Need help ASAP, computer problems (Updated information)

I recently bought some RAM to upgrade my computer with. The problem is after installing the ram my computer will always get a BSOD (blue screen of death) after the windows logo. Right now I am in safe mode trying to figure out what the bloody hell to do to fix this issue. The computers website is worthless for finding a BIOS update since I am told this might fix the issue. Here are my computers current specs, please help if you can.

Hm just a quick question, did you try switching back to your old primary memory to see if that fixed it?

Did you check if your ram is compatible?

There should be some speeds on the ram specifications and you may have to change them in BIOS to match what it says the ram speed is.

First thing would be to make sure it is cause of the ram, it could be just DOA

You should remove the new RAM to confirm this is what's causing the BSOD.

If it is and assuming the new RAM is more than one stick, add the new RAM one stick at a time to find out which is faulty.

It is the new ram, bought a kit and each stick causes the BSOD. Old sticks work

VERY dumb question, old sticks read as follows;

PC2-5300U-555-12-ZZ

New sticks;
PC2-6400-555

Would that make a big difference in this? I was told the MOBO could run 6400

How would I change the BIOS speed, or should I run up to the store and get sticks with PC2-5300 instead?

Sounds like either a defect (unlikely w. two different modules.) It might be a compatability issue though (as suggested above.)

Try using just ONE block to rule out that one of them is defective.

I have tried each stick one and still get BSOD...I have a nagging feeling its that PC2 number so I'm going to go and swap them out. I am really hoping this works, will update this when I get back.

If the RAM wasn't compatible your computer wouldn't boot up at all, much less run any software. And the speeds are self regulated, unless you have a good understanding of BIOS setting I would leave this be.

But Windows has it's quirks and will sometimes break down completely after a hardware change, tho if it does run in safemode I'm thinking the issue is some higher function (sound / graphics acceleration)... I have no clue why that would be affected.

However do try and put in only one stick at a time and booting up to make sure they work proper on their own, it could be the new RAM has a slight error that will mess up the data, either way let us know how this goes.

Nope, they had to order the spare ram so I won't even know if that will work until Wednesday night.

EDIT: I forgot, thank you guys for your time. You all did your best to help but it seems to have been hardware error in the end.

WELL to bring back a 10 day old thread, the issue is still not resolved. I have tried 4 different brands of memory sticks and yet they all get BSOD, it seems that the best this computer can do is let it start up on to the desktop where it crashes to a BSOD. 3 of the sticks matched info for info PERFECTLY in my opinion and I have not tried installing more than the system can handle. Now my CPU usage percentage is going crazy as well.
