dexterity won't be a disadvantage, or if he's able to use a mouse without any problems at all, then there are plenty of games that only use a mouse (e.g. Torchlight).

A turn-based game, maybe? A good bunch of turn-based RPGs on the PS2 are the SMT series. Or Pokemon. Or a strategy game. Or Fallout.

Or just a turn-based RPG of some sort.

they can be played with just a mouse, and are excellent games as well =P

anyways yeah fallout and also if you have a mouse with shortcuts on the side you could rebind the keys and play some moba games, like league of legends or dota 2.

The Phoenix Wright games on the DS or any other Visual Novel type stuff. Press A repeatedly to win or just touchscreen everything.

I love the Ace Attorney games, just a glace at my DS could tell you that. Every button is in pristine condition except the A button which has gone all faded and worn...

Problem being that Bad Rats is a videogaming example of "so bad it's good," and playing Katawa Shoujo one handed has some unfortunate implications[footnote]That said, it's effectively the best chick flick never filmed, or the best romance novel ever written. You owe it to yourself to play it if you have a soul.[/footnote].

Slightly more serious suggestion: You can also usually get away with one handed play in turn based strategy games. It might take you slightly longer per turn, but it's doable. Civilization comes to mind; you can play it completely with the mouse if you want to, although you're better off using the numpad to move your units. Starting with Civ V, mouse only is an even better option. Maybe an 8 bit JRPG, too. Although if you're gonna go there, I'd load up an emulator on the computer, and set it up so that you move with WASD and then have the other four buttons where you can press them from that position. Say, Q and E for start and select, shift and space for A and B.
